The reason I can even say the word “wizards” is because of John wall lol this is a great reason to be mad at the wizards for letting such talent go to waste
You made a good case man. I gotta give you that. It reminds me of how Iverson went out, but the thing is the Sixers did sign him ultimately giving him his last opportunity. John Wall could certainly mentor the young guys, play 15 mins a night and sell tickets. They should do it
I will never forgive Leonsis for blackballing Wall. Dude was in a rough spot after an injury and losing his mom. He needed support after he carried the team for almost 10 years but was instead shipped off and shunned. I personally would love to see him back in a Wizards uniform to be a mentor to our young guards, especially Bub Carrington. Lastly, I will gladly be your attorney if anyone wants to debate if Wall got Beal paid or not. That was extremely clear once it became "Beal's" team when Wall was shipped off.
Depends on what your belief system is, but I think sometimes the basketball gods, baseball gods, etc, are real, and sports curses, they really need to be exorcised somehow to break them. I think the wizards might have cursed themselves lol, the way they did wall so dirty as you said. I could rant for 3 hours about what he did for that franchise and city and how the team treated him on the way out was disgusting. There were rumors that the Leonsos family, the father and son, were somewhat racist.
PSA to all Wizards fans Let the John Wall fandom go. While he was a special player, the man hasn’t played 50 games since 2018. John Wall was never an efficient shooter, he was a blur in transition and had a gift for playmaking. With the injuries he lost his athleticism and was never the same player again. Even post injuries the Wizards rewarded him with a max contract, they don’t owe him anything. Wizards stuck with John through his nights at the club, calling out teammates on live television, and ultimately we never made an ECF. John was 30+ when he did the gang sign video. Going through a hard time or not there’s no excuse for that when you’re the franchise PG. That video is the reason he’s not in the league, he’s not blackballed. He did it to himself. You can’t want a rebuild then cry for a 33 year old to rejoin your team. Appreciate what he was and let it go.
@@JoeWhoJoemama28I agree with you to a certain degree dude. Yes, John does have some to blame regarding why he isn’t in the league right now, but I think it’s more of a Wizards distaste problem to let a franchise legend of theirs rot out his last years of his bball career as a FA when John can come in and mentor our young players. We all know John is no longer a star player, let alone a starter in this league. But he can contribute as a backup PG I think, and definitely as a mentor.
@@TheDirtyBucket would welcome him back as a coach in the future. Maybe like when Gortat coached the centers for a summer. Not as a roster spot player. There’s only 15 spots can’t give him one on a rebuilding team.
No. They didn’t. He was signed to that supermax contract during the offseason after the 2016/17 playoffs. Go look it up. In fact, espn did a little segment on it and multiple analysts were so high on wall at that point, they felt he perhaps should turn down the offer and get himself to a team that can actually give him and his talent a chance to compete for titles. Again, go look it up. In fact, wall himslef let the offer sit for two weeks before finally signing it, as he eventually decided the loyalty was more imporant to him than waiting until after 2018 and going into free agency, playing out his 5 year deal he was on.
John Wall never became a great veteran on the bench... If a players over 32, the dude should at least have value in practice and being a good teammate on the bench... John Wall was neither.... Look at UD Haslem in Miami, dude finished all the gum and Gatorade on the bench but dude fires his team and not afraid to praise and call out his teammates... And dudes great during team practice... He defends like it's an NBA playoffs... He was useful to the team with all those years... John Wall had the max and fell off the NBA....
I'm going to say this and I don't care if y'all get mad at me. The way Wizards fans carry on about John Wall, you would think he was Steph Curry, Luka Doncic and Shai Gilegous-Alexander all rolled up into one! The most points Wall averaged in a season in his career was 23ppg, 10 assists and 4.5 rebounds. Which on the surface is good BUT he did it on 45-32-80% shooting splits and averaged 4.1 turnover per game! In fact, 45% was his highest efficiency rating in his career. His average efficiency rating over his career is 18ppg, 8.9 assists on 43-32-77 shooting splits with 3.7 turnover per game! Please stop acting like he is the second coming of Michael Jordan and led the Wizards to multiple championships. He was a good player but I think your nostalgia over him has clouded your vision over what his record really was. He was good, but not amongst the great.
@@peaceful344 tbh, I agree with you to a certain degree dude. Wall wasn’t Curry or Luka, and he was never a superstar even though I think he had the potential to be one had he matured a bit, which he was towards the end. But dude, Wizards fans have had literally NO ONE to root for since like the 70s. The last time we’ve won 50 games in the regular season was in the 1978 season. We have been depraved of all star talent for so long that when we actually do get one in Wall, and he grows up right before our eyes, while also being extremely invested in the community (Wall is probably the most charitable professional athlete ever in the DC/MD community), that we grow a special bond with him, which is why we hold him in high regard. But I agree with you dude, he unfortunately never became the superstar player due to maturity issues but also his injuries. He definitely was on the path to become one though.
Go look at statmuse Go look how many players have averaged 23+ points 10.7+ assists 4+ rebounds 2+ steals and 0.5+ blocks in a season.( one) Go look how many players have had a 1800 point 800 assist 150 steal 40 block season.(one) Go look how many players have averaged 18.7 ppg, 8.9 apg, 4.2 rpg, 1.6 spg, 0.7 bpg for a career.(one) Heck look how many players have even averaged 18.7+ and 8.9+ for a career (five) Heck, look simply for 18+ and 8+ apg for a career!(seven) Go look how many players have averaged at least 17 ppg and 10 apg at 2:56 3 times in their career. ( seems to be oscar, stock, magic, Isiah, KJ, Russ, and Wall. I might have missed a couple) Go look at how many players have had a single season averaging at least 20 ppg 10 apg and 2 spg ( six) Then, go look for playoff history how many players have averaged 27+ and 10+ apg for a playoff run of 10+ games. Telling them he’s just like them and actually showing up to his giveaways and such) We didn’t even get into the things he did in individual games that he hadn’t seen before, such as back to BACK PLAYOFF games of at least 27 points 14 assists 6 rebounds and FOUR steals. Ya he did that the same pkayoffs that he AVERAGED 26 points 11.5 assists 5 rebounds 2 steals ans 1.3 blocks. Lol. Or how about his game Vs Boston where he posted the first game of at least 40 points 13 assists 3 steals and 3 blocks? Or when, during that same postseason, he broke JORDANS record of consecutive points+ assists games of at least 20+7. Jordan 8. Wall finished with 11 straight games over 20 points and 7 dimes. Oh, can’t leave out his game 6 win on the ROAD in a closeout game. Only Wall, Jordan and LeBron posted games with 40+ and 8+ dimes in a context such as that. TLDR; since you brought up his averages, it’s good to know that Wall is literally a one of one when looking at most all of his career averages in various contexts across the board.
Wall was a playmaker. He lifted up everyone around him, because of how dangerous he was to be left unguarded. Stats can't show you that, unless you go really deep and look at what other players average if you take Wall out of equation (and they all were basically bust after Wall got injured). Bradley Beal was a really good player, but even Beal could not carry the team on his back like Wall did. The way Wizards did him in, if I was any other star player I would tell the team to get ducked until they bring Wall back, even on a minimum contract. No honor or decency in Wizards management.
The NBA is not a league. It’s an association. Players entertainment value to these owners is all that matters. like Gil Arenas, his off the court antics and persona outweigh his entertainment value. Next!
I'm a DC native. John Wall is maybe the most overhyped prospect and over rated players of the last 25 years. He didn't get Ariza paid, Kobe did. Otto Porter Jr finally looked like a solid NBA player when he got away from Wall. The Wiz as a whole are one of the most mismanaged franchises in America sport from top to bottom so not all the blame is due to John Wall or Beal, but they deserve some blame.
@@erasmussen14 uh oh. Beware of the incoming comments bro. Also, Wall did get Ariza paid during his stint with the Wizards, I should have been more specific on that.
