Michael Hunt yep, there are also these “free trips to China” online (for Instagram famous, etc.), where they basically fly you in to China and do this 16 hours per day treatment for two weeks. And then they are surprised that people burn out during the trip.

Well, you wonder why the quite negative opinion of you on Chinese internet is taking a change for the better. Other than the reason you gave, I would think it's also because as the Chinese viewers get to know you better, they begin to realize "where you come from." You tell the truth about China as you see it and you expose the bad, without omitting the good. You give warnings and advice to foreigners against scams and you also tell us about the desirable side of our homeland, in effect, encouraging tourism. Furthermore, I'm sure you know the Chinese saying, " 路遥知马力日久见人心" meaning "Through a long journey, one realizes the horse's strength. With the passage of time, one knows the human heart." I would guess people are beginning to realize SerpentZA is a good guy! Cheers! Have a safe flight, a great trip and an awesome time in Taiwan.

Thanks for the awesome informative video, I love seeing more insight like this into Chinese media and the workings behind the scenes , especially due to the huge amount of influence and power they have that you've gone over in previous videos. I know I reference and often send people links to the video you did on why it's dangerous to be famous in China as well as the "Nail House" video. Those were so fascinating, and I have also had the pleasure of being able to draw comparisons with similar cases in America where developers/builders did the same thing, basically, although on a much smaller scale than what you showed us. It was pretty cool, and I loved having something useful to bring to the table in that discussion. :-D I referred the other 2 people to your channel and know at least 1 is a sub and watcher now because we chat about some of your videos, heh. I sympathise with your plight Winston. It did however remind me of an experience I had with CCTV years ago when a girl I knew who worked for CCTV and BTV asked me for a date, but it turned out to be a ruse to rope me into a CCTV interview about my impressions of China. later I saw myself on CCTV National Evening News broadcast as an international Investment and banking expert, with some BS about how I was saying it was safe very safe to invest in China and how secure the Bank of China was compared to U.S. and European Banks dubbed over my comments about Bejing hotels and food.

I am so glad your channels exist. You cover a lot of things that are hardly ever talked about in Western media about China and give your take on them how they work in the actual real world.
I've come to like China a lot more and I think you're doing the country a great service, especially when you criticize it, because nobody buys opinions that are 100% positive about a topic as wide open as an entire nation and your stay as a foreigner in it, especially when the cultures are so different.
The good things you talk about get to stand out and shine a lot more, because people are able to put things in relation to each other and get a feeling for how you perceive things thanks to the vast amount of topics you cover.
I wish your channels, your families, your reputation and you yourselves last but not least only the best.
You certainly made me want to travel to China some day a lot more than I used to desire that, formerly just on the scale of "well I want to see a lot of different cultures anyways and China is big and important". Now I have specific interest. :)

No, I don't think that everyone I see on TV gets paid.
However, in certain cases, like the one mentioned in the video above. I'd expect a monetary reward.
Yeh normally people are just happy to get on TV and share what they do. Normally only people who are on TV as their profession (hosts, regular guests, tv personalities) get paid, because obviously it takes so much time to do these shows that it becomes a job. And on a personal side, I wouldn't mind sharing what i do which i love without getting paid, unless it becomes a full time job over a long period of time of course.
I do agree with your point about sharing your passion and maybe inspiring people by doing that. That is very good indeed.
It just depends on the situation, really. And what kind of stuff is getting shared, haha.
