My HS band played this my sophomore year and it was absolutely amazing. Most I've ever practiced a song and imo the best our band has ever sounded. Just the best price I've ever had the joy of playing on horn.
hmmm...grade 4...i'm thinking closer to Gr5.......That is some arrangement, beautifully and masterfully woven through the different themes, yet still keeping the basic theme within your conscience. I am a trumpet player, but i have to say that horn section is the bollocks, almost makes what to play the french horn..Well ALMOST ;-) Amazing piece, off the scale in terms of enjoyment and listening pleasure 11/10. Loved playing along with this score. Takes me back to high school senior band - LOL - soooo long ago, yet this song stirred up some long dormant memories that have been recovered, Thank you for that.
C.J. T I’m a horn who has played both grade 4 and 5 music, and I definitely agree with you that a lot of the skills needed to play this song well and are above grade 4.
,As a French hornist, Trumpeter, and trombonist myself, I can say this band song exceeds what is possible in a grade 5 composition. I'm playing this and I'm the only 7th grader there (I'm playing with the 8th grade). I'm gonna play trumpet for this song & it's very hard. Also, while I look at the trombone sheet music I saw that high c and I was morbid; also I know for a fact if I'd ever played the French horn part my emborchure would be destroyed to a point of no return. Also for the woodwind parts they look like some type of orchestral composition (and are very hard to play as always). Overall, I can say the grade level of Silverado is at least a 5.5 or even a 6. .
@@sarahscogin9059 bassoon could be considered but Clarinet? No. Now if you're including oboe, you would have a stronger argument. But yes, horn is awesome.
Grade 4? I think not. Grade 5 and you'd better have one heck of a horn section. And having played this under the batons of both Messrs. Broughton and Bass, this tempo is way too deliberate.
OMG, I have been searching for this song for a year now. I have a recording of it (by Foothills concert band, Calgary) and couldn't find the name... until now.
I play 2nd trombone in this piece. At 1:34, the 1st trombone next to me was complaining about a high C he can't get. Definitely pushes the limits of trombones, not just horns! Edit: Band director told me the other day that this is actually a grade 6
This song is amazing (but the 1st Trombone's C in measure 122 should've been a C#) Edit: Never mind, it was a D Edit 2: I just realized I can't hear 1st trumpet very well
First trumpets are barely heard when they have those beautiful octave notes. First trombone actually shouldve been a C. The reason is because the horns play those 16s concert Bb and D then trombones come in
Oo that sucks, I don’t know how many horns my new band will have but I know it’s a good number because I’m going in their honor band, while I’m a freshman
An absolutely superb arrangement, however all playing prior to rehearsal mark 58 is much too slow. Listen to the original filmscore recording and it's a raucous ride! Oh and as an accomplished horn player, currently studying under one of the legends in Hollywood, I approve of this arrangement of one of my all-time favorite movie scores!
Im in middle school band... After listening to this, I'm wondering why our music teacher wants us to listen to this... our we supposed to play this? Ummmm.... help.
Someone is off their rocker if they think this anything less than a grade 5-6. Also, whoever recorded this took the fanfare WAY too slow. And there should be a piu mosso at bar 38. Jeez.
As a french horner, I approve this masterpiece. This is magnificent!
I am a clarinet player and I love the horn part than my own parts.
The horn part is amazing!!!!
Yes
im a trumpet and it is amazing
As a fellow French hornist, I also approve
I can confirm that this song, especially the horns is even more beautiful live
As a french horn id like to thank this composer for giving us a cool part finally
WHAT?! You have the best and biggest parts! Jurassic Park, Star Wars, literally everything composed by John Williams, Wagner, Mahler, Giacchino
You'll need a mad Horn section to play this!
as a horn player, yes. this song physically hurts.
Well I've got a mad horn section! Hell yeah let's do this!
@@xavieram1156 I started learning this piece and it definitely is challenging lol, you gotta have a looot of endurance but in the end it pays off

Theres on french horn in our band who would carry his section

WARNING: DO NOT attempt to slow down the playback speed in order to practice it slower. Trust me. It's not pretty.
true true
You wouldn't need to its already quite slow
@evontisjackson1191
Try playing the 16th note section on a marimba
I blew my chops out every single time on the high Bb for F horn...
I did too lol
It was a B natural 😂😂
So uh yeah horn is pretty much the best instrument :)
3rd best next to clarinet and bassoon - 😏😏😏😏

I would love to play this but I do not know if my horn section is THAT good. The section is good but not like ridiculously good.
Agreed.
My band director told me this is actually a grade 6
ITS ALL SUBJECTIVE BUDDY
Even as someone who never has played a French horn, those high notes physically hurt me...
they do hehe
I can play them😂😂
i can play some im a trumpet
That horn tho
that ending is beautiful
I’ve listened to this probably 100 times over the past few weeks and I can’t help but notice how Copland-esque that this arrangement is 😁
As a French horn player. I approve
youtube has been recommending me a lot of grade 4 pieces and they all have had amazing horn parts
The mesmerizing start of the piece made me stay and I wasn't disappointing!
Tuba player here.... and I live for the low part at 3:20
As a bass clarinet player, I agree!
This was one of my favorite pieces to play for wind band
that entrance literally gave me a jumpscare
Randol Bass is an incredibly talented arranger!
this song gives off major "end of a story" vibes and i love it
its the end credits to the movie so it literally is 😆
I am a french horn player, I love this music
This piece is insane. Especially on Alto Saxophone
Good arrangement, especially nice to see the eng horn part and i feel for the first clarinets.
Wonderful score! Well performed too.
Brooo i had my earbuds in and in the beggining when fh played im like wjat type of car horn is that😂😂i tought someone blew their car horn outside
i'm playing this as a french horn and holy- this is majestic

These soundtracks make a great Western as big as the West.
Awesome piece and awesome recording
Great work
My middle school band is playing this WOW
Time for band practice to get ready for spring concert. Gee we're gonna do Silverado? What a challenge!"
The US Army Field Band played this exact arrangement on a concert I attended

as a trombone player I saw that part and was literally shocked 💀💀 it’s definitely a grade 6 instead of 4
that woodwind part -
0:45 is when the flutes come in and also close to measure 14
I love your music it is awesome
THE PICCOLO PART
Going to learn this on the Horn
I am right now, it’s awesome
Playing this in my High-school and oh boy it stressed me at first so much but now it getting better. ( Bass Clarinet )

Horns FTW!!
I'm playing this... and I'm a horn... someone please make a coffin for my chops.

Obinna Nwakwue no we are not... my bad. I was looking around the beginning at measure 30. Sorry for the confusion
Obinna Nwakwue but we definitely are both correct on the first trumpet part. Not heard much
@@samuelsong3115 yes, not a lot of 1st trumpet, would've loved to hear those high Cs (concert Bb) more, and that C in measure 31ish is fine
Grade 4?
Sedona motif?
Is it a generalized motif used in many songs or is this actually a Sedona callback? Or other way around?
Is anyone here from the USFL championship? 🙋🏻♀️
I would fricking love to play this if I wasn't the only french horn
Grade 4.5
Crazy how the english horn didnt get the middle register obor solo, but regardless so good🤧🤧
this sounds like sedona by steven reinke lol
