Your absolutely right. I'm confident to say, because I know a guy who has the same setup on his bigger boat he runs flats in Charleston SC in and says it holds phenomenally in wind and current. Also I've fished windless days and still drift out of place so this will help wind or not. Perhaps an update in future, I super busy with customer builds and it was a chore to do this video, sorry there was no wind the one day I film a video when it's windy every other day, lol
I used a stake out pole for the last 10 years on my canoes and kayaks... I modded a hookup for an 8 foot pole for my job boat... but yeah, this is interesting too. Your boat still looks awesome and your girl looks great as the Capt!
Nice! Yes those are a great option, we were looking at fabbing some pole mounts on my 12ft build but we will see. Thank you, still love my boat and try to take care of it and continue to mod it slightly here and there. Yes, my daughter is definitely the #1 boat captain!
Question: Without a spring, and due to its light weight, what holds the pole in place? It seems to me that due to it's light weight the "Point" wouldn't dig-in well enough to anchor your boat. Great video! I have a 17 ft. aluminum 8ft beam and a Merc 50 and interested in a Royz; if it will hold my boat. Thx.
No problem, thanks. I haven't had any issues yet, it's pretty nasty mud here in some of our lakes. You get a lot of leverage on it from above so I personally would be shocked if you could get it stuck.
Wow those are SWEET! hey man I commented on one of the TBN TN boat build livestreams. And asked you if you needed someone to edit videos for you. I live in GA and I would be more than happy enough to edit your videos for you. Or at least do the rough edit if you would like.
Cool, but let’s see if it’ll work in current or wind where it counts. I didn’t see a ripple on this test. But if it holds I’m a buyer if cheap enough compared to the micro.
I assure you it holds in current and winds. Tons of guys I know running these in rivers on mud boats and I personally know a guy running one in Charleston SC running his jon on the flats.
With one your boat can spin. It's typically not in circles as the wind doesn't blow in circles but it can rotate 180 degrees or so. Its not that bad or often enough for me to invest in 2, to each their own on that.
Why couldnt u just by a 1 inch 6 ft Long round aluminum rod and insert it into a vertical welded sleeve on front and/or back of boat.. with a nice sharp steep grounded taper? With a pull handle up top. And holes drilled all the way down for those clamp pins, (3 point pins?) put 1 pin above and 1 below sleeve.
Thanks man. I was at the game in Atl when we lost the Natty to Bama. Against my better judgment, I went to the game this time in Indy. It felt great to be there in person when they finally got another Natty. The 40 yr crap was getting old. So was the losing streak to Bama. Alabama will be hell on wheels next year, people forget this was their "rebuilding" year.

Looks can be deceiving. This boat is framed out of 2x2 western red cedar and 11/32 plywood. Incredibly light which is how I achieve such high top speeds in it in my electric outboard test videos. I'll tell you this since you asked about weight on multiple videos- I've seen boats with 800 pounds alone in batteries. I've seen boats with full builds and two 300 pound men fishing out of it. I've seen 14 ft jon boats with over a thousand pounds in them. Guess what? They still float. It's a recommendation. Not a law. If you are very concerned about boat weight, I would strongly recommend not modifying a boat in any way, therefore you can have peace of mind.
Yes with any one shallow water anchoring the boat will allow it to slowly circle around the anchor depending on the conditions. You definitely need two of something for anything but calm conditions. I currently run a Power Pole micro anchor on my 18 foot jon boat with a Venon Downright attached to my trolling motor, but have never been totally comfortable about this setup. It holds fine, but I have always been a little paranoid about putting stress on my shaft and I already have so much crap on my bow that I don't want to add anything else there and I don't really want to add another micro for battery reasons and a complementing manual pole on the transom would kind of defeat the system I have now where I don't have to walk back to deploy. I've been thinking about trying these Royz out for a while now, but have honestly been worried about the how well they would anchor. It seems counter intuitive and I have never found a straight answer about just how much weight this anchor is capable of dealing with. 800 bucks for two is kind of risky!
I live up in the new england area and i fish a river mouth every june for stripers. Theres a spot called joppa flats that has a good amount of current. Will these hold a 16 foot aluminum boat in that kind of stuff?
Im not exactly sure how string the current your talking about but we have sold a ton of them and guys are using them on mud boats in rivers and we know guys using them in Charleston SC on flat fishing boats. They have been good. So long as that pon can sink in they hold really well.
The end is spiked, when you drop them in they penetrate well. The more resistance they get from walking around in boat or waves, the more they sink and grab.
Your entitled to your opinion although for my case I don't agree. 10ft pole in my 14ft boat would suck. Also when I do these product demos I'm not always looking the cheapest option.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats , the reason I asked is I want to do a skiff for the saltwater flats and I’ll be using a push pole , I’ll mount a a pvc tube to the back of The transom with C shape brackets and put the pole in the tube , this will allow for deeper water and will allow the boat to adjust for the tide , plus I don’t have the spike hanging off the back , but the manual unit is cool and a great idea 👍🏼
Yeah man I actually looked at that option and if I were flats fishing that's what I'd do. I looked at a company where you can get different sized poles and mount the spike and t handle. Only problem fir me is I don't need a long length fir bass fishing and it would be super awkward inside my boat. Another example of why I always say all boat mods aren't universal! Different parts and approaches to different styles of fishing or goals for the boat. Good luck with your project man 👊
Hundreds sold, no issues holding in current. Some guys run two. I personally have a friend who uses in Charleston SC in a flats boat and deals with current and tides, holds fine. Sorry, Ijust took it out and filmed one day, conditions were what they were.
If your truly asking why here is my answer- Micro powerpoles require power. They have internal parts that i have seen people break. They use a composite stake, not metal, the driving force of the micro is not what youd think for harder surfaces....My biggest reasons- Micro does not auto adjust to water heights, the Royz is mechanical with moving parts and keeps you anchored regardless of water height change with wakes or currents, if water height changes significantly with micro, you pull out of anchor. Lastly, your number is wrong, 600$ for micro and spike is not included, add another 100$. So 700$. Tbnation.net had Royz on sale around X mas for 300$ so that's less than half the cost of an inferior product. Worth it to me. Just because it has Power Pole stamped on it doesn't mean it the greatest applicable jon boat shallow water anchor.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats fair enough, however, i feel that in that case just a hand stake used in unison with a gheenoe style anchor bracket would be more economoical and easier while addressing the problem you mentioned with the power pole micro
Well you said why spend 400$ on this opposed to spending 600$ on that, not what anchor system is most economical. An anchor stake works fine, I personally do not want to carry an 8 ft pole around in my boat regardless if it saves me a few hundred bucks. If you see value in a product, buy it. If not, don't. That's with anything out there. I really like my Royz and understand why it differs from other products and how it benefits me. Apparently others do as well as Roy has sold a lot of these units the past few months. To each their own I can only say that it works well for me.
It runs on one 48v lithium battery pack which weighs 65 pds. The battery and outboard combined are actually about 5 grand retail but I got the package for free from ePropulsion due to the success of my channel. Lastly, I fish electric only lakes regulated by the state of Georgia, by law no gas outboards are allowed in these waters so a fuel efficient four stroke motor would do absolutely nothing for me as it can't even get wet. Think before you speak because you are wrong on many levels.
Great video. I'm interested in getting one but would like to see it operate in the wind. You don't really need to anchor down in perfectly calm water.
Your absolutely right. I'm confident to say, because I know a guy who has the same setup on his bigger boat he runs flats in Charleston SC in and says it holds phenomenally in wind and current. Neat idea. I would add a 12v linear actuator to it if I bought one. Im on a party pontoon boat though. I dont fish off of my boat, just drink. Lol
I wonder what actuator length would work with it ? Maybe 12”‘extension.. anyone added an actuator yet ?

Micro power pole would hold ur boat just fine if you want an actual power pole. The micro works great for my pontoon and kayak.
Awesome video. thanks. I'll try do it for my tiny boat, Thank You.
No problem. Thanks for checking it out!
The clamp metal is weak, had to weld gussets and "C" clamps for my 17' bass tracker. But it works great!
Good idea, thanks for the input!
That a super sick mod dude. i love it. I wonder if it would hold my 19ft Boat??
I'd like to see something like this with 12 volt linear actuators on it.
$400 bucks for that anchor?!
Great video and demonstration of it, but I ain't spending that much on that. I'll stick with my rope n weight anchor!
Lol. You broke!
Pretty neat! Thanks for the review! I wonder how tough it is to pull in heavy clay mud or similar scenario ?

Only using one anchor pole, does the boat swing around in a circle with the wind or current? Would you recomend two if you had the room?
Yes with any one shallow water anchoring the boat will allow it to slowly circle around the anchor depending on the conditions. You definitely need two of something for anything but calm conditions. Do u need to remove it or just leave it on while you trailering ur boat on the road or even highway?
I leave it. It's bolted on tight and secure. Never had an issue
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats I think urs is a clamp on instead. Cause u don’t have to drill the hole right. U just tighten the bolt.
