I got kicked out of this show at this exact moment for jumping from the stands to the field. Was escorted out of the stadium, immediately went to the ticket area, an guy was picking up tickets and handed me one - first time miracled - made it back in for the end of Curtan
Honestly, despite everything going on during these waning years of 2.0, there's some gems that get neglected. Just because it's '03-'04 doesn't automatically make it bad. Cite: Mr. Completely SLC
03 and 04 have some of my most favorite jams ever, and also some of the worst slop ever. 2.0 is probably my favorite era. 99-04 would be the specific years, even though most people think of those as the worst.
The acoustic version from that incredible set they did at festival 8 in indigo California is my favorite but this is absolutely a very close 2nd. This song before "with" is hardly worth a mention. It really improved it drastically.
I can't help thinking about Coventry when I hear this......I was about 40 rows back in front of Trey at Coventry and it was like watching Mohammed Ali get torn apart in the ring, he literally couldn't hit anything. And the commentary he gave before going into Curtain/With was so cool....then proceeded to play the worst version of it I've ever heard. Even went into "with" in the wrong key and had to start over, nearly brought tears to my eyes. So amazing he's come back from that and it's nothing now but a horrible memory.
Trey hit bottom, in front of thousands of people who cared about him at Coventry. I was one of them. Unlike most he picked himself up and turned it around. He did it a lot sooner than I did. I got over three years now. Also, I'll be in Tennessee this weekend pulling for the curtain. Go trey!
This one is pretty good too but I think these two greatest "the curtain with " solos stand the test of time ! Live in Vegas 2000 ( Uploaded by Justin e. ) Wachovia Center 2009 ( Uploaded by Tyler Penn )
Trey's tone is so crunchy and dirty sounding. It's like he's trying to sound awful. I love the 2.0 era... it's captivating that any song can turn into 20 minutes of improv. Sounded better in person than on recordings.
And ditched the Ross compressor. For reasons known only to God. It took a collection of fans pooling their money, buying another one, and then sending it to Trey to get him to put it back in his rig. Thank God.
I find it odd that I'm the first one to mention the rift tease at 6:56. Are you guys leaving comments before watching videos through? That's bad practice, imagine rating the Gettysburg address after only hearing "Four score and seven years ago". Not exactly the full picture.

Lol over the big cypress footage and the full new years eve 95 show, not really
Probably the best Curtain jam I've heard honestly, who gives a shit if it's '04.

This is the only Phish show I ever made it to the front row at. What a great time.
❤ SMILEY FACED REAL SMILERS BE ❤
The Curtain with alive in Brooklyn, New York USA 🇺🇸 😊
This was probably the highlight of the 2004 summer tour.
One of the most important live songs played during this era
These boys just do it! My love for this band has been from first hearing them . Joy, love, and true beauty
this is one of the best versions of Curtain With that I've heard, Keyspan 04 discs get a lot of play in my car

what a neat show to open the Summer 2004 Tour!!!
And it was all down hill from there.
not true have you not heard the space run from 2004
This show was the business
😊
great show
Mike still had his 90s look here
This one is pretty good too but I think these two greatest "the curtain with " solos stand the test of time !

I remember this from worlds ago..
Mike's shirt looks so nice.
You can hear Trey channeling his inner Zappa after the rift tease- Inca Roads for sure-!!
This isn’t a rift tease. That’s how the Curtain With goes 🤦♂️
3.0 moment
Lmao dude that's part of the song. They're the same riff my phriend.
There are two very noticeable things missing in this video: GIRLS and PHONES
With might be the best jam ever.
Rehearsal for Coventry?
20 years ago almost…
This is great
still so young during 2.0
Why does Mike dress like a soccer mom from 1993?
because he wants to attract the young 9 year old girls. takes them into the woods alone and shit.... interrrresstingggg
Well, Fish dresses like a soccer mom from 1993’s mom.
Even the absolute worst-played (rare) live Phish songs have incredible talent and complex songwriting behind them. "Ain't no place I'd rather be"

Aaron Monier He changed his setup slightly during 2.0.
deluxe reverb'd

Uber proggy
That rift tease was nasty
with
Please me
Have no regret
This marked an end in the era of Mike’s “basic” hair and wardrobe style.
crunchy brah
totally sicktight
Nope. It didn't. Haters hate. It's what you do best.

That’s not a rift tease. That is literally how this song goes.
Nice catch dude but its a recycled riff that end up in Rift. Curtain is one of the oldest Phish songs.
@@suave969You got it. It's just "With" And, just beautifully done!
Rookie alert
Vegas 2000 Curtain With > Brooklyn Curtain With. By a hair.
Jody Neal both released on DVD. Go figure.
Wrong
I've never heard Phish before but this doesn't sound very good
User name does not check out
04 sucked
So does your mom
Trey seems hard to contain here, busting out at seems. Really good, Fer, supposedly bad ending. See yea in mex
