Even an avocado that has been peeled and de-seeded won't cause any real harm.

I was sure he was going to die from dill pickle colic after a Christmas party, but his digestive system was unflappable, and he enjoyed everything he ate. We were very lucky.

I was given a pony when I was 18 and he was fed a all bread diet..literally loaves of bread and kept in a dark shed. Edit:He was given to me..I switched him to hay once he was in my care.

Just ask your vet or even look it up if oatmeal is good for horses, obviously just leave out the milk though. 😅
I'm really glad I saw this. We always fed ours dry bread, not in large amounts but just as a treat every now and then. I'll make sure to never do it again.
My 500 kg horse eats 1 kg carrots while being groomed and prepared for exercise. He has enjoyed this priviledge for two years. His health is excellent. People at our Stable feel outraged about it. What they forget is that carrots contain 80-90 % water, so it is no burden on the horse digestion system to eat 1 kg carrots. In an extremely hot clima like ours my horse gets nicely hydrated before the exercise, when he will become soaked with sweat. After the end of the exercise session he immediately gets to drink water. In places where horses can not feed on fresh green grass carrots also add vitamine A.
Mine likes cheez-its and chic-fil-a waffle fries. My mom used to give her horse hot cocoa in the winter (her horse lived well into his 20’s, I think he died at 29). The power of moderation 😅 my horse only gets an abnormal treat once every few months. She does also love grapes, sweet potato, orange, carrot, apple, cucumber, zucchini, and a few other things. HATES banana tho. And eggs. Definitely interesting to see their preference Edit- just in advance, I’d like to say I don’t give my horse chocolate or anything that is genuinely toxic to her. My moms horse was an Arab who did not understand how to get sick, and my horse is an ottb. She’s never coliced, but with the nature of the breed I’m careful. I promise I’m not tryin to kill her with the snacks, and she’s very well cared for

Back in the 1970s my horses were fed white potato peel with their food mix. Had no idea it was supposed to be toxic, they lived to good age!
