    I actually donated my hair! I was in 7th grade and I had 37 inches of hair. I wanted short hair, a bob kinda thing. So, instead of letting my hair go to waste, I donated it to Pantene for Women, since it was a non-profit. When I cut it off, it felt SOOOOO MUCH LIGHTER. I felt great, while giving my hair to someone who needs it. I’m now growing my hair again for wigs and will soon cut it for a non-profit again.

I got it cut to shoulder length and have had it around that length for the past 5 years. I donated to Little Princess Trust and got emailed a cute little pdf certificate. One of the best things I've ever done. And i also felt the huge difference, it was so much lighter, whilst someone was also getting a real hair wig 💖 Good for you for doing that!! 🤩💗

    Speaking of uteruses, my mum used to work for a surgeon. Part of the legal stuff was that if they perform a hysterectomy, they have to photograph the uterus to prove they did the procedure. Is there typically compensation due to adverse effects of the drug. In terms of time lost, compensation, pain and suffering, etc.

    • @Catdragin1
      @Catdragin1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @MrHotBagel the compensation is variable. It's for the time and effort of being on the study. The time it takes at each appointment, the invasivenes of any procedures or tests needed to gather data. By the time any drug, procedure, or treatment gets to the point of human trials, it has already gone through pre-clinical trials and has been tested on human cells or animals. The study wouldn't be approved to move on to human subjects if it was known to be harmful.

    • @Catdragin1
      @Catdragin1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MrHotBagel there are three phases of clinical trials. Phase I, as the name implies, is the very first time it's used in humans. This is a very small number of volunteers, and it's testing for safety and proper dosage. Phase II is testing for effectiveness, and Phase III is comparing it to existing treatments. If you're thinking about volunteering for a study and worried about your safety, look for Phase II/III trials because they've already passed the Phase I and been shown to be safe in most cases. Of course, everyone is different, and what had no side effects for some might have side effects for others.

    Dr Mike, there is a problem with the blood/plasma donation system and I've heard others running into this as well.
    About 20 years ago I went to donate plasma. On the screening questions, I ACCIDENTALLY said yes to "have you ever had sex with a member of the same gender". I have been blacklisted in every clinic in the country, permanently. I have quarterly full STI/STD panels. Every disease you can think of. I have NEVER had a positive result. But no matter what I say or do, or where I get evidence that I'm clean as a whistle, no clinic will even talk to me. I could donate twice a week. Imagine how many donations over the last 20 years!!!! Imagine how many lives I could have saved!! Please talk to someone; anyone, about this. Please. I want to save lives! And nobody in the medical industry (and no politicians) seems to even care. Love this, great video! I’m a hero for babies because I have O+ cmv- blood which is almost considered “golden blood” (if I was O- it would be) as O+ is the most common blood type and only a small percentage of donors are cmv- so my blood is frequently used for sick babies and it makes me feel so good that I’ve potentially helped up to 327 of them with my 109 units that I’ve given since 2004. Because I’m on the bone marrow registry but have never been matched giving blood is my way of physically helping others that I can while I wait and the bonus for me is that it helps keep me on a healthy diet to be healthy enough to donate every 56 days!

    Plasma donation is great for me as a college student. Takes about an hour, and I get paid about $30-50 for the first visit per week, but if I go again the same week, that jumps to anywhere from $70-100. I always go twice per week, every week, unless I'm sick at the time. It comes out to be a reliable $6,000-7,000/year, and only takes about an hour each time I go.

    If you don't want to sign up for medical trials but still help science, there are also many university psychology or economics departments looking for participants for their experiments, which usually don't take long, and can even be reasonably fun.

      You should be grateful they turned you down, what Dr. Mike failed to mention is that people who donated their eggs before have an increased risk of cancer due to the unnatural hormones they're given to produce multiple eggs at the same time. There is some new articles who mention those long term effects on women. It is already proven that it can cause infertility and such, but cancer is the most recent conclusion, because loads of those women with no history of anything in their family developed such conditions a few years after donating their eggs.
      I know you could argue that nearly everything is increasing our chances of cancer nowadays, from food to other things, but the fact that the first articles about this popping up are from 2020 and no one is further researching this is proof enough that its lucrative and swept under the rug for profit.

You have inspired me since I saw a video of yours inspired me to be a doctor. A family doctor to be specific. I am really good in science. I get high grades in tests and am just generally good or decent in lesson. I never thought I would actually be able to do what I really wanted but I usually get B+ to A+s in every lesson. I'm excited for my future due to you showing me a really helpful job for life at a young age. This is proof that the internet can be good but it always isn't good depending how you use it. I want to work abroad.

    Here in the Texas panhandle you only get an average of $30-$50 for each plasma donation. Sometimes they will run a special where they will give a bonus. I did it for a few months but it wasn’t worth the drive after they took away the bonuses. Each state is different for sure, but here with CSL plasma it’s hit and miss

    I know it’s the accepted nomenclature, but in my mind, a donation is something given for free. So I personally wouldn’t call it “donating” sperm, plasma, etc if one is getting paid for it. To me that’s selling, not donating. No judgement against selling…I just think that’s different from donating.
