    Jeremy, you have hit the BELL. Very informative series of videos on the HB. Helix G4N. One other little trick to select Views, is push and hold view button for 3 seconds. This then allows you to select either SONAR, CHART, and one other group of views. From either one of SONAR or CHART you can select whatever you want in say Sonar if you don't have it saved on 3 speed buttons. I know from being a longtime HB user, I found a few more important tidbits of Information. You can actually teach an OLD DOG new tricks.

    Great video! Very informative. On my unit depth colors adjust the water color on the map from 1-10. One being a darker blue to ten being a faint blue. The deeper water is a darker blue and the shallow water is a lighter blue. Thanks for the series it has helped a lot.

    You mentioned that in shallow water we can turn sonar off, and the pinging would stop. So down imaging, side imaging, 360, and mega live never ping?

    WOW great videos Jeremy, lots of details..I am looking to buy a new fishfinder.... question is what is the difference between the Gen3 and Gen4 is it just the networking capabilities or are the images better on the Gen4..what are the differences..Thanks in advance

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks alot and appreciate the comment. The main differences are that the helix g4n is wifi capable. Beyond that they added some more power and frequencies to the g4n which I believe gets just a little better picture compared go the g3n. Both remarkablly better than the gen 1 and g2n humminbird helix units

    Hi!
    Im trying to find and answer for something that even the Humminbird technical support don't know the answer to!
    I want to record live sonar onto my Helix G4N SD card. The max capacity of the card you can use is 32GB.
    How long will I be able to record to the card before it fills it up?

  • @msherrill25

    Jeremy,
    I really appreciate the videos. I have watched several times as I prepare for using my new Helix. I bought the "Humminbird HELIX 10 CHIRP MEGA SI GPS G4N Fish Finder/Chartplotter" and I am having this installed on a stinger 175c. I am still waiting on the Ultrex trolling motor to arrive (backordered) and my " 411250-1 MEGA 360 Imaging Ultrex" transducer is finally on the way. My question is: I would like a second unit to have on the Bow, what would you recommend for that unit or should I have the Helix 10 installed on the bow and have a different unit for my partner on the back deck at the console?

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I were you I would keep the Helix 10 si g4n at the console and put a helix 9 r 10 sonar gps at the bow. You can save some money this way and if you network the 2 humminbirds together you will have si and di up front ad well even if it isn't a si or di unit

      The only problem with this approach is the SI and DI will be starting at the back of the boat instead of right under you at the bow. I myself prefer to be seeing whats right below me and accross from me as it's kind of useless to jig up and down on the bow for something that's behind the boat and to cast towards something that's behind the boat. @@HumminbirdHelp

  • @kylecasetta4091

    Will the g4n connect with a g3n via Ethernet cable? Have a 4n at the helm was thinking about adding another helix 7 at the bow to link to it found a clearance g3n cheap was wondering if they are compatible. G4 has mega SI and di. G3n is basic sonar gps

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it certainly will. As long as they have the n in the g3 r g4 even g2n. Also if u get the basic sonar it will have si and di on the sonar unit once networked together.

    Jeremy, Great videos, keep it up. My questions are only on auto chart. I would like to see what your settings are and why you chose them. Is there a way to easily delete, clear all or modify zero line card information without a computer? Can you even put zero line card in computer and modify stuff without damaging card? How to correct erroneous / questionable information? How to correctly interpret what you see, such as bottom hardness , veg, different colors and what they mean? Small icon on screen hard to the right, soft to the left seems to be reversed in my thinking. I thought I got it but it can get confusing really fast when flipping around trying to find what works best. Lost my way with this. Ps: I mostly fish lower Wisconsin. Thanks

    Im fishing merky water in a lake with silty bottom 25 to 35 foot deep should I be running mega chirp on my side imagining? Helix 10 gen3

    • @riverhawk203

      Thumbs up means I should be running mega chirp I take it.

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I personally would be running at a lower frequency like 800 or 455 depending on how far you are wanting to see out side to side. If I am in 30 feet my range will be set at 90 feet on 800 khz. 125 foot on 455. It will def help you see shadows and fish better than mega will in those circumstances. If it were rock or sand I would be leaving it on mega with the gen 3 and gen 4 which are better than the gen 1 and 2 with deep water si readings

    • @riverhawk203
      @riverhawk203 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok thats basically what I been doing 75 to 90 feet out 800 khz

    • @riverhawk203
      @riverhawk203 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Im also running low frequency on my 2D sonar 455 do you agree?

    • @HumminbirdHelp
      @HumminbirdHelp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should be able to get away with 800 on the down imaging as well. If it were me I'd hit the check button on the key pad while your in di over the same depth situation and see what looks better the 455 or 800. 800 will pick up crappie and gill better than 455 but the 455 will get the brightest return
