    Great video! :) Do you have any tips to get the most out of your internship? For example prep in any way or ask certain questions? Thank you!

      Definitely read up on the population your internship primarily works with, for example if it is mainly children with behavior problems try to find some articles and books on Behavior Parent Training or the STARS Manual

    hi i always rewatch your vids when i'm stressed out about my plan after my B.A. lol i saw your response about M.A. programs/schools but wanted to ask if you knew of any other schools that do both programs? i only found out about barry univeristy which prepares students for both doc and working in the field but they're ending that program before i would be able to apply :(
    do you know of any other schools that prepare for both doctoral programs and preparing for working as an LMHC, LPA, LPC, etc like what you did because i'm not sure about committing to one yet just like you mentioned lol

      Omg you’re so sweet🥺 thank you for watching! Here’s the list of schools I looked into when i was applying: Barry University, Vanguard University of Southern California, Alabama A&M University, University of Central Florida, The University of Texas at Tyler, Sam Houston State University, Northwestern State University, The University of Texas at El Paso
      I can’t remember if all of them prepares you for both, you would have to read into it. I hope this helps!!

    Hey! You're so beautiful 😭 thank you so much for this video, it's really helpful! I'm looking for clinical psychology programs but most of the ones that I see are a PhD and not MA/MS :(
    However, I was wondering if you could tell me how we can get licensed after getting a masters in clinical psychology and also is there a different exam for getting licensed in most states in the US?
    Like in general, how does the licensing work😩 it's all so confusing and honestly I'm so overwhelmed 😭
    It'd be great if you could help me out🥺

    • @KyraJanaeee
      @KyraJanaeee  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thank you so much☺️ and yes In most states there are two licensing options for individuals with a masters degree in clinical psychology : LPA vs LPC
      the licensing exam you must take to obtain an LPA is the EPPP (this is the same exam individuals with a PhD or PsyD takes to become a Licensed Psychologist)
      The exam you must take to obtain an LPC is the NCE
      LPCs focus more on counseling and therapy while LPAs focus more on assessment

    Hi Kyra, thank you for doing this video it really helps. I am currently doing my undergraduate in sociology with a minor in psychology. But I am planning to do my M.A. In Clinical Psychology programs. Do you think this will prolong my time in graduate programs, or can this work like that?

    • @KyraJanaeee
      @KyraJanaeee  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as you meet the prerequisite requirements, it shouldn’t prolong your time. Definitely look up all the required psych courses you need, to get into the programs you’re applying to, so that you can get that done while you’re still in undergrad!

    Hi this is super helpful! I'm looking into applying to a clinical psychology ma program (recently finished my undergrad with psychology). So I have a few questions. What's the difference between LPA and LPC? Also, are you able to do both therapy and research with a masters? And is it doable to work full time (8am - 5pm) during weekdays and go to school?

    • @KyraJanaeee
      @KyraJanaeee  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry for the late reply! If you are in a full time program, working full time isn't doable at all. Yes you can do both research and therapy with your masters! LPA is a Licensed Psychological Associate (more focused on assessment/ has to be supervised by a LP) and LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor (more counseling based/ has to be supervised by an LPC-Supervisor). Both licenses allow you to practice from therapy, assessment, research, etc. Hope this helps!

    This was so helpful! Do you know of any accredited online programs for a Masters in Clinical Psychology?

    • @KyraJanaeee
      @KyraJanaeee  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      From what I was told Master’s programs don’t have to be APA accredited, the university must be accredited and the program’s curriculum must be in accordance with the state’s licensing rules. Only PhD and PsyD programs have to be APA accredited.

I understand if you don't want to reveal where you go to school, but can you tell me which programs you considered or if you have a list of the schools that offer an M.A. Clinical Psychology? • @KyraJanaeee
      @KyraJanaeee  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Certified Weenie me too! But there’s a lot you can do with a masters. You can become a counselor/therapist (LPC/LPA). you can go into behavior analysis, forensic, hospital setting, non-profit, or private practice. Clinical psychology is geared towards clinical practice so therapy but i know that many people go on to do research. Also, you can become a professor! I’m pretty sure there are more jobs but this is what I’ve actually seen and talked about!
