    Steve, this was fantastic! On the kayak, tides are a struggle. But I think this will help me think of them differently and learn them. I can totally relate to the “neighborhood” metaphor. I have some neighborhoods on the delta that I know. What I haven’t done is attach a tide factor to the doors in those neighborhoods. I love it. Also thinking about the fish sheltering from the current is helpful. I’ve always just thought about seems but not the fact that current is also broken by the other structures. It’s good stuff!! Thanks so much.

Both you and the hookup are great for people like myself that want to kill it on the Delta and to have a better understanding of the river. I think actual technique videos would be great to. Not so much the lures and colors, but how to fish whatever lure you are fishing. Most videos on the tube show things so fast or they don't explain it too well. Just an idea. Steve,
    I love the videos and that you respond to your comments. Great info on the Delta. Are you able to show your techniques for the different tides etc... it would be awesome to see what you throw, when you throw a certain bait, explain why you landed the bait where you did etc... based on the tides. I have fished the delta for many years, but not consistently enough to understand the when, why, how and where yet. Maybe you can shoot a longer video and you can explain the entire situation for a particular spot, the tide movement, the bait and the technique. I often wonder should I throw a lure with the tide or run it against the flow...I am probably asking a lot, but I am sure many fisherman who follow you..trust you for your honest knowledge of the Delta and that you are willing to share your knowledge unlike others who try to hide everything. Whatever you can do will be appreciated. Great job!

  • @davidlee5159

    Everything you’ve explained is true. I’ve got many “neighborhoods” from fishing the same delta waters and always adding more. The problem is that often times these neighborhoods don’t always give you the same big bass next time you return even though the conditions are similar. I suppose that’s why we all have multiple rods on our boats and always moving trying to adapt to the best fishing conditions. This is what makes bass fishing so challenging........... the hunt for bass.

  • @tysonprice109
    @tysonprice109 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I caught on a square bill out of Ladds about 4 weeks ago when it was tough and water was 49 degrees. Now I understand exactly why I caught that fish where I caught it ( in the trough near riprap) and that was where the tide was less in an oxbow. The tide was very strong that day.

      Yea-Ish Monroe's neighborhood would be great-I have been hanging out in Mr. Rogers neighborhood lately. I need to find a little more robust specimens - not asking for a tank - but a slow gradual weight increase would be nice.

    Great work, thank you. BTW in my working life I always tried to develop a consistent mental framework to apply to problem solving. It’s a form of mental discipline that filters out the noise to provide better focus... and now you’ve given me the 500 yard neighborhood for bass fishing the delta: I love it!
    Quick question (maybe not so quick). I’m pretty good with my tide tables- but when looking at the maps of the delta I am always confused as to which way, in many of the sloughs, the in or outgoing tides are actually moving. The rivers and major waterways are obvious but many channels meander and have confluences on both ends! Does a current map exist? I’ve seen such a map for SF Bay but not the delta.
    I fish in a kayak so getting the direction of the current flows right (particularly large events) really matters!
    Thanks again. Really was a very good video.

    • @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
      @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You couldn't have said it better. If you use logical problem solving skills that most of use use daily and apply those same skills to fishing things start to get a little easier. I know of no tide charts that show Delta currents. This is what time on the water will teach you and it's also why I like staying in small areas. You learn currents even if you have no idea of tides. My hope is to catch fish in the same spot without running all over.

    Great video and some great info here. Any chance you do an episode on fishing the low tide and where fish move depending on that low tide? I have the hardest time catching fish at the low.

    • @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997
      @indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all Chris-thanks for watching. Second- the answer is yes. Low tide is a killer and I also struggle. I will be asking for everyone's low tide reports. How deep-what mehtod you were using and what type of bank you were fishing. I think if I get enough reports I can do a really good tow tide video that will show some definite trends on what anglers of all skill levels are using to be successful. I have had lot's of questions about low tide fishing.

    Thanks for the great info! New to kayak fishing. This helps a great deal. I see how this affects bass. How about striped bass do they react the same to current or are they more likely to be in the main flow of the rivers?

      I would be staying away from the main channel. Stay in the smaller sloughs and fish deep in the tullies. Worms aad drop shot are king right now. A few days of warm weather may change things and put the fish in a more agressive bite. Fish slow for now.

      Slack tide is a great time to be looking around. Usually the best tides are the first 2 hours of the low incoming or the high outgoing.
