Wow! This video was absolutely amazing. I'm writing a research paper on how games break conventions and this video was an absolutely phenomenal resource for a jumping off point. I love the range of examples you used and the explanations were in depth and helped explain how these designers break conventions in their own ways while also building off another. The amount of work and detail you put into this video is such a great testament to how much you truly care about the topic, and I really appreciated it!!

Yo this was a really good video! I'll admit to have issues sometimes following long-form stuff without entertainment elements like music or title cards, but this was really easy to slide with. Bless up!

That's precisely why I don't like the latest God of War because while trying to break out from the God of War franchise convensions, it became like the other 90% of the AAA games. Camera and rpg elements that makes no sense for this kind of game, very limited puzzles integrations/environment interactivity, and that is just the tip of the iceberg of how many things are wrong with the game. One thing I liked is that in the game is trying to tell a difrent side of Kratos, in my opinion that's a good step in the right direction narrative wise.

Matthewmatosis has a great case study video of the game that you'll like it you haven't already seen it.

During the Blow highlight, you say, “in other talks he speaks about how the medium of games constrains creative exploration and the broader ambition of needing to make games that interrogate truth using the language of games.”
Can you repeat that in better English? Or link to the talk.

Games are inherently restrictive. In contrast, art seeks to break boundaries and explore new ideas. This poses a challenge for developers as artists, who use the "language" of games as a medium for artistic exploration.

This is an old comment and idk if he added it retroactively, but the links to all of the sources/talks are in the description

I don't think the new God of War give the medium something new...

@Ilyes Benachi they are many cutscenes. This walky talky is like the last of us.
