Been lucky enough to have seen both of these bands live back in the 80s. First saw U2 in 1981 in London as a relatively unknown band with only 500 people in the audience! Saw Sisters Of Mercy's last gig at the Royal Albert Hall in 1985 (2 members went on to form The Mission) and then in 1987 saw The Mission.
Shawn and Trey, I'm a fan of U2 and I am excited to hearing this song. I still remember in 1985 my brother and I and a next door nighbor went to the Meadowlands N.J. to get tickets to see the Hagler Hearns boxing match and found oueselves standing in line for tickets to the U2 concert. Lol We were in line for quite a while before we figured it out. Lol . Now that I reflect on that, we should have stayed in that line and watched the U2 concert. The first song moves with a steady rhythm and a cool vibe and mood to the music. I think it is a good melody. Nice music soundscape and instrumentally strong. I agree on the atmosphere. The second song is a moderate tempo tune with good harmonies and musically solid. The lyrics have meaning. You both chose the second song as the winner. A good choice, but I will choose the U2 song, as the winner. it has more atmosphere and is intriguing in the style of music. Very good song battle Pete.
@@ReactionsToTheClassics Lol You are right Shawn the way we missed out on watching U2 in concert. Every time I see a U2 video I'm reminded of that mrmory. Yes, I did share that story before, but thought I'd mention it again.
if you like it, 'Butterfly On A Wheel' the remix is impressive, a true delight.....what memories of youth, how this sounded in Valencian nightclubs....."Butterfly On A Wheel (The Magnificent Octopus Mix)"
Saw them live yesterday and mission start the song with a drum machine , and in the build up starts the drummer over the drum track , great effect they sounded pristine like the 80s waynes voice is like in those years and the band sounds really well
I've loved The Mission since they began!!! Bono sounds like he's impersonating Wayne!! Great track! I'll be adding that to my playlist. But it's The Mission all the way for me as you'd expect from a diehard fan 🌹
Lembro de ouvir essa canção do The Mission, em cds tipo coleções anos 80 ! Essa canção B side do U2 so fui conhecer pelo anos 2000, e pensar que essa canção ficou de fora do The Unforgettable Fire é chocante!
Both bands have created an amazing back catalogue - but there’s only one winner here. The Mission are touring. The live experience should be a bucket goal for anyone. Keep the faith!
The Mission are hugely underrated, you need to react to more from them. You're the first I've seen to react to them, kudos to you.
That song is fantastic! Appreciate it SS!

I prefer the U2 track . I know you guys said it was a b -side, but I think it also was on a 3-4 song ep that they released.
