Briton here - have heard of Jeopardy, and know about the 'phrase in the form of a question' rule but never seen a full episode, and don't know all the rules

Canadian here - other than the "phrase in the form of a question" rule, have absolutely no clue about any of the rules (I assume it's similar to other gameshows like who wants to be a millionaire or wheel of fortune, but I don't 100% know how those work either). I also wasn't 100% confident that jeopardy was the "phrase as a question" one until one of the comments made a reference to it.

Oh my gosh, I read your comment aloud to my dad (who was on Jeopardy in 1997), and he said good-naturedly, "Technically you don't answer questions, you listen to clues and answer in the form of a question."
That’s the gist, but the “questions” are statements like “This man has a large forehead and three dogs.” Then the answer is given as a question. “Who is Jacksfilms?” Then they get the money amount from the tile they chose from the board.
Okay so as you saw in the thumbnail, there’s a chart with categories on top and numbers bellow, you get to chose the category and you chose the amount of points you can win 100 being the least and therefore having the simplest clues and 500 being the most and therefore having the harder clues, if you get them right, you get the points. For example, let’s say the category is Latin sayings and you chose 300 points, the speaker will tell you the clues and you will answer it with a question. If you get it right, congrats, you get the 300 points, if you get it wrong, the other contestants get to answer. I believe it works this way, however, I am latina and this show has seldom been broadcasted in my country.

There aren't enough comments up here acknowledging what a genius invention Jack's Haiku jingle was. We recently had a JackAsk where Jack listed some of the favourite in-joke memes of the channel, and I think not listing the Haiku jingle was an obvious oversight.

Canadians absolutely love Jeopardy, especially because the late Alex Trebek hails from our northern land. Can confirm as a student and now a teacher that Jeopardy is a super popular review game to play when studying for exams, although now Kahoot seems to have taken its place.
The forsaken game exists in Canada too 🙏🏽🔥 jeopardy was the best review game. I not only reviewed but got to show it off to my class at the low stakes of a candy or my dignity

Actually I discovered what jeopardy is like last year because of the game theory episode on it. USA culture in general is very spread out to the world, specially in other countrys in America, but I think the studio television shows is like the only exceptions, problably because its have so much interaction with the audience
european here, a lot of the times our TV companies will buy the rights to various shows and remake them for our country, like Family Feud for example, but not Jeopardy

Well there is another show called jeopardy where 8 teens and a teacher from Scotland goes to Australia for study trip however then the group gets separated with some crazy alien stuff , some of them gets killed or kidnapped then only 2 survived. Its been years since I seen that show so yeah.

@@castorsdoodliez It's a tv game show where people choose one of a few cathegories, the host gives you an answer, you need to give a question. So let say you have cathegory is like "composers", the host gives you something like "this violinist is known for his 24 caprices" and you have to answer "Who was Niccolo Paganini?

Quick run down since it's super easy: 5 catagories, with questions that go harder with increasing rewards (100, 200 so on) two rounds, second round is worth double, and then a final question, which you bid on and write in your answer. The answers are given in a question style (like if the answer was my name, it'd be "who is Tyler") there's a few other rules but thats the main gist of the game)

There’s this one recurring dream I have every once in a while.
I’m at a pool party in someones backyard and all the guests are nickelodeon characters. Larry the Lobster is barbecuing steaks and everyone is having a good time.
Out of nowhere, we suddenly get attacked by vampire zombies and I’m chased out to the front yard with spongebob.
We fight the vampire zombies for a bit and after a while they all merge together to form a giant vampire zombie, then they take off running down the road.
The dream then ends in one of two ways. I either ride after them in a go-kart that was definitely there the whole time, or we go back to the party as if nothing happened.

#yiaydream I used to have a recurring nightmare when I was like 8, I’d wake up, get out of bed, and walk down the hall to go downstairs, and at the bottom of the stairs I’d see a ~8ft tall sock monkey heavily breathing and silently staring at me.
Eventually I somehow figured out you can befriend the sock monkey, in which case a montage would play of me and the sock monkey playing at a playground.
No I’m not joking, I had this exact nightmare for a looooooong time, and I’ve always wondered what it means.

Okay, but seriously, Jeopardy is like the one American show that never aired in Europe. I dont get it and the gimmick of answering with questions is stupid
As far as I know, the question gimmick came about because, when the show first started, there were already a number of trivia shows and they didn't want another one just tossed in the mix, so they decided, give the contestants the answers and they'll have to guess the question. All those other shows kinda just died out, but they still keep the gimmick but only kinda, so they basically just ask a question without a question mark and then give an answer that is worded like a question but isn't said like a question. It's real dumb, but it's the way it works. Like the silent K in knight, knife or knee; it was there for a reason, and then it just stuck around long after it was necessary.
I say all this was someone who watches every new episode every single day.

Honestly, I have refused to watch any Twitch "Jeopardy" knock-offs just because I don't know what the original show was / the parody is supposed to be like...
It's on USA Netflix. It's probably the most international-friendly game show we have. Weakest Link is also pretty good.
