Avoiding communication, trying to avoid hurting people... hurts people. THAT is a whole word right there! Well said. Like you, I preordered and out of no where finally got my order..with no tracking. I hope they learned from this. I've forgiven Target and Walmart for their fumbling in the past. I can forgive Whitney but next time... I'm not preordering. I'll wait and use my Ulta points 😁
I am a little concerned. Some people are saying they never got a tracking # but it showed up?? What if someone stole someone’s package??
@@lydiaexploresgrace That's ALWAYS a concern. For some odd reason I got the confirmation days after it was delivered. If you still don't have the package by then I would file a claim with the delivery company (I've had to do that in the past w/ FedEx and UPS b/c they like to mark stuff as delivered even when it wasn't) and let Melanin know. Someone would need to fix it

To clarify: "working in downward strokes from ends to roots" means you start from your ends (cause they are the most important parts) and then you work your way up while simultaneously putting the product on in a downward motion. Hopefully that made sense 🤣
It's like combing your hair. You start at the end and then work your way up. You still comb your hair in a downward motion but you working up as you go.....

I love Whitney also, but I never preorder anything for that reason. You never know when it will show up. Things happen that we can't control.

I would be very frustrated as well if something that I ordered/spent money on didn't arrive as expected and there was little to no communication/response from the company. I'm glad that you finally received your products and that the deep conditioner worked so well for you.

Girl I cancelled my order before I knew Ulta was stocking the product. Thanks Sable cuz I bowed out. The messages should have been about every 2 weeks since July. The ball was dropped and rolled and left under the bed. Still I support the company and product. But just because I support doesn't mean I won't offer critique. I used my DC on Friday and it was just ok. Will not repurchase for the price.
Happy to share my experience (especially considering that a lot of people went through something similar). They are still learning so hopefully this is the stepping stone for something better because great communication can go a long way. Sorry it didn’t work out for you ❤️
Your hair is sooo healthy and gorgeous! I love how it looked after the shampoo application and your curls were really enjoying your detangling method too 😄 You are so much fun to watch btw!!! Just a JOY! 😍 I think I'll definitely have to buy a jar for that strengthening and silkening effect from ULTA though, because I can't deal with the drama when it comes down to getting products; especially when importing them into Canada is dramatic in and of itself, 😂 !

I love your video. I had the same experience. I am a die hard Naptural85 supporter. Unfortunately, I canceled my order on October 3rd. I was over the lack luster communication. I too ordered from Ulta and at the time I cancelled my order, I had the product in hand. Communication cost you nothing. I know things happen and I am not mad at that. I will continue to support. Face it, the product is great. No more pre orders and we must hold her accountable. I am sure the lesson was learned. Thanks for your review.

This is my second video of yours, and I stand on what I said, your reviews are really good and informative, and I've subscribed. Like you, I had this experience, and I wrote a DETAILED emails on communication fails, and they apologized. I am a die hard Nap85, day one, and I had no issue with holding her and the company, RESPECTFULLY though, unlike some. I did however give her grace or understanding because 1) we were dealing with pandemic supply issues, and 2) she had never failed before with her product pre-orders, even with her launch. I have managed big logostical budgets, and sometimes supplies would not come in, and man.. those accountability convos were rough (military), but you learn and I feel the company has. Now if they could only not sell out so fast, I think we have pts and buy fast and in numbers... I never run out. 😆

About the MHC product, I was going to pre-order, and I had the window open for 2 days, but I decided not to because I wanted to see what you all thought first before I spent my coins. Thankfully I didn't cause I forgot all about it and I moved since then so I'm sure I would have never gotten it.

"Apply from ends/tip to root"- she does mean that. It's about nourishing the most dry and fragile part of your hair first.

I forgot this DC was coming out until the youtube videos started going up. I haven't ordered Melanin since the original launch (the cream and oil did nothing for my hair). But if I was still buying her products, and had gone through the waiting saga many of you did, that alone would put me off from ever pre-ordering anything from her in the future.
I was so busy that I forgot I ordered the mask for a couple of weeks within the 5 month period lol it wasnt until someone commented and asked me about it and i was hold up 🤔😂 but yeah I don't think they are doing any more pre-orders in the future
OMG gurl, I just love your videos. I am love, love, love, Melanin products. The shampoo, is the best. It is the first shampoo I have EVER used where my hair does not feel stripped. It actually makes my hair feel as it does when I apply conditioner. It is definitely my staple Shampoo. As long as they do not change the ingredients, I will FOREVER use Melanin shampoo. Hey Fam!!! Glad you finally got your deep conditioner. The review on the product and the rant…lol…was good too. You know I love me some Melanin Hair Care, but I had to stop using because most time the website is sold out of the stuff I use. They keep telling me to buy from the other suppliers when they know those suppliers don’t take Jamaican cards. I so want to try the conditioner, but I can’t deal with when I run out wondering what to do if my hair loves it. My hair got such a set back because I have to be trying new products when my hair got so happy with MHC…smh. I really pray the new facility allows them to stock more items for their actual site so I can buy regularly again. Btw, I love when your Jamaican accent comes out when yuh start to feel di tings 😂😂

I somehow got one of my teo preordered jars and asked for a refund for the missing one. I tried it but seriously need to make time to let it sit, with heat, before I work through the whole jar just doing 5 to 10 mins because I'm in a hurry. Did you put the heat cap on in the shower and bathe with the product in your hair? Also, what collection do you usually use for heat styling prep?
Thank you so much!!! But yes this is one that you need to let it sit to do it’s thing (especially if you have a lower porosity). I used my microwaveable deep conditioning cap so I got the heat I needed from there. I can’t remember what I did when I had the cap on lol but yes use this when you have time and see if you like it
I typically use the Mo knows hair collection to prep my hair for heat styling but I just found out that they took a pause on selling. I’ll let y’all know when it’s back since I really do love those products

ooo thats a good question. the first thing that came to mind when I rinsed it was using it was the mane choice peach black tea mask but its not a perfect comparison since the peach mask has more slip and moisture. I'll get back to you lol
I had to use a lot it didn't have as much slip to it and to get through my hair I need a lot of slip. I have it in my hair as we speak and I used it to soaking wet hair. I have a plastic bag on my head with a towel wrapped to keep heat in we'll see how it goes but if they could add chia seed or something for more slip would be great.

@@briannagarrett5022 i have to do that as well with some strengthening masks. I think because I went straight into heat styling my experience was a bit different. Let me try it when I am wearing my hair curly and I will update you about my experience (or include it in a video)
Hi, did you use two deep conditioners or just one? also, your hair looks amazing!! Your detangling process looks so easy. How often do you detangle and wash your hair? How do you keep it so detangled?
Thank you!! I only used one deep conditioner (the melanin one) as for my detangling it really helps to work the product in and finger detangle first before going in with my brush and i add water for extra slip if i need it. I wash my hair once a week when I'm not being lazy but these days its been every 2 weeks and I try to detangle before I go in with shampoo. For this wash day in particular, I detangled my hair 2 days before so it wasn't too bad. Let me know if that helps or if you have any other questions.

I’ve seen over and over again how well this product line works in low porosity hair. I have VERY HIGH porosity hair. The only product from this line that works is the elongating styling cream. The deep conditioner didn’t do a thing as it doesn’t contain enough protein.
That’s so interesting. I thought someone with high porosity hair would have a better time. Did it just feel like a rinse out conditioner?
@@CurlsofaCPA it didn’t really feel like much. Cuticles were still raised and hair dry. I read the ingredients but didn’t head the warning signs. I had such high hopes.

It may be identical but the percentage will be different because the deep conditioner will be more concentrated than the leave-in or in this case, the multi- purpose
Yeah even though the ingredients are similar the formulation is different. The multi use conditioner definitely light weight compared to the deep conditioner

If I’m doing my hair myself I will but when my cousin does my hair I let her use whatever she needs to use. I haven’t flat ironed my own hair in years but my current fav for blowing out my hair is the new Pattern Beauty heat protectant. Gets my hair smooth and doesn’t weigh it down so it would be great for flat ironing. Not sure if it would prevent heat damage from a flat iron since I haven’t used it for that. Let me know if that answered your question

I ordered April 18th and never received my order. I finally requested a refund. Which sucks because I had a mirror in the order. I requested it be shipped separately because of all the delays but the request was not honored. I love Whitney and the Melanin Haircare brand but this was handled poorly. People who didn't pre-order had their product in hand and I didn't even have tracking information. I will continue to support the brand but I will never pre-order again. Lesson learned.

I still haven't used it yet, the incident left a sour taste in my mouth and I have other products to try so this is on the back burner for now. I will definitely purchase with them again in the future but I wouldn't a pre-order if that's ever an option again. Not to mention I had the shower mirror as a part of the purchase so I don't have that either and not sure if I'll try to reorder 🤷🏽♀️

The fact that this product was made available to Sephora & Ulta BEFORE those who purchased the preorder received theirs, was a huge slap to the face.

I like her products too! I haven’t had any issues with using black soap (well not yet lol) but I’ll keep an eye on that. Right now I use it as needed (not every week)

And did 😂 I mean that in the nicest way possible lol I use a lot of product for a couple reasons 1. I love how my hair feels when each strand is coated and weighed down (so preference) 2. When I’m out of the shower filming or filming with the curtains open there isn’t any steam so my hair dries out and I end up having to work harder to get my hair to respond to the products (which I mentioned in the video) and 3. I have a ton of products in my house, so unless the product is super potent or has specific instructions, I use as much as I want (which is perfectly fine 🤗)
