$350?!?! I could probably do this install in 5 minutes if I wanted to. Ive swapped back and forth a couple times. It takes the most time to unscrew the MAF sensor. Im glad my video helped :)
Personally went with AEM SRI for 2015 2.0 iSport. Has a heat shield, bigger filter, no CEL. Makes a nice throaty sound, little bit of pickup low and mid range RPM. Plus the gray tube looks pretty nice.
Yea that was probably a good choice. Mine didn't really need a shield because it would have made a 1-2° difference. But the larger pipe and filter must have helped if you gained low and mid.
Nice install. Thanks for the upload. Too bad it didn't come with a bracket piece to hold it still/in place from vibrations. Not bad on you, but I can see where Injen could have made a bent metal to bolt to frame. Looks like a dry nano filter, they do come in different colors. I installed an Injen in my DC5, no failures, great finish, no blemishes.
Hey i got the exact same setup mine looking exactly like yours but i didn’t turn my battery off during install, i had the CEL come on about 6 hours after install
I only have experience with Injen, but have had K&N on other vehicles and liked them. K&N is best quality and if you go with SRI it has a heat shield. Im not a fan of Corksport, their product looks very cheap in comparison and is the same price.
hey I put the Injen CAI on my 2014 mazda 3 2.0. Just wondered if you had any check engine light issues.. Mine came on and I cannot get it to stay off. its clear for like 5 days.. and then comes on. I've tried everything.
During the time I had this intake, I didnt experience any check engine light issues. The only thing I can think of is if a vacuum hose wasnt attached properly. Check what the specific check engine code is and go from there. Auto parts stores can help with that.
yea kinda already did all that.. found the code, inspected the problem.. nothing was physically wrong. What I think is the issue, is that MAF sensor and ECU is reading that the air/feul mix ratio is off (more air), ... then everyone is like oh reset your ECU.. yup did that.. still nothing.. lol ... check engine light still on.
In the year-plus since you posted this, did you end up installing the heat shield? One of the other advantages of having it is that it acts as a support for the intake (even though the tube does not touch the shield under normal circumstances).
I removed and had a raffle and gave it away. I preferred the low end torque and quiter ride. It was a bit loud in combination with my Borla exhaust. And I did tests and a heat shield wouldnt have been worth the cost. It ran nearly exact same temp as when using factory box. Airflow through front grille leads right into the intake filter. It just wasnt for me.
@@TheAdventureAuto I see you mentioned in a couple comments the loss of low-end torque. I was hoping to find something with at least a slight gain in low-end torque. So you're saying this definitely wouldn't be it? I'm not interested in the top-end really
TY for this video I cannot find one anywhere lol. I have just ordered this for my Mazda 3 HB 2.0 cannot wait to install mine. Do you know where you can buy a heat shield?
Trailman Im glad my video was useful. Corksport's website sells heat shields but youd have to look close to see if itd be compatible. The area where the injen filter ends up it is so open I dont think a heat shield would yield as much benefit as one set up in a very tight engine bay. Good luck man!
crash29662 No, I left it the way it was. Could be something I consider in the future. I used my scanguage to compare intake temps to ambient, and it wasnt that different when moving. Airflow through the engine bay is good so adding an airbox seems like it would prevent air from flowing through.
Hey man great video!! I've got one question for you. I'm going to be installing a short ram intake on my buddies mazda 3 and was wondering where you got yours from? I put an Injen intake system on my nissan 300zx but I can't find a short ram for my buddies car. If you could send me the link to where you got yours, that would be amazing! Thanks for the help and good work on your channel!!
The Adventure Mazda, im considering buying the injen SRI but it would be just for daily drive; do you think it would be a waste of money?. Also, im planning on changing the exhaust; that would be the only mods on the car(mazda 3 hb 2.0).
Thats where I was at. I think if you drive your car pretty spirited and like that induction sound, its a good buy. Upper RPMs feel much better but lower RPMs and MPGs suffer a little.
No. The exhaust manifold is on the back of the engine and it's a 4-2-1 style so it doesn't create much heat to begin with. If you install one of these close to the exhaust manifold, then yes it's a warm air intake. Better MPGs.
Nothing needs to be done with the computer. Im not familiar with your specific vehicle, but as long as you reconnect all vacuum lines and MAF is in place, youll be good to install and drive.
The Adventure Auto hell that was fast and a breather filter? Never heard of that I’m going to go the autozone store to see if they have it. But yeah I was kinda scared because of the vacuum hose that goes to my engine and the intake not having a plug for it.
@@fuskitis Yea some intakes dont have them. Not having it all connected properly can cause a check engine light, but it still works. The breather filters are real small. All auto parts stores keep them in stock.
@@yan5362 Short rams create a more direct path of air (and in some cases more airflow) to the throttle body in comparison to stock or cold air intakes. However, the drawback with Short Rams is that they often suck in hotter air, effectively robbing the engine of power after a long stop at a stoplight where no real fresh air is moving to it. Cold airs solve this by attempting to catch colder air usually from a fender well, fog light..etc. cold air= denser=more air in the cylinders to create a stronger "bang" . It dropped a little. Partly bc you drive it a little harder. Anything else im not sure what I'd attribute the decrease to.

Hey, i've got a mazda 3 1.6L A/T only. Would it be worth it to change from to to Short Ram? Only cons you've notice so far is the increase in MPG?

Wouldn't that thing be rattle about in the engine bay when you drive?
Not if you tighten it down properly to the TB. It shakes a little, but not enough to come in contact with anything else in the engine bay.
Asuzen Fonas when the old air box is taken out, there is a lot of empty space. The filter just suspends itself in that large empty space.
