NIESEN funicular & SPIEZ tram Swiss alpine rail 1968/59

  • The Swiss Alps have long hosted a variety of electric rail transport making high altitudes accessible to locals & visitors alike. Most survive and thrive like the 1910 Niesen cable hauled funicular railway, captured here in 1968 which we ride from Mülenen to the Niesen Kulm. However, we first ride the bygone 1905 Spiez tram from the Thurnersee lakeside Schiffstation to the BLS rail terminal in 1959 before it closed 25 September 1960. Original 8mm silent cine film voiced by Paul Russenberger in 1999.

    Would you know of whereabouts of cine film taken by late Peter Scott? Peter took cine films of Trolleybuses in Maidstone Teeside. Bradford. Reading.

      Hi, Peter was a great guy, much missed but I've not seen his cine films. I remember he had a stills camera for sure as we used to visit him and vice versa as we lived in the same town whilst I was a kid.
