I was 11 when this movie came out and my mother was 30. She snuck us in to a drive in movie theather by having us hide under the seats of her 1984 plymouth voyageur. I am now 36 and she has since passed away. Love you mom.

With LL Cool J jabbing the hell out of the shark's eye with his cross, in the HIGHLY unlikely event that you ever find yourself attacked by a shark or a gator, that's actually a great method to get it to let go! 😂This movie is classic. I was always so happy LL Cool J lived to the end!
I liked that they made him the chef. Anyone who's worked in a kitchen knows that you have to be able to adapt and think on your feet in a stressful situation, so it makes sense that he's better at surviving than the scientists. He's also religious, so him using his cross to do exactly what he should have done also makes it seem like it was his faith coming through for him. Then again, living and working in a shark research facility, it's also pretty likely that he'd had conversations before about what to do in case of a shark attack. (And any time someone repeatedly stabs someone or something with a crucifix I can't help but think of The Exorcist.)

Saw this on my birthday. When Sam Jackson started his speech, all I could think was how funny it'd be if a shark suddenly ate him. When it happened, the entire theater screamed except for me. I was mad because I was like are they having a cookout and didn’t tell us?! Turns out it was a surprise party for my 16th birthday. I cried😅

This is one of those movies that changed at the last minute thanks to the test audiences. Originally, the doctor lady in charge was going to make it, but the test audience said no, it's all her fault, she's gotta go! So they had her get et by the shark at the end. I actually hate that she didn’t make it, yea it was her fault, but cmon she had a noble cause, fck them sharks she ain’t do anything wrong, ya gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette(an LL omelette lol), and ya gotta mess with a few sharks brains to cure Alzheimer’s I guess lol. Plus the way she thought to electrocute that shark was genius she did that like a boss and she was brave asf to use herself as bait in the end. She was dope she should’ve made it. watched this movie on friday with two firends, and we fucking cracked up at the Samuel L death scene, and then my friend guessed the sushi one liner at the end five secods before it happened. This is a cinematic masterpiece 10/10 no notes.

Fun fact: In the original ending of this movie, all 3 of the main characters survived at the end, including the female science lady Susan. But when they did the test screenings for the film, the audience did not like that ending at all. They did NOT want her to live. So they re-shot the ending to have her character killed off at the very end. It’s kinda understandable since her character was the one who caused all this, so it’s kinda fitting that she ends up dying too lol
Love how the shark looked at and recognized Susan, before killing her. It's like it was letting her know that what she did was messed up. Also, the "you ate my bird" line always makes me smile and killing off Samuel L. Jackson's character right in the middle of his heroic, uplifting speech was a genius move by the filmmakers.
It was a genius move, me and a bunch of my mates were round mine watching it on vhs when it first came out to rent, we all pissed ourselves laughing at that bit and kept bringing it up in conversation for weeks

if I remember right, they changed the ending of this movie, originally ll cool j died and the lady survived, but test auduences hated her and loved ll, so they reshot the ending to this one, which I definately prefer
