- Skip to 9:43 for the actual die setup
First it's recommended that you clean your die before using it, be sure to check the manual to see if your die manufacturer has certain recommendations. For example: Hornady recommends that their seating stem protrudes 3/16" below the base of the die.
After that we'll spray some case lube in the die and set it up in the press, as well as cover Imperial sizing wax and spray case lube.
After that I'll demonstrate how to read a case gauge as well as use the Hornady Headspace Comparator. For an AR the goal it to bump your shoulder -0.002" to -0.004" for proper function and reliability. If you're reloading for a bolt action try to set for -0.002" shoulder bump.

Great video series!!!! This is the kind of explanation we need for this topic.
Good tips, thanks.
Great video.
Once your die is set do you have to measure each piece of brass ?
Does sizing die bell mouth of cartridge for bullet insertion
nice vid
Can you do 1 for .303
Spray method you will get it on the shoulders which is a no no
True! Although I haven't had too many issues with it unless you spray too much. For bulk stuff I don't mind it (if I happen to dent a shoulder I toss it). For precision ammo Imperial wax is my go-to.
Case gages is useless if you are reloading for your own gun and to produce better quality ammo than mass produced factory ammo
If you neck size, then yes a case gauge won't help you out much. For FL sizing they can help you out if you don't want to use a headspace comparator.
@@diyreloading OK Whatever float your boat.

If you have a bunch of ARs or pick up range brass, you are going to want to do a full length size. In my case my ammo has to work and be safe for any rifle I may use or if any buddies want to use my ammo in their rifle
When you have multiple firearms that shoot the same cartridge you need to resize it to SAAMI spec so it’ll fit in the chamber. This comment is idiotic
