We should follow a similar diet. No processed bread, No avocado, No potatoes (Sweet potatoes are NOT good for horses either.) Squash (Pumpkin, butternut, spaghetti, et cetera) is much better. Horses are grazers. Therefore anything that doesn't grow ABOVE GROUND, is sketchy at best. Tree fruit and nuts are OK, just limit quantity, or peel and de-seed them. Even an avocado that has been peeled and de-seeded won't cause any real harm.
I had a race horse who loved actually adored cinnamon Rolls he got one only when he won and he knew that so he won quite a bit never had any problems with him he also loved Heineken beer butterscotch candy and tab soda he was a character race till he was 8 years old

My dog can eat anything except crabs and shrimps, it can eat chocolate, fruits, peanuts, ice cream, anything with garlic and onions, it is resistant to most food allergies except for crabs and shrimps

I would swing by the grocery store, and shoplift about 3-4 apples and head straight to the stables. The Rodeo Grounds in Salinas Ca. was my safe place. Good Times.
If you choose to feed bread, only do it in super small amounts. I know a horse that ADORES PB&Js and donuts. And my horse has been known to steal a roll without permission. And dunk his nose in my cereal. Milk and all. Not my intention and I had no idea he would do that. Thankfully he was fine.
One way you can feed bread to a horse is by letting it dry out completely first, untill its all crispy, and then feed it in small amounts. Fresh bread will create large lumps when chewing, and those cause the issues.

Just ask your vet or even look it up if oatmeal is good for horses, obviously just leave out the milk though. 😅

Back in the 1970s my horses were fed white potato peel with their food mix. Had no idea it was supposed to be toxic, they lived to good age!

If you choose to Feed bread, get a emergency vet number and prepare to know that in Case of death its Not an accident, but Planned murder
