    Science knows no borders. China has embraced basic science and research for decades. Meet renowned Chinese mathematician Shing-Tung Yau, chair professor at Tsinghua University and chairman of the International Congress of Basic Science. Professor Yau is known for a wide variety of contributions to mathematics and theoretical physics. His efforts to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western scientific communities have aided international collaboration and global mathematics research.

    I agreed with Prof. Yau 👍🌹.. Great interview 👌💐 to Ms. Tian Wei..

    Professor is right. Riemann geometry best describes the world we live in. Einstein was a great theoretician, he needed his first wife, Mileva Maric, a Serbian mathematician, to do mathematical proof of his theories.

      “Albert wasn’t very bright,” she was once reported somewhere or other to say.

    The development of Artificial Intelligence is a much better thing if its control is in a system that is in the public interest.

    Chinese are crazy!! I'm a chinese american and my child is a gifted kid. Per duke tip and johns hopkins CTY (gifted kid programs), if you achieved something like 760/800 or above SAT Math, or 33/36 ACT Math or above at age 11 or younger, you are gifted. my child's scores were 780/800 SAT Math and 35/36 ACT Math, and STEM at age 11. We attended the grand ceremony at Duke and Johns Hopkins, BAM!!!, 50%+ of those kids (2,000 or so) were of Chinese descendants like my child!!! ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!!! the wht kids were like no more than 15%. the indian kids were like 30%+ too. Chinese is just too good at math. Math = high tech jobs = good salary/stock options. btw, my child got rejected at mit and stanford, but made it to EECS/aerospace engineering at 2nd tier UC berkeley.

    Not to argue with what was said but I always found innovation to be a logical progression of what was truely understood. It was just the next step , one usually out of the capacities of the society.
    Emergence from chaos is not something that happens often , unless it's in the nature of a car crashing :)
    I do think the complexity of our systems are getting to be to much for the individual to accomodate in a lifetime let alone innovate upon unless we have help, a Artificial Intelligence.

      yeah, true but science is also based on facts though its not absolute and have flaws but it is still a great rationale concept from where emerges new concepts. For me thw greatest scientist lived ever is NIKOLA TESLA, who is the pioneer of electricity snd magnetism and the progress which we are witnessing today and Manahattan Project is the greatest flaw of science. Science should be for the people, welfare of humnakind and proponent of world peace!

    16:19 that's a reality, imagine the number of Einsteins and Tesla and Darwins lost due to deprivation and exploitation of the African and Asian continent.

      Not sure abut Africa but Asian yes. There's a reason Chinese used to be the top dog in science and tech at one point of time without stealing and colonizing anybody.

    string theory is put forward by Michio kaku, no? Professor is stressing Einstein, who developed theory of relativity!

    • @existentialbaby
      @existentialbaby หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      michio kaku has nearly zero contribution to string theory, he's more of a cheergirl for other scientists.

    • @sabinsaurav4924
      @sabinsaurav4924 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@existentialbaby That's true, Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Kaku are just popularizing Science rather than researching. Professor Carl Sagan was the prime one trying to explain physics and science in simpler language in layman's terms rather than using fancy scientific technical terms. Then who developed string theory? Your reply is more like a rebuke. thanks!

      @halhal-my4pt หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He initiated string field theory out of string theory which provided mathematical framework and focus to investigate. Its a heaven for pure mathematicians. Do not compare Kaku with a real clown i.e. Tyson. While Kaku helps you to wonder and think, Tyson shows how smart he is and how dumb you are. He lack original ideas. A parrot can do that but definitely not what Kaku does.

    I didnt work for money, 42 months I have not even for a second though about money. My creativity was going step after step until I gave birth of my invention.
    But the bullshiter wants more, so that I will work and he can steal, I tell the bullshiter this is my limit the bullshiter keeps pushing even more.
