    As a native Cantonese speaker, I just realise how we had omitted lots of words that we would say in English by looking at the English subtitle

    Does Cantonese use traditional Chinese script or simplified Chinese script?

    • @user-mo9qs8vy1r
      @user-mo9qs8vy1r 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      traditional

    • @OkThisllbeMyName
      @OkThisllbeMyName 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Trad in hk, Macau and simplified elsewhere (guangdong, Malaysia etc) but since people in those places don’t usually type cantonese so most cantonese u see online are in traditional.

      It doesn't depend on the language, it depends on the location.
      HK, Macao, as well as Taiwan, use Traditional.
      Mainland China (which includes the Guangdong province that has many Cantonese speakers), Malaysia, Singapore, basically other countries with a significant Chinese population, use Simplified.
      In all other countries with small communities of Chinese people, then it depends on where the majority had hailed from.

    (Standard Mandarin + Northern Vietnamese dialect) / 2 = Cantonese
    (Northern Vietnamese dialect + Thai) / 2 = Southern Vietnamese dialect
    Well that's fun
