Now more interviews from Howe are coming out on social media People worrying / debating the interviews. Can seem contradicting in parts as one sentence he says “I love where I am at in my career. There's no better place for me to be.” Followed by “boundaries need to be set” with the new structure, no point in me being here if it doesn’t work. Is he unhappy with new sporting director Mitchell taking control of transfers & bringing in Bunce? Sounds like work & reassurances need to be done. I still think he’ll remain nufc manager.
@@TheMagpieChannelTV yeah he's just setting out his stall Matty. He is in a position of strength at the minute and after staveley leaving he's just making sure the owners know he won't take no shit. All in all it's still positive despite the media outlets taking what he said and spinning the narrative to they're agendas
I think he was definitely making a veiled threat that if his previously held power is impacted by the recent DOF & performance manager appointments he'll be on his bike. I don't think the club should bow to his threats, Mitchell is a recruitment expert and the club should follow his lead on transfers. Howe's injury record last year also suggests that Bunce should be given control in that area. If Howe goes the club will still prosper and Pochettino will probably be our new manager - not a bad upgrade in my opinion.
@@daniel4224 yeah I agree I'm worried Howe has had too much say on transfers in the past, maybe, maybe not but we will just have to see how this new phase goes I suppose.
@@grahamsidney9214 the structure of the club is vastly different than when he first joined, if he can't accept that then he should go. If this is in the back of his head then the sooner he goes the better (in order to give the new manager as much of preseason as possible).
I worry if Eddie goes because we get foreign manager and lose our working class roots and game.

Great news, but we as fans need to back howe aswell. There was quite a bit grumbling last season amongst some fans. We need to get fully behind him and believe in him.

EH has stated that he wants a much better deal from the bosses if he is to stay. Todibo is very good, but tbh I will believe it when he is photographed in the Toon top @ SJP. I have heard that Rabiot is a free agent now, and would be a big boost in midfield for us. Agree about DCL as 3rd choice backup if Wilson stays, but not as a replacement for him. We would have better strength in the squad for the cup rounds.

Yes me too, he's just reinforcing his position now. Making sure the owners know he won't be pushed about or he will leave. He would be daft if he didn't we would all do the same he might even get another new deal with a bit more money now aswell.

Eddie's commitment is not unwavering he has since said that his tenure all depends on whether he is happy with the control he has - this could be interpreted that he will dictate to PiF what his remit is. He is paid £6m pa and given how the owners have developed a ruthless streak (ask Amanda) he needs to be very careful how he handles this.

Just watched the interview on the club's website and his initial response on the England job begins with three successive conditions so it isn't clear cut that he is staying. Remember, he could have just said: I'm ruling myself out. He seems sensitive to his own position at the club and the scope of his role, his freedom to make decisions. He may be thinking, if I leave then the next day the club will install Pochettino; if I stay and results don't go as expected, they may make me leave and install Pochettino. Let's hope he stays.

Amanda was always Eddie’s biggest supporter and smoothed things with the Board. He has not had a good relationship with Eales - think back to last December/January. Eales and our DOF are obviously closer to one another (and Bunce) than they are to Eddie and the whole dynamic of the day to day running of the club has changed significantly. Eddie must be a bit uneasy compared to how things were. This four way relationship has to work, and if it doesn’t the buck will stop with Eddie. He is absolutely right to put this marker down, otherwise he could end up working with players he doesn’t want and having responsibility if they don’t deliver.

@@daniel4224 I don’t think structure is the issue. The structure itself hasn’t changed. The issue is more one of personal dynamics. If Eddie were to find himself as the outsider of four with player decisions taken without his input, then his position would be untenable.
@@johnenglish929 whether it's structure or roles that have alerted is just semantics. Howe and his nephew had their feet firmly under the table by the time Ashworth was appointed so basically had totally control over transfers in and out. This will no longer be the case now Mitchell is onboard (and rightly so in my opinion). Howe is just trying to flex his power and if he does end up taking the England job fans will cut him some slack as Howe has already provided a preemptive excuse that his power was eroded by the new incomings. If it was merely about personal relationships then they could take months to build so Howe would have no excuse if he left for the nation team job before the end of 2024

I agree with much of what you say, but it’s not about semantics, far from it. My guess is that it will end up in one of two ways. What I hope is that Mitchell and Howe click; see eye to eye; that we make at least 2 quality signings and that by close of play on August 17th we’re top of the league on goal difference en route to the top four at the end of the season. It could happen.
I can also see a situation where Eales (who is clearly strong commercially but lacks fingertips) leaves Howe out of the loop, and that causes unrest which results in poor performance by the squad, as happened last January. It reminds me of when David Dein - a great supporter of Wenger- left Arsenal.
I fear that Eales really sees Howe as the guy whose job is to increase the value of his assets - or as we call them : players ! - but that Eddie sees his role as more than that. Time will tell.
@@johnenglish929 I think transfer targets could be a major point of contention too. We all know Howe has a fetish for young English players, I think Mitchell will want to take a broader perspective and delve into the European market (mainly France I suspect due to his knowledge of that market and the financial troubles of many clubs in the country are currently experiencing). Howe will not be happy with a French guy turning up with a fancy foreign name that he can't pronounce.
