One thing that people overlook about the Teenagers and Frankie is that they were not trained and formed by professional talent agents and voice therapists. They didn't have choreographers. They did all that themselves. They created the group and the songs by just singing together on street corners and hallways practicing. This is pure talent in raw form.

Cheap producers learned that they could bang on synthesizers and make rhythms with acts of marginal talent and sell such "Music" to gullible youth through repeated airplay, instead of the money spent on bands and artist development. Thus getting a bigger return on their investment while still cheating the "artists." That's pretty much what happened.

Cause they were! Just kids happy someone wanted to hear what they could do with their voices! Now kids know what to expect and don’t care about development or anything close to building something that will last! They just want to be seen that’s the main goal as before the goal was to show people what you can do as opposed to just offering looks or dance moves how it is now….

It was his superstar exposure to drugs and unscrupulous management with little of Frankie's interests in mind. The movie about him barely scratched the surface. There was a good documentary "I Promise to Remember" about Frankie, made in the early 1980's. Sad.
