You need to see Anthony do this on his own. Have seen him perform this many times over the years and as amazing as this is it’s got nothing on him on his own. He’s holding back in this performance. There’s so much power to his voice.
Hope by now you’ve been told all about the amazing Anthony Callea. He was runner up in the second series of Australian Idol the year after Guy Sebastian won. Anthony has a truly amazing voice. Hope you’ve checked him out. So glad you like Guy too. I’ve been lucky enough to see them both in concert as well as our darling John Farnham who I’ve seen more times than I can remember. Still praying for him to recover completely from his cancer.
@@anjab8816 No, his parents are Italian. My father first thought it was a Maltese surname as he is Maltese. Then he realised it's Italian, not Maltese. We know Maltese folks with the surname 'Calleja'. Very easy to get it mixed up at a first glance on TV.
Is Tina only 5'2. I have breifly met her twice. Once at a singing in the early 90s but she was sitting down and then at her concert at the Perth Entertainment centre a few days after her friend Michael Hutchence (inxs) passed away and she walked through the audience to a small stage at back of floor seating to sing 3 songs including Never Tear Us Apart from Inxs. On the way to the stage she shook my dads hand. In those days u could stand between the different sections of seating
Anthony is second generation Australian, was runner up of 2004 Australian Idol. Tina was one of the original team on Young Talent Time, based in Melbourne in the 70s.
Anthony did an amazing job singing 'The Prayer' at Burt Newton's funeral. You could see and hear it coming from his very soul. Had me in tears. He's phenomenal.
This is stunning. Anthony Callea’s version from Australian Idol is my all time fav version of The Prayer. I bought his song as soon as Sony released it. The kids and I belt it out in the car with the windows down and it turned right up! ( though we sound a little different 😉😁). So proud of home grown Aussie talent Anthony and Tina! ❤️
I should slap myself, I forgot how good Anthony Callea was! This brought tears to my eyes, so beautiful. Anthony is another Australian Idol Alumni, he’s a really nice person in real life too!
I've said it befire & I'll say it again; Tina Arena has some huge pipes on her such a fantastic voice! Her soft voice is so different from when she really opens up & belts thise chords out. You should do a reaction to her singing Whistle Down the Wind, Andrew Lloyd Webber 50th birthday celebrations, she is fantastic 👍
There's something about this song that brings tears to the eyes. Two legends on stage just doing their thing with a grace that matches the beautiful lyrics.
The first time on Aussie Idol til now - I still get that cold chill right through my chest to my stomach when I hear Anthony hit that note. Even better with Tina!
❤ Anthony Callea ❤have seen him live several times over the years, when he sang the prayer on Idol amazing sang solo the song originally a duet and sang Italian and English phenomenal performance
This is my favourite rendition of the prayer that I’ve ever heard. I love it so much because , especially at the end, it is kept quiet , delicate and prayerful instead of being belted out ,like most of the big names do. Anthony Callera has a beautiful voice too.
During full covid lockdown Anthony and his partner use to upload home performances (after several wines). TH-cam ‘Anthony Callea Tim Campbell I want to know what love is’. Its amazing.
Tina has worked, and worked and worked hard for her success! She started as a child on Young Talent Time! It's beautiful that she shared this special event with Anthony!
And down another Aussie rabbit hole you go. Anthony was runner up on the 2nd season of Australian Idol, he sang The Prayer during the season by himself and after the show released a full version as a single. Absolutely beautiful and rich voice. Arguably Anthony is probably one of the top 5 most successful Australian Idol contestant along with Guy Sebastian and Jessica Mauboy
Anthony & Tina were both child stars on Young Talent Time with well known singer and presenter Johnny Young. Both are of Italian / Australian heritage. Anthony has a spectacular tenor voice and his solo version of The Prayer from 2005 remains an all time Aussie Favourite. He performed this in front of Pavarotti when Luciano toured Australia, performing in Perth the same year, and after this Pavarotti invited him to come to Italy, where he wanted to 'introduce' him to that audience. Welcome to another blindingly bright Aussie Star! ( So many brilliant artists got their start on that show. Every child in Australia wanted to be on it and 'get discovered'! 😆)
I know everyone was raving on about Guy and Bella’s version of this song being amazing and I agree but this here was sung with such vulnerability and softness, especially on Tina’s part. You can feel how delicate it sounds 🧡
Great request from Ian and Rebecca and what a brilliantly stunning version of "The Prayer" Keep em coming Nick, ya know I'm sending ya more requests ....👍👍🔨🥁🦘🙏
I was at this particular concert that night...O.M.G, amazing doesn'tdiscriminate it justice!!!! At the start of the night when I went to my seat there was a young girl about 9 years old with I think her mum and grandmother - I though to myself "you're in for a musical education tonight, young lady!" When they played the intro to this song I recognised it immediately of course, and could barely contain my excitement as I knew T would smash it... then Anthony walked on to the stage and I just thought "well, cutesy time is DEFINITELY over now folks!!!" 😁 😄 Nic, do yourself a favour and get hold of this concert on DVD or online and watch it through - mind blowing, and one of my favourite concerts ever I got to see Tina perform live again this year during a brief break in Melbourne's infamous lockdowns (at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl where they hold Carols by Candlelight every Christmas)...one of the happiest moments of real joy I've had through all the Covid madness of the past 2 years. EVERYONE should see Tina live, even just once, to experience how amazing she truly is.
Thanks for this have followed both ever since she was about 7 years old on our Talent show and and Anthony is also highly recognised talented singer here in Australia.
Omg I saw this again recently and thought "Hhmmm, Nick would loveee this". Great reation brother! Anthony Callea came 2nd in Australian idol and is legendary, since the early 2000s. You should react to more of him in the future, would be interesting. Also I must say, Anthony and Tina are both from Melbourne 🙂 (My city) woo hooo.
I was 4 years old when I first heard Tina sing. She was 6. I was in love with her little show off ways and her voice. Even to this day, that pitch perfect voice has no equal for me. Above the angels!
Thanks for another great review. May the great bird of happiness finally crap on us all something other than Kaka this new year. May our glasses be full. our plates be overflowing and our loves be eternal. Love to all your family and friends.
Hi Glenn Kelly, that would have to be one of the best sentiments l’ve read in a while! No truer words can be said during these times & you made me chuckle lol. Nick’s personal style of reviewing is captivating each time….and this is why we keep coming back for more! Thanks for that and wish you all the best for New Year 2022. Lol
Loving your reaction to our amazing Aussies. Proud feeling indeed. 🇦🇺 Bachelor Girl are my fave aussie group of all time (not buses and trains that’s been done to death)
I was at performing arts high school in the late 90’s with Anthony (think the musical/movie Fame), and he literally sounds EXACTLY the same as he did then, although he’s holding back a LOT in this rendition. Only thing that has changed is that he came out, and now lives his life in glorious, Technicolor camp.
@@MsForwardthinker I mean yes, but also, no? He had this same instrument then, and whilst he has refined his performance and craft as anyone does with time, in essentials it is the same.
Anthony Callea probably the most underrated Australian male artists.
I am just digging the fact that you are riding the crest of Aussie talent with these reactions.
All thanks to the fans they're keeping me sharp
Belt it out Anthony...
Best talent Aussie made ❤️

We Australians watched Tina and Anthony grow up. The first time I heard him sing The Prayer it was for his grandmother on a talent show.
Two very proud Italian Australian family’s here.
Two very proud Australian singers here.
I love how you love our Aussie singers ❤
They are very talented singers and their voices were perfect together. This has to be one of the best covers of The Prayer.

Agreed he didn’t sing to full capacity like he would on his own. Anthony is amazing!
Agree 💯 he can hold his own ..
Yes, Anthony was singing a gentler version with Tina, but it was absolutely gorgeous
I've seen Anthony perform it live 3 times and I cry everytime. ❤️
💯 agree
Both Italian kids from Melbourne. You honour us enormously sir by reviewing our most precious ones ❤️
Actually this is Anthony's signature song from Australian Idol. Tina proudly kept up with him 😋
Wasn’t his song though

Two incredible Italian Australians and people still ask why is Australia in Eurovision - maybe this is one of the reasons why 🇦🇺🇮🇹❤️
Except that neither has sung at Eurovision (sadly)
I think Anthony is of Maltese descent not Italian
Definitely Italian. The Nonni love him dearly.

Huge impeccable voices from two people who are both no taller than 5’2”. Amazing powerhouses.
so, according to you, you have to be tall to have a big voice?

Need a button for more than one thumbs up 👍 long time fan of Tina. Tina always flawless & sings in at least 3 different languages.
Tina and Anthony Exquisitely Stunning Performance Chills and Goose Bumps, Magic Moments.
Fantastic beautifully sung
Anthony Callea's version of this song is the best version of it. The one he does just on his own. So perfectly beautiful.
Citizen of the world she is indeed, she speaks sings and performs around the world in French, Spanish, Italian and English.
Tina Arena on NYE 22 singing ACDC..... much better than I thought
