Jim Cornette deserves his own documentary.
jshudo44 You know I never thought about it until you said it. But now that I’m thinking about it. How the hell has that not happened already? The mans life was a treasure trove of material. Someone in Hollywood really needs to get on this.
I'd argue that's too much to contain in 2 ish hours. His podcast serves well for that

I love Jim Cornette, I just wish the guy would loosen up a bit on his old school mentality. he holds grudges way too much....lke Omega. Omega is so good in the ring and Cornette just refuses to acknowledge how good he is. Kenny did some stupid stuff, but it wasnt really up to him. His BOSS told him to those things and he had to if he wanted his job.

Listen to his shoot interviews. Kayfabe Commentaries has like a four hour interview with him.
Hell yeah! It could easily be 2 hours or more.

Cornette has been so out and open with everything over the years, i dont know what a documentary could really uncover. Theres no mystery wit hCornette.

@@gnikulodeon1999 Nope. Midnight Express and Corny did a double turn in a title loss against the Road Warriors in 1988 and worked as faces for little over a year.
@@max__p1765 That was stage 2 of 3 of their face turn. Stage 1 was challenging and winning the belts from Tully and Arn. Stage 3 was the run-in with Paul E and the Original Midnight Express.
Also the Road Warriors had already turned completely heel before that match when they turned on Sting in a 6 man tag title defence.

There are a few who have made it throughout their entire career with there sanity drug free and quite normal. One being Tito Santana. Other than the tiny few I highly agree that most likely if you're not already crazy going into to that profession being that you qualify through the boot camp phase, you will def become crazy in a matter of no time. It def won't take long either
They need to have wrestling disengagement treatment because when people come out of wrestling it’s strange going into the real world

Tim F Unfortunately, it kinda is. They had a guy come in with Macho Man gear from his Mega Powers days. It was authenticated and documented. The offer was ridiculously low because the market for wrestling memorabilia is rather niche.
Zachary Lewis, did you know Elizabeth made a lot of his gear when they were together? Unlike Flair, who spent $10,000 on every robe he had, Elizabeth made a lot of Randy’s capes. She was known all over Tampa Bay at the different fabric stores.

It can be seen as endearing, the way he's so passionate about the things he speaks on. We all have our interests that can seem a bit nerdy to others, even to ourselves. But hell, I could be wrong, I don't think so though.
People talk trash about Corny but there is a reason why he is so critical of the Omega / Young Bucks stuff , dude' s an actual historian of wrestling so he knows why and when it went South from the essence

This is why Jim is considered controversial and sometimes a “hater”. The guy LOVES this shit! And if you get butt hurt about the things he says, keep in mind that wrestling is his life and he has a specific way he wants wrestling to be. There’s nothing wrong with that in my mind.
Plus, wrestling fans are always b-ing about something. He’s a wrestling fan.
All those VHS tapes... man, I hope they've been digitized. If not, those could be some of the rarest matches of all time.
Cornette sold the SMW and old OVW footage to WWE ages ago. So I can't imagine he has too many unique footage in his archive.

Corny was a tape trader back in the day, so he may have held onto some territory shows that WWE never had the rights to.
As much as I wish his classic cassettes and beta or even reels as I am sure he has would be converted. I am afraid that even second to second the grit of the old film won't translate right and would take a step back in the presentation. Let alone of some shmuck would add to it "clean it up". If you ever watched Thezz on WWE Network you'll see what I mean.
I would listen to this man talk for hours - even if I don't agree with all of his opinions.
This is why I'd rather sit an hour or two at Cornette's feet than a single second at Russo's. His love and respect for the pro wrestling business is simply inspiring.

RedneckSpaceMan Ok I didn’t know that. I just remember Jim always into something on WWF. I was a lil kid when I started watching WWF.
The way they got him further involved in the WWF is kind of an interesting story.
They wanted him as a manager, to help make Yokozuna look legitimate enough for Lex Luger to get over as their next Hulk Hogan like babyface, by beating him at Wrestlemania.
The problem for the WWF was, Jim was happy running, booking and managing his own small territory Smokey Mountain Wrestling. However he was always interested in furthering ties with one of the major promotions and would be willing to work dates with one of them if it benefits smokey Mountain in return. Plus he was never going to stand in the way of any of his guys getting an opportunity like the Heavenly Bodies did versus the Steiners.
So you had Jim Cornette wanting to further his companies interests, help 2 of his wrestlers get a big opportunity and the WWF were also admittedly needing some fresh bodies for the Steiner's to wrestle and The Steiner's and Cornette had mutual respect and a history of sorts and Jim was only too happy to work with Rick and Scott again.
However once they got Jim's foot in the door, he was asked to be Yoko's American spokesman/manager, something he'd probably never have committed to, if he'd been asked beforehand but seeing as he was already there, he agreed to do it because he's thinking "Eh I'm already here, it's good for business relations between SMW & the WWF. Besides I can manage it."
Two things here.
1. This video should be 10 times as long.
2. Corny should open this to the public and charge admission.
Wish he put all this in a museum and give guided tour and back in the territory day stories people would love that

One of the greats. His stories are incredible. And he is a little bit nuts which makes him interesting. I stopped watching wrestling in the mid 90s, but I can listen to Cornette talk wrestling for hours at a time.
I think I read elsewhere in the comments where Jim apparently once said something to the effect of, "Everyone in wrestling is crazy. You're either crazy to start with, so you get into the wrestling business, or crazy people in the business eventually make you crazy."
Jim talking about title belts is spot on. I made championship belts when I was younger. It was ingrained in my mind that the belt was a huge symbol of where you were in the company. Now Vince would get rid of belts if he could.
Met him back in 2014 at a con. I got to spend about 45mins to an hour in 2 days just talking with him. One of the nicest people you will meet. I've learned more from wrestling from talking with him then I did my 18 years of watching it and reading about it in all my years. Very smart guy who knows what he is talking about
He should've also whacked the guy that ran into the ring to tackle Bret Hart with the same tennis racket. Lol

This is one of the many reasons why I love Jim Cornette. He’s a real true diehard wrestling fan. In my book he is the original mark.
His interviews with Bobby the Brian are amazing. Cornette is the greatest living manager, his knowledge of things is like rain man, he’s ran his own promotion, could take bumps, one of the best talkers ever, and his commentary on MLW today is entertaining as always. He’s also hilarious.
The guy is a human encyclopedia! He knows everyboy, everything, every promotions. And the most important thing : HE'S A GREAT STORYTELLER!
He’s like the leather bound encyclopedias printed in 1986 that are lost to time and have never been updated since

I go back and forth with my feelings on cornette but seeing him as a wrestling fan I understand him a bit more
I used to be the same way, I'm not a fan of his persona as a manager, but him irl and being such a fanatic and wrestling historian I could watch him talk about wrestling for hours. You see the excitement in his eyes talking about the history, jim actually cares about wrestling and it's legacy. Imagine how good wwe could be if Vince cared about it 1/2 as much.
Even when I don't agree with him on something I can see where he's coming from. People dismiss him as a cranky old man but when he starts giving out data like attendances, ratings shares, and paychecks adjusted for inflation he has a point about the business being better in the past. I bet just the vast majority of wrestlers today would love to make six figures while getting to sleep in their own beds most nights instead of traveling all over the place to make ends meet.
He’s old school to a fault, I tend to stay away from his political podcast of the experience, but his drive through pod cast answering fan emails is great. He’s doing good work on MLW currently
He's fine when he sticks to wrestling history.
When he gets going on modern wrestling he turns into just an old man bitching that things aren't like they were when he was young and banging rats all the time.

In a perfect world, there would be a physical Wrestling Hall of Fame and Jim would be the curator. I don't always agree with him, especially on politics, but the man is the embodiment of history.

I sold Jim a TV when I worked at Best Buy in Louisville, KY back in the early 2000s. I remember being super stoked just to be in his presence. Very nice guy and I’m glad he’s doing well.
I’m so thankful that we finally get to see The Wrestlers series on Vice. It’s already excellent and Damian is a legend for hosting it.

He cares deeply for his profession. Say what you want about him it is an admirable quality
His Passion for Wrestling is infectious....he still seems like a kid in the candy store after so many years... we should all love something as much as Cornette loves Wrestling.
I can, and have, listen to his podcasts and YT videos all day. What a historian. He gets flack from a lot of people but its just because he loves the sport so much and is such a traditionalist he hates seeing the change. Keep it up Corney!! And that secret room is killer!
He also owns every Marvel comic from the silver age until the early 80s, I believe. Including first appearances of Spider-man, the X-men, Fantastic Four, etc....

This man is a living legend and an encyclopedia of wrestling I'm honored to have seen his work live in the 80's in the sportatorium in Dallas as a kid, the absolute best wrestling manager ever, in my opinion.
Jim is figuratively and literally a walking, talking and breathing wrestling history museum.

The main reason I believe would be he's got too much passion. When there is something he doesn't like in wrestling, he'll make damn sure everyone knows it, and some people don't like being told by someone that a guy they like, they shouldn't like.

Jim Cornette deserves his own documentary, his own series, and a spot in every wrestling hall of fame. The sport owes the man damn near as much as is owes Vince, and Corny hasn’t even come close to how much Vince has wiped his ass with that respect.

Man I was just getting into it. Corny can tell wrestling stories with such classification and draw with in with little effort. They need to do a episode just based on his collection alone.
My spelling will be off but I remember watching an MLB game in the 90's the announcer somehow got onto Gonye right as a player hit a homer, and it's Gone-yay! Was the line as the ball went over the outfield wall!! Lol
