Squidward - not humble, arrogant, and thinking he's too good for this, perceives himself as above everyone. If he wasn't so vain, he could make the most of his circumstances.
Benson - once a famous drummer, now a park manager. Even though it's not what he wanted, he's content and makes the most out of it. That's the reason why he's so hard on Mordo and Rigby; his identity is tied to his job. Additionally, he sees them as a younger version of himself
I'd much rather work for a more sensible boss like Benson than a greedy slave master like Mr. Krabs.

I remember one episode where Squid gets electrocuted and suddenly got a positive outlook, things started going well for him just for being friendly, great at work and just enjoying himself instead of being stuck up. Maybe he could’ve even succeeded his dreams if he stayed like so.

Even as a kid I could recognize that benson was just a stressed out boss trying to run the place and having to deal with two slackers who repeatedly destroy the park, often on accident but still. I had no idea why he didn’t just fire them. I genuinely thought he was a saint for repeatedly giving them chances and them blowing it. When they weren’t being slackers benson was genuinely a cool guy to hang out with and can also be a fun guy to be around, he just knows there’s a time and a place for working and for goofing off.
Benson crying about losing his job almost made me cry ngl I really felt for him.
Tbh as an older brother I always understood Benson especially when my mom used to give me tasks with my brother and he ends up fucking it up and I get to pay the price while he simply say sorry and calls it a day
As a kid, I used to hate Benson because he treats Mordecai and Rigby like garbage and now as an adult, I can definitely understand his anger towards them.

What I don’t understand is why you even defend Mordecai and Rigby in the first place at all as a kid when it was clear as day that they were slackers. I mean it was right there in front of you that have Benson reason to be angry with them. Why does it take being an adult to understand Benson?
He usually made me laugh and also annoyed me cause of how he treated them. But now that I’m grown up, he’s actually one of my favourites cause of how relatable he is.
@@jamestolbert1856 growing up shouldnt tell you how in the wrong Mordecai and Rigby were. The show showed clear as day how Mordecai and Rigby were a bunch of idiots and as why benson was mad at them. The show clearly shows us this from day 1. I can understand a literal elementary schooler aged child not understanding but a teenager is a different matter.

At first, I didn’t really like Benson because he remind me a little bit too much of adults yelling at me when I was growing up. Later on I grown to appreciate the guy just like with Rigby the guy really grow on me and had the best developments I’ve seen in cartoons It’s rare for me to see a cartoon character, actually gain character development and becoming a genuinely interesting character. One of my favorite episode is the worlds best boss coffee cup we’re all of the park employees try to get a cup that says the world‘s best boss for the guy for his anniversary really showing how everyone has and how far Benson has come from being a guy who would just yell at Mordecai and Rigby to genuine person.
Benson is prolly the heart of regular show, you can be fun when you’re an adult but you can’t forget your responsibilities, that’s basically what the show is

Although i WILL say that Mordecai being this careless during work is rather OoC, this is something you expect from Rigby more often than not

12 year old me never truly hated Benson, but I didn't like the way he would sometimes treat the main duo (especially in "The Best Burger in the World"), but now I completely understand Benson's frustrations with Mordecai and Rigby. As much as I love the slacker duo, Benson's anger towards them is very justified.

Benson isn't a bad guy, or heck- even a bad boss. He just simply has standards and expectations, and I think deep down he really does enjoy Mordo and Rigby's presence at the park. If he didn't, they would've been let go a whiles ago (For real.)

I'd take Benson any day over someone as scummy as Mr Krabs.
I used to think Benson was just a poor man's squidward. But Benson showed more layers on his character. Squidward had it too in earlier seasons. But what regular show's benson had over Squidward is character development. It's not Squidward's fault as Spongebob followed an episodic format. While Regular show became more and more serialized.
Benson was a cool person you can hang out with. Only time I hated his guts so much would be the burger episode.

As an adult I still hate benson
I was bullied relentlessly but never fought back. I would give you the 4 reasons as to why I never fought back but I will skip that and just tell you the 4th reason:
I’m a martial artist but refused to fight back because it is the responsibility to make sure students are kept in check. If I fought back against my bullies, the teacher would be blamed for not keeping things together. I wasn’t going to jeopardize my teacher’s job just because I wanted to make myself feel better or defend myself. Students don’t take into account a teacher’s well being but I do. Therefore, I am completely on Benson’s side. And it drives me nuts that when people wish to be the responsible one, people calls that person someone who hates fun. Which is why Mordecai and Rigby have been driving me nuts since I was 15.

Hey everyone can answer my question please? How is Benson like Squidward from SpongeBob? Like Benson is only mean and jerky because Mordecai and Rigby are shitty employees but he doesn't hate him he just hates the things they do. He even admitted it in the episode Busted Cart where he said he doesn't hate him he just hates the things they do. Squidward does hate SpongeBob and Patrick and would leave them for dead if he could. And Squidward does hate his job Benson doesn't. If anyone is like Squidward it's Eustace Bagge from Courage the Cowardly Dog. Or Scoutmaster Lumpus from Camp Lazlo. Cause Eustace does hate Courage, Same with Lumpus and his job and the campers at Camp kidney. Especially Lazlo.
*I don't. I have never done so ever since the episode The Best Burger in the World. That episode, that one episode alone, completely ruined Benson for me and nothing will ever redeem him from what he did in that episode.*

There are instances in the show where Mordecai and Rigby are in the wrong and yet people still side with them. As a kid why should I even side with the duo? What, just because they are the main characters? Mordecai and Rigby are slackers.
Look I love Benson since day 1 but I can never understand when people say
“Benson is a good boss because he gives Mordecai and Rigby so many chances.”
What kind of dumb statement is that? It’s not Benson, it’s the writers! If Mordecai and Rigby were fired from the park there would be no plot. If those two were fired or let go from this park job they would get the job back by the end of that episode; the whole “YOURE FIRED” stuff is just a running gag.
Think of Alvin and the chipmunks. Alvin finally realizes how much of a pain he is to Dave and at the end of the movie he goes back to being that pain in the ass as if he learned nothing of what he had realized. Why? Because if there was no longer that gag, there would be no plot for movie or show they leave him that way.
Same for Mordecai and Rigby. They could blow up a planet and still have their jobs. There is no Benson giving them many chances; it’s the writers that need the main characters to stay at the park because if there is no park for them there is no plot. I don’t mean to sound condescending but come on guys, use your heads. If Mordecai fans Rigby were fired and were still unemployed for like 10 more episodes or for an entire season than it would be more realistic but since they always have their jobs, it’s the writers not Benson.
Like Benson is only jerky because of Mordecai and Rigby. Squidward, Eustace, Scoutmaster Lumpus are mean and jerky 24/7. And do hate the people around them and would leave them dead. Benson wouldn't.
I relate to Benson despite being 13. Basically I relate to him because we both have anger issues
