Yep, and it had nothing to do with the band breaking up like the media originally was saying. Nathan Gale's friends and his own writing made it clear that he lost his mind and thought Pantera lyrics were his and they stole them. And realize that, no matter how much you may feel for a person, you may never get the chance to square things away 100% with him or her.
Even though this video was made a long time ago, I would like to say that Dime's family should've let him attend the funeral despite the words the media or him had said. I'll tell you why, because Darrel and Phil had walked one hell of a journey to make it happen for Pantera and along with the rest of band. Dime was like the backbone of it and together they made one legacy together which no one will ever forget. They brought a huge impact in music and will continue in the future. Dimebag family failed to see the greater side picture of it all and that is a shame to not let another brother attend his best friend funeral. Everyone could've walked away after the funeral and see that forgiveness was granted. I'm sorry Phil that this has to happen and I know Darrel would've accepted your apologies. R.I.P. Darrel
No. I don't know if you're familiar with the article that he gave 3 weeks before Daryl was killed saying that Darrell&Vinny should be beaten severely and he posed with the picture of Daryl's face in a knife blade on the cover of metal Hammer magazine

My mom and my brother died 1998 and 2005. My older brother was a huge metal head. He literally lived and bleed metal in the 80s and 90s. He introduced me to Pantera and it literally changed my life. I didn’t listen to them for 20 years until recently and at 40 years old I understand there music more than ever!!!

It's been said that the star that shines twice as bright lives half as long. Just look at Metallica. Around for 32 years now, but they are not all they can be anymore, and they know it. In 2003, Pantera went out on top. They all still fully had it except for Phil, and in his case, it was understandable. Crippling back pain combined with such a horrid addiction. Believe me, if you were in his position during that time, you'd only wish for death to put you out of the pain, but he got his shit together, got back up, and is at least trying again.
Slash was at one point called the "cancer" of GnR. People say stupid shit that many times shouldnt be taken literally and if anything the dude that shot Dimebag caused trouble at a Damageplan concert previously so, security could have been more strict. But im not going to blame the band for not hiring better security, simply because its not their fault that what happened did in fact happen but its merely the psychopath gunman, nothing more.
No metal is not dead yet not until I say so So getcha pull and Listin to Damageplan one day my music will find its way im looking to revive what’s dead I want the metal community to be on fire breathing new life
Phil was a bit guilty for Pantera's disbanding. But doesn't mean I don't like him as a musician. He and Dime are some of my greatest sources of inspiration. And I also appreciate the message of apology, though I think he was a bit drunk. RIP Dime 🤧🤘🤘
I just watched 2 Pantera 2023 "tribute band" shows and I enjoyed them alot despite the hate I had to face from friends of mine. Cuz Pantera are my fav band of all times after all, but Phil made some mistakes, some big mistakes. He is human , he is a person, but some mistakes can never be cancelled. I like how he apologizes but the reality is that Dime got depression for what Phil was at that time. It's better to not remember that time guys, trust me. Or if you want a lesson, consider the consequences of every action we all do. There is not enough apology for what happened, not just because Nathan Gale was psycho, not because media are hungry for content, but because Phil left them... Friendship is important, over money and everything else. He miss them and this is the result. RIP Vinnie, RIP Dime, stay strong Phil and teach us how to be better, show us you learned the hardest lesson
There was a lot of raw bad blood back them. The Abbots family has forgiven Phil and given him the blessing to carry on PANTERA. I understand it at the time tho
I don't care what anyone else says... Phil is the fucking man!!!! Dimebag sure would have forgiven him. But Vinnie, on the other hand... bless his heart, he still holds a grudge. I;m sorry, but grudges are ugly and uncool. Especially if the person you hold a grudge against understands completely and fucking atoned many times already!!
Phil wasn't allowed at the funeral because just a week prior, he said Dime should be beaten badly. Dime and Vinnie tried to reach out to Phil multiple times, but his ego got the best of him.
Dude i just cried with you brother, pantera will forever be in my heart as the best band that ever walked the face of this earth.....RIP dime....i love you man
Phil was with Dimebag for 20 years. I wouldn't question his sincerity. Yeah, he said that Dimebag should be "beaten severely", but how many bands have broken up because of an addiction and internal dissent? A million of them. Can't blame Phil for some maniac with a gun
U know what f*** u dude, PHIL WAS REALLY SAD AND HE SAID SORRY TO EVERYONE IN HIS FAMILY FOR SOMETHING HE DIDN'T DO. SOOP U SHOULD JUST F*** RIGHT OFF MAN

@@finestsickman216
They arent part of the big 4 because they arent THRASH.
As for being BIG, Pantera is bigger than all those bands except METALLICA anyway
@@yungpadawan1098
No, its definitely not one of their worst
I am sorry that you went through this with Dimebag and now Vinnie
Wow, I didn’t know this even existed. I have to hand it to Phil for telling the world how he really feels about Dimebag and. Vinnie. Kudos Phil.
Dear Phil Anselmo, apology accepted I think it was all the drugs that made you like the way you were and I am glad you are a better person again.
Hey Phil you did nothing wrong and I will defend you against any bad comments until the day I die and I am thinking of getting a band together to honor Darrell.
Phil hang in there my brother.
"What is this word coming to?" It's very hard to watch this. I still get choked up watching stuff like this.
and nowadays it's even worse than back then
@@zakur0hako yup :(
This brings tears man
I can hardly imagine anything worse than losing somebody you love to an act of random violence, when the two of you aren't getting along and you have said something you regret about him or her. Before anyone decides to hate Phil Anselmo, try as hard as you can to put yourself in his shoes, just for a moment. And realize that, no matter how much you may feel for a person, you may never get the chance to square things away 100% with him or her.
Seeing Phil talking about this breaks my heart💔
@@peck404 that was metal hammer pushing buttons.
sure was but other magazines were pushing buttons with darrell and vince too. THe magazines and media were trying to get all of them to trash talk each other.
And it happened again... Vince gone without Phil and him ever talking again. So sad.
Never once have i cried this much on youtube.
I'll always have mad respect and love for Phil and I will never fully get over Dimebag's death. I wish things never happened like they did with Pantera. Their legendary music will never die. R.I.P. Dimebag you are a legend..
The similarities between him and Randy Orton the resemblance is uncanny. They even sound alike
Dude I was crying like a baby, but I went to laugh as fuck, your fault, right? Lmao.
i dunno what to say i almost cried :(
"This is the last youll be seeing of me in a long time" i genuinely got scared that he was gonna kill himself until i remembered this was over 10 years ago and hes still alive
Phil broke down in tears. this just goes to show how much Dimebag Darrell touched the lives of even the most cold and brutal people. Dime we miss you and would give anything to have you in our lives for just one more day so we can all say goodbye.
one of the saddest thing ive ever watched ;/
Im a young Pantera's fan from S.Korea
Im crying now when watch this video
R.I.P Dime
This is so sad. Phil is the man. And he's dead on in saying "not some band, not some guitar player." Pantera and Dimebag are each one in a trillion.
:(
Still can't believe this happened.
I never was a big Phil fan, but I have a bit more respect for him, as a man, after watching this.
I admire that apology and that eulogy
As much as i can empathise with Vinnie’s side of the story, it breaks my heart the two never made up.
Rest in peace Darrel “Dimebag” Lance Abbot
Rest in peace Vincent “Vinnie”Paul Abbot
I love you too phil
And I love dimebag too :'(
Ive never tought that I would see a tough guy like Phil nearly cry, fr made me tear up dawg.
Just awful timing. How many people told their friends that they were gonna beat their ass while arguing...the media really created the storm. Dude was tossed from the marines for being schizophrenic and tried to attack a band a few days before...he needed to be committed....putting the death on this guy is just cruel and creates more hate. You think he doesn't torture himself enough already over this?
Are you saying that we shouldn't hate the killer for killing Dimebag
@@rileylever6765No, the last sentence is talking about Phil.
Fuck, man...listening to the outro of Floods just makes the tears stream more and more. We love you Dimebag.
I got to see PANTERA seven times and loved every show. FUCKING AMAZING. Phil we all go thru shit and lose people and damn it hurts I KNOW. But brother you gotta kick the heroine that shits evil. TO PANTERA ( I SALUTE YOU ) and we will always love you never forget you and crank up the volume when your playing. You mutherfuckers got me thru some hard times and still do. THANK YOU.
I watched this over and over and it crushes my heart 💔! I miss Dime and now recently Vinny Paul 😭😭😭😭 Phil I will always love you!!! This was never your fault! Pantera will always live on forever! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 RIP Dime and Vinny 🙏🏻🤘🏻😭😭 Phil I love you!
ive never cried so hard in my life, everytime i hear the murder of dimebag or see the footage i just fucking sob, R.I.P dimebag, and im so happy phil didnt result to suicide after all the shit hes been through
this video kills me ever time!!!!!!!! wish dime was still here !!!!!!!! :'(
I remember watching this for the first time after it happened. I had such a huge lump in my throat. It's still hard to watch.
Dimebag was the most kickass guitar player eeeeeevvvvvvveeeerrrr
I remember when this happened. It's impossible for me to imagine what Phil and the others were going through. RIP Dimebag D.
Rip Diamond Darrell, (Dimebag).. Love and respect, a fan
This litteraly made me cry. A guy like Phil doesnt cry for no reason. It hurt him. Dimebag was his brother. Just like all the rest of us. To all you metal magazines, i hope your fuckin happy. Im standing alongside Phil in this. I love you brother. And we all love you Dimebag\m/
The devistation and anger in his voice was frightening
Phil is high as hell! Kind of a shame. Could have been very cathartic.
dude talked like that sober too.. we'd never know for sure if he was loaded or not at that moment
Darrel is certainly my most favourite member of Pantera! ;_;
Wish I could give Phil a hug right on this tape :'(
Just face the fact Mr. Anselmo; the most accountable for Pantera's ruins was your creep deeds. 💁
This is making me cry
Seeing him cry hurts me
never in my life would I of thought Phil would make me cry one day and that day has come .
no im not crying, i was just cutting an onion before i watched this video
I'm sitting here crying like a motherfucking baby. Jesus Christ!
It's been almost 19 years 😢what a tragedy
Phil Anselmo is a badass with a big heart.
"And i never got a chance to say goodbye in the right way and it kills me" man... that broke my heart
I dont understand why he said Dimebag deserved a beating in an interview...
I wish Vinnie would release the audio of the interview Phil gave that he claims he has.
I doubt he has it. If he did he would have released it years ago
VOD713 it was twisted he didn't say that
Vinnie has already heard the interview with Phil saying those exact words. Check out Mtv's behind the music documentary about Pantera.
I can’t even watch this video man, it tears me apart
When dime died. Metal died as well
Pretty true
No metal is not dead yet not until I say so So getcha pull and Listin to Damageplan one day my music will find its way im looking to revive what’s dead I want the metal community to be on fire breathing new life
Looking back this video it still feels very sad. It's hard for Phil to get blamed by people for something he didn't want to happen to his buddy.
I vividly remember watching this as a 15 year old right as it happened. Havent seen this since. Just heart wrenching, my god.
They should have allowed him to come to the funeral.
There was a lot of raw bad blood back them. The Abbots family has forgiven Phil and given him the blessing to carry on PANTERA. I understand it at the time tho
It was still fresh at the time
Is there an uncensored version of this anywhere? I'm sorry, but the beeps are fucking irritating. Otherwise, Phil is the man... he has his words!
shit phill, no one blames u man. it was a crazy ex marine off his meds, RIP Dimeback, ps dont go away forever phill, it would just be more waste
This video breaks my heart. Rest in peace Dime😔
Time heals all wounds
Painters sucks. Dime bags dead and phil is a douch
why wan't he allowed at Dimebag's funeral? I keep getting different stories from different people. What happened for real?
Phil said that Dime should be beat and the family didn't like that.
i heard it was bc the family didnt want too many fans/media at the funeral
What, every interview i've read they say that dimebag's gf Rita Haney said that she didn´t let phil go to his funeral
***** Phil tried to get pantera started again to right when they started damageplan, but since they started DP they turned Phil down.
Phil wasn't allowed at the funeral because just a week prior, he said Dime should be beaten badly. Dime and Vinnie tried to reach out to Phil multiple times, but his ego got the best of him.
Dude i just cried with you brother, pantera will forever be in my heart as the best band that ever walked the face of this earth.....RIP dime....i love you man
Several years ago, I keep in mind my opinion: Phil Anselmo wasn't being honest, sincerely.
+Artur Vicente (Rutra) why'd you say that?
Phil was with Dimebag for 20 years. I wouldn't question his sincerity. Yeah, he said that Dimebag should be "beaten severely", but how many bands have broken up because of an addiction and internal dissent? A million of them. Can't blame Phil for some maniac with a gun
U know what f*** u dude, PHIL WAS REALLY SAD AND HE SAID SORRY TO EVERYONE IN HIS FAMILY FOR SOMETHING HE DIDN'T DO. SOOP U SHOULD JUST F*** RIGHT OFF MAN
Ur opinion my ass
God I just wanna give this man a hug
Alrosa is tore down. Such a sad ending to an amazing venue
He almost broke down just saying Dime. I mean I get it he lost a very long friend. But I would breakdown too if I heard one of my friends get killed but it’s just sad. Dime may shred in heaven.
