    Great idea I have 4 winches in the garage. They where spares for my ATVs . Need to find that pulley thing for the front and Good to go. Thanks for the idea

    They make synthetic winch cables.

      That would be a great upgrade for it

    Looks good, but that noise and vibration might spook every fish within a 100 feet.

      Haha yeah - I wouldn't recommend using the power to lower the anchor, noise aside it takes too long to let it out that way. Pulling the release pin is silent though. I'm using the winch to pull the anchor back in when I'm ready to move so noise isn't a concern.

      @@mvboutdoors I figured that, just sometimes you might only want to move down the shoreline 50 feet to cast a new spot.

    Im a gadget guy as well but in a john boat i don't see the need i live in Florida and the deepest i anchor in is around 35ft deep offshore yes it would serve a real purpose in 100+feet depth but thats just me still cool video, thanks

    The atv winches that I viewed on Amazon all have a push pull clutch control on the end that MUST be used to engage motor . This means you need to go to the winch to operate. Can you let out anchor line plus retrieve without going back and forth to the winch ?

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      You do have to disengage the lock manually unfortunately

    Great idea how fast you think it is? I constantly fish in 80 Ft of watwe

    • @mvboutdoors
      @mvboutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty slow, most winches are. I think it has around 50ft of line so I would say its more for the shallower side. They sell marine anchors specifically for deep water this was for an ATV so the line isnt as long.

    Where did you get the anchor mount? Can't seem to find it. You say it's called a anchor mate manual ?

      This is what was used but I'm not sure if its available at the moment:
      amzn.to/40XfN5z
      Here is an alternative that would work similarly (also alot cheaper):
      amzn.to/3KrzYTI

    Replace that line with Dyneema or Amsteel

    You really need an anchor that has the eyelet on the bottom to tie off to, then you ziptie the rope to the top eyelet on the anchor. Then when you get stuck you can snap the ziptie and the anchor will flip off of what it's hung on and come back to you. Then you just ziptie it before you anchor up again

      I only recently learned about the zip tie trick, I'm going to give that a try on my kayak anchor for sure.
