What's good for drilling through stainless steel with makita drill?

How would this one compare to an older DHP458 model? I notice the difference with the brushless motor, but would the price difference (DHP458 is much cheaper) make up for it?

    Do the gears mesh yet?

Just got my one from its and sound funny when stopping, never heard a makita making that noise, which does not sound very promising

When tightening the chuck, drill usually ends up in hammer mode, very annoying.

I can't understand a damn word you are saying. I had to use a translator and realized it's English. Damn. Good review though.

mine broke within a year. chuck completely fell apart and locked up. had to buy a new one. guess what. bought the XPHO3 it burnt out within six months. I tried to fix it with all the spare dead Makitas I have laying around here but to no avail. Sucks. It seems like Makita is participating in Programed obsolescence. I am not going to keep replacing my drills every six months. My old makita drills lasted 15years plus. It is sad to see how CAPITALISM has destroyed our entire world. Communism would never allow profits over community. Community first!! Before you jump down my throat about how bad communism is, do yourself a favor and educate yourself because the schools didn't do a good job at it. Communism means com
munity. Everything you know is has been taught to you by the capitalist.

How about warranty? Shouldn't they be replacing that for you? I've had many drills/saws/etc from Makita and the only drill that ever failed on me was replaced under warranty within a week.

this thing is absolute garbage because the drill/hammer selector is as loose **** and likes to change to hammer when you dont want to. BUy a bosch or milky

We have one of these at work and have not noticed any problems with the selector🤔

@@ililiililliliill9498 ok so I double checked and I have the DHP486Z, and its already had the gearbox replaced and the selector is still temperamental. Bosch or Milky have a separate ring for hammer or drill, and its got better indentation on the ring.

Buy a Bosch or Milky? Have you ever repaired any of those? In the UK Bosch service is getting to be non-existent these days, whilst Milwaukee tools tend not to be that repairable (same goes for some DWs, too). Makita generally don't insist on selling you the motor switch permanently wired into the controller board and motor (pricey!) which is the case with some Milwaukees. Take a look at some of Dean Docherty's repair viodeos iof you don't believe me

@@jobandknock427 thanks, I will take a look. Normally I am very happy with Makita, idk how they stuffed up this drill so bad
