- These swans are a conservation success story because they were on the brink of extinction in the mid 1900s. Today their numbers are in the tens of thousands. Trumpeter swans get their name from their trumpet like call. Some authorities believe trumpeter swans and whooper swans should be classified as the same species, but for now they are separated.
Scientific Name: Cygnus buccinator
Range: North America
Size: 25 pounds (11.3kg); 8 foot (2.4m) wingspan
Diet: aquatic plants and berries; insects while young
Lifespan: 20+ years

Today, I saw a flock of 52 swans on the St. Croix River at Hudson, WI. Two of them came to check me out on the ice. I felt honored. 01/03/21
What an awesome sighting!
They are in my pond right now. They sound so beautiful and they are such large birds especially compared to the Canadian goose. Love when they visit.
That's awesome you get to see them in your pond!
Love hearing about conservation stories! Thanks for highlighting this incredible bird!
So glad you enjoyed it! We love learning about animals that have come back from the brink, too. 😊
They are loud, but beautiful in flight and on the water.
A good summary of them honestly!
Oh--- my god I love this video!
Their honk may be the best dang ol' honk I ever did hear, I tell you h'what.
Love trumpeter swans and all waterfowl
Waterfowl are so fun to watch!
0:10 Are you telling me that the bird swooning over Muriel from *_Courage the Cowardly Dog_* was one?
My special needs son really likes trumpeter swans he first heard about them from a movie about them called Trumpet 🎺 Of The Swan 🦢 and has been fond of them ever since. He's also glad they're making a comeback and hopes and prays 🙏 things get better and better for them.
Lovely birds! They winter near us. Sometimes when I’m driving I see them fly over with their big black feet tucked up flat. Always impressive! Wow, I didn’t know they weigh about 25 lbs!
Ahh that's so cool you get to see them in the wild!
Had two fly over my house this week
That would be cool to see! Nice catch!
Beautiful birds! Although their conservation story is very successful, we still have a lot of work to do. It’s unfortunate that the invasive Mute Swans are one of the many barriers we have to get through, driving native fowl like the Trumpeter Swans away due to their aggressive nature and voracious appetites leading to habitat loss for our native fowl, fish, and other marsh dwelling organisms. Great video!
1:16 whoa, who did that guy kill???
I remember watching a movie about them when I was a kid.
My special needs son has too! It is called Trumpet 🎺 Of The Swan 🦢 released in 2000 based on the book written by E. B. White.
That sure is a big bird! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching! 😃
Very interesting 🧐 I would love to studying more about the trumpeter swans in the future
There's so much to learn! Enjoy your studies!! 😊
thank you!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Here in California, we get tundra swans, they are super cool I sometimes see them flying over and we have them at our local marsh.
That sounds so lovely!
Wow. Vocal fry voice.
Yeah I think we've improved a lot on this since we first began. This is a much older video before we had much practice with recording and voiceover. Have to start somewhere 😸
Hi sorry for the late comment. Nice vid i know you will be big and famous one day!
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed the video. =)
They sound like Ichthyornis and geosternbergia from Disney's dinosaur
27秒辺りのはコハクチョウかな。
Do the Marabou stork next
Can you talk about the Tasmanian devil?
Great suggestion! That's on our list. Thanks for watching!! =)
I hope this isn't what someone tried to put in water that was dyed blue but soon all the swans were dead!
The pictures and text are very informative, and I appreciate them. But could you read a bit more slowly and with some expression?
We'll keep that in mind for future videos. Thanks for watching! 😊
💯❤️🐤 especially all the different types which is why I've got a book too, helps keep up with all the various breeds
Have you done a video on pigeons? If not, count this as a recommendation
We have! Here's a link: th-cam.com/video/sBHMWmnReS8/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for watching!

Are Trumpeter Swans the same as Whistler Swans? Are they a native species? Thank you for your information.
😮😮😮😮
the widow myth is a myth.
Who’s here cause of the Minister ?
Mute swans are not good toward Trumpet swans.
Nobody should be killing any swans, or birds for that matter. The same a s s h o l e s you'll see buying steak their first night home after hunting.. It's Disgusting. Unless you actually sustain your family with your meat only...
