My father-in-law has been maintenance for a small University for the last 30 years and since they have come out with the pods for washing machines and dishwashers they have had a huge influx of of having to replace the machines and the plumbing because of the plastic clogging
Very sorry to tell you but they do clog pipes. It takes time in some cases years but it does build up over time. Especially in older homes with metal pipes.

Liquid is better over convenience of filament covered soap when it comes to septic systems.
