    Wow ... It's late July of 2022, and this topic has blown up due to 'lost' messages, and conflicted goals on Jan 6. If Carol Leonnig has a Pulitzer, let's nominate her for a Nobel! Amazing journalist!

      @@tammyburke9453 I think Trump was calling the secret service to get rid of Pence. So...the blank call record.
      The secret service was texting each other to make it happen. So...the missing texts. Sounds good to me!

  • @Law_And_Society

    Not almost. Officer Fanone said he actually did have a heart attack. Something he didn't know about until afterwards when he was being treated for his injuries.

    • @evelynbonner3908
      @evelynbonner3908 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, at this moment in time, we have to realize that Secret Service officers are not the only ones who have been asked to give their lives. Think of Officers Fanone, Gonell, Dunn, and Hodges and all the other Capital Police officers. The level of crazy violence in this country makes every public law enforcement official a person in danger. Of course, there are bad cops who are part if the problem. But surely most are good people.

    This was my first time watching Carol Leoning and Marisa Lagos. Carol is amazing to watch and I could listen to her all day. I’m an instant fan. The facts and the research Carol has done on the Secret Service is next level and when they stuffed up in certain situations she was quite compassionate, giving context as to their working conditions. I now want to go and explore all things Carol Leoning.
    Not sure about Marisa….she laughed and giggled a lot and tried to interject comedy throughout this series topic.

      Yes. I've noticed the generations following the Boomers that host the Commonwealth Club- which I used to attend in person when it was an august institution-- are less than desirable. I do not know who or why these people are chosen but they really need to up the bar. I could have done a better interview and I'm not knowledgeable about the Secret Service but I know how to think critically & I know how to focus in on areas that need exploration. Her attire or lack thereof says it all. She, of the bedroom hair, looks like one of the "ladies" the secret service consort with off hours. If her ability to interview was adequate, we might ignore her mode of dress, but her style of interviewing was equally derelict.

      well lets get something straight - he was hindered by Milley who was hyper aware of an attempt like that so he had to outsource to his mutant followers - and they responded in characteristic fashion . If he had his way he would have found a way to get around Milley - and utilize the military - as commander in chief - further emphasizing why he NEVER should have been in that position

      I was young then and youth is stupid because he was EXACTLY spot on, which I realize now-- decades and decades later-- which is probably also why that passing comment stayed in my mind al3l these decades, even though in my naive youth I had dissed it.

    Carol is an excellent journalist and has proven herself many times. Very disappointed to hear her mention Lee Harvey Oswald since it likely means she's another one of the many mainstream journalists who know so little about the murder of JFK. It was exceedingly unlikely Oswald was on the 6th floor and the fatal shot originated from the front. The Secret Service provided "uniquely insecure" protection for the Dallas motorcade and see Vince Palamara's writing on the subject...

    The interviewer behaved like a star struck teenager, giggling & silly. Ms. Leonnig is like Maggie Habberman, who, for whatever reason has been afforded this mythical status. She is subtly pompous & projects this image of knowing a lot more than she really does. This is the only country that makes such a show of protecting VIP's, yet their success rate is questionable. Other world leaders like the Italian President goes to work in a taxi cab, Boris Johnson is seen cycling through London to work.Give me one reason why the entire Trump Family was given secret service protection. This is tax payer money & should be provided when he is on official duty. All other times they should pay for their own protection. The day they leave office the public has no obligation to protect them. Trump had all his kids covered for 1yr after his Presidency ended. The Secret Service are a bunch of trumped up Yahoo!'s who are not accountable to anyone. Their tour of duty should be short with frequent rotation so they don't get too comfortable.

      @@Gandalf47 Trump and his wife like all former Presidents receives lifetime secret Service.His grown children are not entitled to secret Service protection after he has left office.That was and hopefully still enforcedThe Vice President only received 6 months of Secret Service protection by law.However Pence probably deserves atleast 4 years of protection after trump tried to get him killed for doing his duty.
