    I first watched spinal tap when I was like 15 and I didn’t get it. Just rewatched it a couple of days ago and really some of the funniest stuff I’ve ever seen. Very subtle humor.

    For anyone interested in the music theory, those 2 notes he plays are called a tritone which is the famous "devils interval" from medieval times because is sounds very dissonant and "evil". Today that dissonant interval can be heard in a lot of modern metal music, and heavy genres like dubstep and DNB....and of course Indonesian folk.

      That’s why the Stonehenge scene works so well; we already know what’s gonna happen, but instead of cutting to the punchline immediately we hear the song
      And, despite their immaturity and crassness, Stonehenge shows us that they actually do have talent. Had the prop been the right size it’s probable that they’d have gone on to be successful again
      But it isn’t
      And at that stage of the film they go from idiots we laugh at to people we have sympathy and pathos for
