Forelimb lameness is easy to identify than hindlimb lameness. The animal nods its head when the lame limb hits the ground. This is to tranfer the weight on the sound limb.
Manual of EQUINE LAMENESS by GARY M. BAXTER is very helpful for lameness examination. This book gives very basic and practical tips for lameness examination.
