Having to wait until someone tells me to leave or wait on the team to pack up is one of my biggest peeves about public accounting audit. Thankfully this is much less of an issue now that my firm is remote. Once I hit my 8 hours I log off ☺️

Everything you touched on is so true. The CPA guilt is so real in public. I didn't finish mine until I had left public but working the hours makes it so hard. At my firm you couldn't get promoted to senior until you got your CPA. You will definitely get it done, I'm rooting for you.

I didnt know some firms didn't let you get promoted to senior without a CPA :O I can only imagine the pressure! And thank you so much sis 😊 💕

I was in the same boat as The Accounting Struggle. I could not pass an exam when I was working in audit at Deloitte. I thought I’d have time after busy season ended, but then they schedule me for a client in another state for summer 2019...and this client had a 6/30 year end so it was gonna be ANOTHER busy season...so I quit shortly after finding out about that. I was able to pass all 4 exams while working in industry and passed them all within a year! My old firm was the same as other companies. They wouldn’t give you the title “senior” until you got your CPA. You’re known as an “in-charge” until you get your cpa and you won’t get promoted to manager until you get your license. Public life was rough and I agree with all of the 5 points you made. It ain’t for everyone but I’m glad to see you’re still there! I only lasted 7 months before quitting lol

Do you get a raise from first year moving to second year?

Yes, this year is up in the air for a lot of firms since the pandemic has occurred, but you usually get some form of a raise! Depends on a lot of factors for the %.

so I’m 20 about to start my 3rd year in college, and I realize that I won’t be able to apply for internships until next year since I need to get some classes done. Is 21 too old to be an intern? I feel like I’m so late on my career path and I’m doing things wrong lol!!
