I'm love with Nickelodeon there's too many cartoons I think the song is coming on 🎵all the Nickelodeon cartoons is so cool I don't know which one to choose🎵
This would make a great GTA mod. I'm also kinda glad the Michelin Man got killed. He was a lousy father, a lousy conversationalist, a crappy driver and an even dumber cop.
This was the first year I watched the animated shorts nominated for Oscars in the theater, and I will never forget seeing, after 4 fairly traditional, good but not revolutionary films, a big "the next film is rated R. No really." appear on the screen. And then this, beautiful masterpiece of film, which likely will never be replicated due to the sheer amount of work required to get the rights to use all these brands. I have rarely predicted the Oscar winner in this category, but that year it was not even a question.
"due to the sheer amount of work required to get the rights to use all these brands" They didn't ask for any authorisation. They were making a parody, which (in France at least) is enough to invalidate such claims. There is not a single chance that a customer may mistake the issue of such or such logo as an endorsement. [EDIT] There are US precedents also in that direction, lookup Lawrence, Rose "LOGORAMA: The Great Trademark Heist "
Fun Fact: David Fincher plays "Original" Pringles in this short. Yes, the David Fincher, who directed The Social Network, Fight Club and The Girl with the Dragon Tatooo
The "logo city" is supposed to be Los Angeles, as evidenced by the fact that the zoo that the Haribo, Big Boy, and BiC kids visit is the LA Zoo and the Esso girl saying "we have to get out of LA" while escaping from the earthquake. The San Andreas Fault is supposedly long overdue for another "Big One" (earthquake) similar to the 1906 earthquake. According to a 2008 federal report, the most likely scenario is a 7.8 magnitude quake that would rupture a 200-mile stretch along the southernmost part of the fault. I'm assuming this is what the quake in the film is referring to.
Far and away one of the most engaging and entertaining thing I may ever have seen! At 70 years old and an avid cartoon/anime watcher for most of my life, this is wonderful!
I watched this when it was in the "Oscar animated film mash up" way back in 2008/2009. Wow. The nostalgia from watching this more than a decade later is so weird I was 6 years old
I remember some years ago when I was in summer school, these three kids in my class wouldn’t stop shouting “Logorama”. Whenever they had an opportunity they would take a laptop and look up this video on TH-cam. Those memories and this video will forever be buried in my mind because of the constant shouting and video watching that went on for about a week.
It does that for me especially since these guys used the "Food Town" logo I never expected to see in this film. That was a supermarket that existed in my city for decades until the early 2000's. The logo brought back some pleasant memories and I'm only surprised a French group of people used it at all. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seaway_Food_Town
I've found left 4 dead. God this is the most detailed peace of work I've ever had seen, there is so many references! I wish i could work with it in a School assignment and analyse every use of logo in their "situation". But I guess it will take some time.
So I love this, but I ended up stumbling upon this when I was like 6, and it was horrifying. So I spent around 10 years trying to figure out if this was a vivid nightmare I had.
Never in my life did I ever think I would see the Michelin Man kill Mr. Peanut while shooting at Ronald McDonald, who is holding Big Boy and the Esso girl hostage inside a Pizza Hut. Yet here we are
Just watching this in 2024 because I saw a passing reference to it while down a Michelin wikipedia hole... gotta say I don't understand how this won an academy award. "Let's make a Quentin Tarantino-style action flick but with brands?" No apparent pro or anti corporate messaging. What's the point? What am I meant to feel other than "wow, that's a lot of brands?"
+AeizzatToha Yep. I think they deliberately put the microsoft products in reverse - xbox, then windows, then dos. 'Goes' with the idea of things breaking apart.

I remember watching this short in 2010, now it’s 2024 and I enjoyed it just as much as I did back then! Truly a piece of art

@@Sunnymom2009 bad what?
@sydneyhamilton2575: A 1,000-hr. video of dogshit is better than foodfight. Try raising the bar a little above sub-outer core levels, darling.
Definitely

I can't believe that this won the Best Animated Feature over Wallace & Gromit 4: A Matter of Loaf & Death. I loved that short film.

I remember watching this years ago and is still amazing, but I'm still confused on how that random world ending earthquake happened

this production is a fantastic depiction on how we see the world, in logos. I luv it
It was also a statement of how the Oil industry controls everything worldwide.

Two adult animated short films each won an Oscar in two different years: 2009 and 2021.
I watched this in my grade 10 business class and I still come back time-to-time to watch this masterpiece
Totally brilliant. Uniquely original and best of all, no adverts to interrupt the story...!

Well deserved
Also the first time somebody beat Nick Park to an Oscar, and thankfully it was something truly special.

I’d argue that’s good exposure. You’re exposed to brands at an insane scale, which could translate to avoidance.
