I was given Wellbutrin in rehab (along with anti depressant, anti anxiety, and mood stabilizer) to help with my cravings to meth. I’m now 21 months sober and so grateful for this medication!
Yikes man. And what happens when you get off of all that stuff? What is that stuff doing to your brain? I'd rather still be an alcoholic than on a cocktail of psych meds. At least alcohol I know I can taper myself off and be fine as long as I get to 60 days. Those psych meds might f you up for a long time
I've been taking Wellbutrin 300 XL for 30+ years. It completely changed my life for the better. I was diagnosed with GAD and dysthemia. I believe I developed these when I hit puberty at 13 and the hormones kicked in. When Zyban was FDA approved, my doctor put me on the med. Within a week, I stopped smoking, my attention span went from 0 to 100%, and my ability to focus on my job made me extremely productive. I wish they had this med when I was in high school because my grades went from straight A's in Jr. High to barely passsing high school. I really believe I also had ADHD, but that concept wasn't known in the 1970s. I'm 65 and will take it for the rest of my life.
I have anxiety depression, a diagnosis of ADHD and i was a drug abuser and smoker and it helps me with all of that. I quit alcohol, drugs and vape in 2 or 3 month after the first bupropion pill. I'm so happy with it and i live normally now, go outside every day. Can study again because of focus and will search for a job soon. Lifesaver for me.
Wellbutrin helped my anxiety and depression way more than any ssri I’ve taken. Didn’t cause sexual dis function like ssris did and helped me loose weight.
I take Wellbutrin for 2 and a half years and it it great for my anxiety, very mild depression and some ADHD symptoms (not diagnosed with adhd). For the last 6 months im taking it with 10mg Paxil just because i wanted to quit clonazepam which i was taking for 2 years (0.5/day). I found it to be very good for helping me to start do things without overthinking it, even if it is going to places and doing things that would cause me anxiety before. So, YES. MUCH less overthinking (anxiety symptom), social anxiety and it somehow helps me to be more autosugestible. For example, if i find myself overthinking, I just have more "power" to dismiss it by telling to myself that it doesnt matter and continue with LIFE!
@@sevginvatansever2920 I have always had pretty high libido (i'm 30 now). Didn't notice any difference when introducing wellbutrin and even paxil. Only thing related to sexual part that i noticed is slightly longer and stronger orgasms if I have sex during first 5-6 hours after taking my daily wellbutrin 150 xr dose at around 10AM.
Thank you for your vulnerability about your anxiety. I have been prescribed buspirone for severe anxiety. I took it and it made my anxiety symptoms worse. I had to immediately stop I’m also on clonazepam for severe anxiety. I have been down the whole antidepressant, antianxiety antidepressive medication road you name it I’ve been on it. In my experience . I have found that if you have to add another antidepressant medication to the one you’re on. It’s telling me that the original prescribed antidepressant is not working. Plus over many years, you can start to develop ticks and un voluntary movement and body motions. I’m going to stick with my clonazepam taken once daily It works well for my anxiety. I also know that it is highly addictive, which is why I don’t over use, or smash up and snort it! 😊 I wish you well, and I am happy that the BuSpar buspirone is working for you. BTW, BuSpar was discontinued 10 years ago. Which is why it’s called abuse from now… 🤔 sending you lots of love, prayers and positive thoughts! And so it is🙏🏽💜
@@MissDoreen I was never taking Buspar (buspirone) as it is not available in the EU. Maybe you confused it with buPROPion (Wellbutrin)...which im taking now. Since november im taking 300mg XR but without Paxil. I quit Paxil cold turkey(with my doctors permission )when i was upping wellbutrin from 150 to 300 with zero "withdrawal" symptoms. Other than Wellbutrin, the only medication i take is diazepam 5mg as needed (usualy not more than 2-3 times per month when i have presentations in front of the class on uni.
I take buspirone for anxiety and Wellbutrin for depression. I’m sure the combination doesn’t help everyone but for me it works and I’m thankful for the regularity that these medications bring.
It's always good to hear real life examples of people having success with treatment. I appreciate you sharing, if you haven't subscribed to the channel please do and spread the word
Bupropion can cause stressful situations to be more intense unless you remind yourself when you start feeling more stressed than the situation dictates that it’s largely the bupropion. At least for me that’s the way it’s worked and obviously I can only speak for myself.
I feel like I’m dealing with that now. It’s like an endless cycle. Wellbutrin really worked for me in the beginning but I’ve begun to notice a change in myself. Short fuse, easily annoyed, and my thoughts seem to always be racing. Has not been enjoyable, to say the least. 🫨
Thank you for sharing this. I’ve learned that Bupropion does tend to make me feel more stimulated, which in turn can make me anxious. However, I found that if I keep a regular mild cardio routine (walk, run, or dance 3x/wk), everything feels nicely balanced. If that makes any sense.
I can't cite the study, unfortunately, as it's in the dim past, but I have read one where regular exercise was found as effective as antidepressants in lifting mood. I used to run and lift weights, so I am aware of the effects of endorphins on mood and can well believe it. Exercise is one of the positive routines that helps lead to an upward spiral.
this is very common and i dont know why theyre trying to make it for anxiety now it is not good it is a stimulant even tho they say it is not it is< theres a reason its abused and called poor mans cocaine on the street
I've gotten Bupropion as my first antidepressant for depression. I'm not diagnosed with anxiety disorder, but it gave me so much anxiety. I even got psychotic. My doctor called it nihilistic delusion, where I felt like nothing makes sense anymore, not even existence itself. It was like my whole believe system about the world and my existence changed within a few days to this psychotic depressed and anxious state in which everything felt completely pointless. I obviously stopped taking it (after about four weeks) and it took me months to "forget" how I was feeling during these few weeks. I also did get sexual side effects. I didn't feel my orgasm anymore. Never had that with any ssri/ssri medication.
I have depression and anxiety. I take buspirone for anxiety and bupropion for depression and it’s the perfect combination to make me feel comfortable and at peace.
Starting this in 2 days for GAD. It’s funny, cuz I’m anxious about taking medication for my anxiety. But from what I’ve gathered in the video and the comments, I guess you won’t really know if it’s for you or not until you try it. Thanks for the evidence based approach in all your videos. We’ll see if this is for me or not.
This is where I am. I am having anxiety about taking it (or any other medication, specifically antidepressants. Never tried them before and worried about how I will feel on them).
I hope you didn't take medication for your anxiety. It devastates your life. It may work for a little while, it is best to learn to deal with it naturally. Have you tried natures route. Get out in some. It works amazingly.
But the literature says otherwise! Jk. I’m not a fan of when docs get boxed in by “what the literature says” and dismiss what a host of patients report to the contrary.
Hey Dr Rossi, love your channel thanks for the great informative content. I was wondering if you would consider making a video about combining Stimulants with Antidepressants / approaches to treating ADHD with anxiety/depression comorbidity. Thanks! 🙏
My anxiety did get worse during my wellbutrin therapy but i stayed on it because it almost 100% cured my depression. I'd definitely rate my experience as pretty high even though i eventually had to switch off of it due to the anxiety increase. But thats just my experience!
This is from tweny years personal experience. I dropped, taking all antideps ans i proved wasnt on about wuicide all the time and crying, but been really bad without too
@@GoFartherPodcast Interesting, maybe I'll bring that up with my doctor because I loved the Wellbutrin just could not tolerate the side effects!! Thank you for the tip 🥰
@@blondebomber-qo2uy you’re welcome; it might be worthwhile, or it may not be worth it (Zoloft has side effects for some people ), but maybe it could help Best of luck!
I have a pet theory that one source of anxiety is the nicotine receptor antagonism in people who use tobacco. I was prescribed buproprion XL for ADHD and i notice that after every dosage change, my ADHD symptoms worstened, well beyond baseline without buproprion. Like, getting really mad and being super hyperactive. I eventually figured out that it was because it was completely shutting me off from nicotine when i changed dosages, so I was going through withdrawal without even knowing it. I will tell you, knowing that you are going through withdrawal is much more manageable than not, because you can correctly attribute symptoms, and if you are unaware (or the symptoms are disconnected from the cessation of tobacco use), your brain leads you in some strange directions looking for relief. Self soothing body movements, insomnia, emotional outbursts, muscle tension, racing thoughts, paranoia, and general restlessness. I felt like i was losing my mind. I had similar results trying to quit smoking with chantix several years ago and had to stop taking it, and eventually somehow I connected the dots.
I’ve been on Bupropion (300mg) for three weeks now to treat both depression and GAD. Let me tell you that the first two weeks were about as close to hell as I think I’ve ever been. Insomnia and constant anxiety (buzzing in my sternum, shaky hands, etc). However, about four days ago all of the anxiety completely melted away and I’m only waking up once in the middle of the night as opposed to six or seven times in weeks 1 and 2. The depression is a little more pronounced now but even that is weakening. I expect (if I keep on this trajectory) that next week will bring a lot more stabilization overall. This medication is exactly what I needed and I almost gave up if not for some really good Reddit reviews telling me to STICK WITH IT for a while longer. I’m glad I did. I feel much, much less anxiety than I ever have before. Thanks for an encouraging video, doc!
@@sevginvatansever2920it did for me. Strattera totally killed it, Bupropion brought it back. Also waking up rock hard each day like a teenager. 150Xl for 2 months, now on 300xl. i hope it works out for me because this alone has helped my life and possibly saved my marriage!
@@sevginvatansever2920 yeah a headache day 1, nausea day 1,2,3 and at 300xl I started getting very irratable and short-fused with caffeine. when i stopped the caffeine i felt fine again. ah yes and with the 300 I've felt suuuuper tired and almost like being high the first 3 weeks, now it is getting stable barely at close to 1 month. overall it has helped tremendously with major depression disorder, a little with adhd symptoms, and helped general anxiety disorder quite a bit
I think the context of anxiety is important, I’m anxious because I’m not sure if I am going to be able to handle things being so tired, so Wellbutrin makes me calmer.
I do find Wellbutrin to be somewhat effective, but only for the first few weeks. Then it tapers off, and I feel like I'm back to Baseline with my adhd. My dosage has been increased, but the effectiveness is still short-lived. Despite being prescribed Ritalin in another county, I moved here only to have it taken away, and replaced with the wellbutrin. My current psychiatrist seems to have moral objections to prescribing stimulants. It's doing me a disfavor, because I cannot get the medication that's most effective for me. I understand she's the doctor, but I'm the human being with the adhd. I'm looking for a second opinion currently.
Bupropion worsened my anxiety AT FIRST. Once I adjusted to it, my anxiety was completely soothed. The first several weeks were difficult but I’m glad I stuck it out!
@@SigStates it got better for me, yes. There was a significant period that had me thinking I should stop because I was experiencing this near constant feeling as if something terrible was just on the verge happening. It sucked. But I'm glad I stuck it out, it has been a really helpful medication for me. I feel for you, I know it's hard! Maybe hang in there a little longer if it's bearable and do consistent grounding and breathing exercises (I know they usually feel ineffective in the moment but can help over time) while reminding yourself that it's just the drug, it's not real and it's temporary. I hope you find that this side effect goes away soon and that it is as helpful for you as it has been for me.❤️
@@whatdoyoulivefor735you could not have described it better - I feel I’m in that significant period of anxiety right now… questioning everything, specifically my relationship! I’m currently on 150mg bupropion… wondering if 300 mg would make me feel better or even worse… I’ve never had so many intrusive thoughts
Good stuff. The only thing I didn't like was that you said "Nobody wants to gain weight." If you're a hard-gaining string bean like I was for most of my life and you're trying to bulk up you want every edge you can to put on weight.
I took Wellbutrin for about 6 months. In the 5th month I experienced very heightened anxiety, as well as increased heart rate and arrhythmias. I am in the process of weaning myself off this with my doctors approval. It did help with the depression so I am slightly disappointed to quit taking it, but the anxiety episodes were frightening and it was getting to where I just had a low-grade anxiety all day long. The anxiety was too debilitating to continue. I appreciate your information, but, for me, I couldn’t continue.
I had bupropion for weight loss and it sucked; my blood pressure went to 14x9, anxiety went to the roof. I used this drug for a year, then tapped it and after tapping it out, I noticed how much this drug had worsened my anxiety; my blood pressure went down to 11x7.
My son was taking Bupropion XL for 8 days and killed himself. Of course he was 22 and the attending primary care provider who prescribed it apparently had no clue about the FDA warnings not to prescribe it to anyone under 25 since 2005.
This is tragic and a difficult situation anyone who practices psychiatry long enough would face. What I can say about the FDA warning is that it's something to educate the patient about but not a complete contraindication to prescribing medications. Many child and adolescent psychiatrists prescribe antidepressants on a daily basis to children under the age of 25. Depression is a possibly modifiable risk factor and the big issue is was the black box warning discussed. I appreciate the comment sorry for your loss
He was suffering from a traumatic brain injury, and was also told to stop drinking. In the documentation I’ve read about prescribing Bupropion, head injury patients and secession of alcohol are both significant contra-indicators. Add his age. Also received no psychological counseling before prescribing this med, on the first visit too. I am shocked that primary care providers are allowed to prescribe drugs like this, and there are virtually no protocols for mental health that would push for counseling first. He also answered no to all suicide screening questions on the day it was given to him. He showed signs of mild depression, and was dead 8 days later.
@@vadim.watchmeare you kidding me?? You are just a terrible person for this comment. No words. I feel sorry for anyone who’s in your life. Worst comment I’ve ever read.
I had mixed clinical depression with GAD for 2 yrs, and wellbutrin helped tremendously with both! also suffer with social anxiety, it hasn't affected it- not better not worse
This pill has helped me feel motivated, which kills the depression. Libido is the highest in years, has caused a lil bit more anxiety but the positive feeling you get will combat the anxiety. Pill isnt for eveyone.
Hello Doc, I want to provide my experience and also the research I've done so far to at least open you up to the idea that some people do experience heightened anxiety when taking this med, and more than just the initiation period. I first tried this med as a freshman in college when I had my first major depressive experience. It did benefit me at that time, but I came off it after about 9 months. Throughout my college experience, I developed a high level of anxiety and was diagnosed with both GAD and panic disorder. I then went back on Wellbutrin and developed intense anxiety, like someone was throwing gas on the fire, much worse than any time I have started an SSRI. So, I'm now in my late 20s and know that for me, other than that first time I used it to treat major depression before the start of my anxiety disorder, I have always experienced heightened anxiety from it. It is an NDRI with a structure similar to amphetamine. I understand those fact are only so helpful in answering the question of whether or not it increases anxiety. But, I have also had psychiatrists who are very experienced and also value the scientific literature tell me that there is reason to believe those with high baseline anxiety don't do as well with Wellbutrin. So, yes it offers many advantages, but I hope you at least consider the experience of people like me and know that studies don't always capture the many phenotypes of anxiety/depressive disorders.
Have you tried exercise? I was diagnosed with PTSD after I had an anxiety attack that I swore was a heart attack! I went to the ER because I honestly thought it was a heart attack. Then I started doing push-ups and other calisthenics, along with running and. Bike riding. It really helped me.
If you take Wellbutrin and also have anxiety do not go up to 300mg. I take 150mg of Wellbutrin and I have GAD. I also just started Buspar a week ago, and I take propranolol 60mg ER every day and take Klonopin 1 MG as needed. Works pretty good, but I do want to get off all the meds and just exercise and eat healthy, but I'm glad none of the meds have really any side effects.
Great video Doc, I have been on venlafaxin and had some weight gain and also reduced libido, and a lot of sleepiness, thats why I got aderall to counter atack that.. I quit all that a year and a half ago, now with a lot of anxiety im gonna start with Bupropion, will share my experience here after 2 month of usage
I’m supposed to start this medication Monday. To help quit smoking and also I have anxiety and apparently depression but I’m not sad. Anyways, my anxiety tells me not to take it but I need help quitting smoking so I’ll let you all know how it goes for me!! ❤
I don't know, I think Bupropion is a terrible choice for anxiety. It's because of it's mechanism of action. The noradrenaline reuptake causes a rise in blood pressure and heart rate which are strongly associated with anxiety and/ or panic attacks. Noradrenaline is known to stimulate the amygdala instead of reducing it's activity like benzodiazepines or even SSRI do. Anxiety disorders are often associated with (temporarily) higher pulse and blood pressure, so I think this medication is making anxiety worse in anxiety provoking situations. But that's just my opinion and experience
If someone is experiencing both anxiety and depression I usually start with Zoloft or lexapro … if the anxiety improves but the depression lingers I will add 75mg of Wellbutrin in the AM ( not the XL) … if they still have anxiety ( which tends to be more debilitating) I’ll switch the initial SSRI to an SNRI ( I like cymbalta better bc it’s not as dose dependent as Effexor) … if the patient is over 55 I will use Trintellix … if the depression is causing sleep and appetite issues I’ll add some low dose mirtazapine … if the anxiety remits but Wellbutrin doesn’t help the apathy and mild anhedonia I’ll add low dose Ritalin
@@dallas44forlife65 Is that long acting Ritalin? If you add Ritalin, do you stop the bupropion? I'm on 60 mg duloxetine and 150 mg bupropion XL. Still some apathy/anhedonia, but like 75% improved. Looking to get all the way there with a minimum of side effects. Thnx in advance.
From my experience taking Bupropion for ten plus years followed by not being able to take it these past 6 months due to supply issues at present B actually helps me in terms of sex drive. I have GAD in addition to Bipolar2 and have not had any increase in anxiety with B.
wellbutrin immediately (literally first day taking it) made my intrusive thoughts of selfharm evaporate and they have never returned. it also calmed my hypervigilance way way down!
Thanks for explaining Bupropion side effects. I just picked up my script and have some added fears after reading the side effects. Still trying to decide whether to take this medicine.
I'm on 20mg lexapro and dr added 150xl Wellbutrin. I'm someone who is scared of side effects of medicines. So I'm in my first week and I haven't feel any real "energy" just brain fog and dizzier. But today I'm drinking water more and trying to constantly eat to see if maybe that could be causing that. Any comment on Wellbutrin and lexapro together?
I really liked taking buproprion, but it seemed to worsen my PMDD symtoms and anxiety recently when they added Prozac with it for PMDD. I’m wondering if there is a better combo for that? The buproprion helped my adhd symptoms :(
I’m on it for PMDD and it’s been a life saver. Significantly decreased my anxiety the bad week before my cycle. I cannot take an SSRI. That turns me into a monster.
I’ve been off & on WellButrin XL since having my first (diagnosed) issue with depression at age 38 - it is wonderful..I feel like myself with a full range of emotions and I do not feel “medicated” if that makes sense. The very first med the Dr gave me was Lexipro and I felt like I needed to jump out of my skin! It also made my emotions flat, it was soooo weird. But this Wellbutrin has been great.
I have a question. I just started topiramate. The question I have is. I take lamotragine I find it helps a great deal but when I go higher dose I get really bad headaches /migraines . When taking topiramate .I also found in reference to topiramate low libido is a side effect 😢😮😢 Is this true ? Does it cause low libido in men ?😢 I'm really sad about this.
4:30 What percentage does the risk of seizure increase to if someone had 2 alcohol drinks one night? 5 alcohol drink? (I have heard the risk of seizure can increase with any alcohol consumption while on this.)
Great video as always. I am curious how effective it is for smoking cessation and as adjunctive therapy for someone who's already on psychostimulants for ADHD?
I have clean quite strong GAD, with very little or even no typical symptoms of depression, Buproprion makes me sleepy at the beginning when combined with SSRI :) while SSRI alone does not make me sleepy :D Those drugs are tricky, but there is one (uncertain) thing wich may happen when you take mild stimulants having anxiety. Of course in that case primary drug might be an SSRI, like Zoloft (but not in all cases). Sertraline always should be first choice as it it affects less hormones due to weak dopamine reuptake inhibitory. It is believed that too much serotonin over dopamine increases prolactine and some other hormones. When it comes to buproprion....Yes at the beginning it may increase your anxiety, but what about noradrenaline receptors downregulation after a time? that might be one of the positive pathway in reducing anxiety. It's kind of rebound effect as well. When you take benzodiazepines for a short period when addiction not happen, then rebound anxiety appears, as when you take downer then you stop it, you expect rebound effect. So maybe when you take mild safe stimulant the opposite thing take place :) I wonder if drinking coffee which would be unpleasent for anxious agitated people can downregulate receptors over time and when you stop drkinking it you would be calmer and sleepy :) Maybe it's all about receptors, when too little serotonine or dopamine (prolonged bad mood and stress affect that level and other negative compesatory reactions happen), the receptors become upregulated which is why you easily get anxious (especially when you take a pill which may be a bit stimulating) , when is proper amount of the neurotransmitters or even too much, if you take drugs which inhibits reuptake process, then receptors start to downregulate which makes you more stable or even a bit blunt if the effect is too strong. It is plasticity of brain. Of course this is very simplified it's much more tricky , complicated. Downregulation process sometimes is not good :) This is one of the reason you may feel the drug does not work as good as earlier over time and you must increase dosage. When you start drug and you do not feel too much adverse reactions (benzos should be added for first weeks when too much anxiety exists) you feel very good, even a bit euphoric. You wish to be like that for longer time, but compesatory reactions (downregulation and others) reduce that effect :) tricky thing....Additionally I believe that anxiety connected with hyper stuff, like hyperactivation, overreaction, too much negative energy which affect sleeping, may happen more often in people who were a bit hyper since they born... so I wonder if that mild hyper + anxiety is negative synergic effect and buproprion in that case may help as overtime it might reduce that small part of ADHD (many people may have very mild kind of ADHD that in normal circumstances are not treated with any stimulant)
I have been take wellbutrin for a month now and no side effects i use it for weight loss and depression and force But my psychiatrist is not happy that I've lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks.
I had a seizure from an antidepressant. Not sure which one I was on at the time years ago. Now my Psychiatrist will not give me Wellbutrin and I won’t take the other antidepressants because they all cause bad sexual side effects for me. So I’m stuck with being depressed. I hate it.
id love a more indepth video on naltrexone, think you have talked about it before but for example low dose naltrexone, off label usages (ive heard autism and all kinds of addiction, not just opioids), and discussing the research around and effectivity of Contrave as it currently starts, cheers
Can Wellbutrin be bad for the liver? My Comprehensive Metabolic Panel Blood work came back high on both AST 51 and ALT 82. I have been on Wellbutrin for about 30 days.
I've gained 10lbs. so far in a couple of months. What's with the limited chance of weight gain?? I don't overeat. It's not helping with ADHD either. In fact I haven't noticed anything getting better. Gaining weight has definitely been bumming me out.😢 I don't know if I should continue this for a little while longer or throw it in the trash.😢
I’ve been on concerta for 2-3 years (after trying vivanse). Now on Wellbutrin as of last week. Definitely an adjustment period so far. I was on Zoloft but it didn’t do much. Now I keep reading that Wellbutrin is great for ADHD for the dopamine aspect as well as my depression. Should I not be taking both concerta and Wellbutrin? (36 mg concerta and just started with 150 Wellbutrin) next month the plan Was to up it to 300 Wellbutrin.
Long story short, Zoloft was great, but I couldn’t take it in helpful doses for various reasons. Bupropion takes care of all except my irritation and rage. Just 25m of Zoloft added to my bupropion took care of the problem.
I just got off Wellbutrin because it made my anxiety worse. I was having anxiety attacks and racing thoughts. Felt better like a week after stopping it.

Hi Dr., I am just a first time listener. Thank you for all of your information. But I’d like to know why would one have to add an anti-anxiety medication to the current anti-medication? I feel that if you have to add another antidepressant medication to the one you’re already on. It tells me that it’s not helping with depression. I have been on many SSRIs anti-depressant medication‘s. You name it I’ve been on it. I was prescribed buspirone. Because the FDA discontinued Buse bar and made the generic form. I think I’m just going to stick with yoga and meditation and positive thinking and healthy eating. Thank you for your wisdom and expertise. Have a blessed holiday season..🙏🏽💜
Recently decided to try it again after first taking it years ago. Took Luvox which made me tired but seems to help with sleep, Zoloft which I am currently on has way too many side effects. I rmb wellbutrin at least dint give me insane side effects and I rmb I was feeling pretty decent when I was on it. Stopped cuz I still had stigma towards medication then
Well, Buterin, buspirone or BuSpar. I was prescribed buspirone for severe anxiety. Buse bar was taken off the market about 10 or 12 years ago. And now they have the generic form buspirone. I have been on many anti-depressants throughout my lifetime. And in my experience, if you have to add another anti-depressant to the original antidepressant. This just makes me to believe that it’s not helping anxiety or depression. When they discontinue a certain medication and they make a generic one, hast to wonder if it’s very effective.🤔 I appreciate all of your information. But you have to be very careful with taking antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication’s. They can cause unwanted facial body movements that are uncontrollable. I’d rather just do yoga and meditation 🙏🏽☺️

It did worsen anxiety for me but I also take Zoloft so it was minimal. Bupropion is anxiety prone for people that are sensitive to stimulants (like me) because it acts on dopamine (why they say it’s activating)
You can try and rationalize all you want with medical examples but it’s the truth. You compared citalopram with bupropion. Citalopram is the most sedating of all of them, even more than Lexapro because of the histamine affects. Have you taken any of these medications? I feel like you wouldn’t have the opinion bupropion is first line unless with an SSRI if you had. Literature is crap unless backed by anecdotal proof
I take 300mg Ext Rl once a day, I've taken it for the past few months...I feel like my social anxiety has gotten better but overall I dunno. Gives me killer dry mouth though
It was great, except it stopped my gut. I used it for about a year, but would sometimes wake up with symptoms of intestinal blockage, like dry heaves. Anecdotally, it seemed to have a positive effect on sexual function even for those without PE. Is it okay to use miralax everyday, in order to tolerate otherwise beneficial meds?
I have been on wellbutrin for a month and have a buzzing in my head that I don't think will go away even if I stop taking it. the medicine. is there any hope
I have a mild depression with dysthymia, along with generalised anxiety with panic attacks. Doctor didn’t prescribe SSRIs because they made me worse in the past and also sexual disfunction. He said this could make me worse , he gave me Ativan for anxiety. I’m afraid to start the Wellbutrin my anxiety is already bad . Advices ?
I have heard vortioxetine must be reduced when combined woth buprion...i started buprion without doctors recommendation because i was suffering from low libido...after starting it my libido is improving
Im on day 5 and definitely way more anxiety. Sweaty palms, general uneasiness. If i was not also not taking mirtazipam at night i dont think i would sleep at all...
What do you think of Bupropion as an add on to 10 mg Lexapro? how much added on is too much? I have take Lexapro for severe anxiety and panic attacks. it has helped a lot. but I developed MDD after menopause. (I check my VIT D and thyroid on the regular. I do have to take VIt D suppliments frequently to keep it up). I only take 75mg bupropion now. in the morning and the lexapro in the afternoon. My docs want me to take more bupropion because it doesn't help the depression enough. I was afraid to because of the myths you mentioned. and thought the side effects may be worse mixed the lexapro. I don't want to get more anxious or not be able to sleep or feel jittery. I have been diagnosed with ADHD inatentive type, cyclothymia , anxiety and panic attacks.
I was given Wellbutrin in rehab (along with anti depressant, anti anxiety, and mood stabilizer) to help with my cravings to meth. I’m now 21 months sober and so grateful for this medication!
What was the anti anxiety lexapro?

I like your testimony of zyban. I am taking effexor.
Good read thanks for your information and experience.
I'm so happy to read your experience! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Me too!
Congratulations btw, that's really awesome. Getting sober is so hard but so worth it. ❤
What’s your dose? 🙏
Are you still doing good with this?
Wellbutrin helped my anxiety and depression way more than any ssri I’ve taken. Didn’t cause sexual dis function like ssris did and helped me loose weight.
Did you experience hair loss? I’ve heard many say that this is a side effect
Did you have erectile dysfunction after SSRI,s? Did Wellbutrin help to heal ED?
Did it boost your libido?
The brain can heal with good food.. also, getting a full thyroid panel done and making sure hormones are doing well.
Wellbutrin gave me facial ticks, a short temper, restlessness, and horrible anxiety. I really think it can make anxiety worse in certain people.
It can , but I think the point of this video is that the risk is the same as SSRIs

this is very common and i dont know why theyre trying to make it for anxiety now it is not good it is a stimulant even tho they say it is not it is< theres a reason its abused and called poor mans cocaine on the street
My doctor told me in some people it makes anxiety worse. It seems like wellbutrin is only preferred by patients with adhd/add. That’s me btw.
I take this combo too! Never felt better ❤

Did the exacerbation of adhd symptoms go away after a while at the new dose?

How’d it go
I think the context of anxiety is important, I’m anxious because I’m not sure if I am going to be able to handle things being so tired, so Wellbutrin makes me calmer.
I’ve tried Lexopro and Wellbutrin and can confidently say my anxiety was was worse on Wellbutrin and almost nonexistent on Lexopro

Wellbutrin made me gain 15 pounds
I took Wellbutrin for about 6 months. In the 5th month I experienced very heightened anxiety, as well as increased heart rate and arrhythmias. I am in the process of weaning myself off this with my doctors approval. It did help with the depression so I am slightly disappointed to quit taking it, but the anxiety episodes were frightening and it was getting to where I just had a low-grade anxiety all day long. The anxiety was too debilitating to continue. I appreciate your information, but, for me, I couldn’t continue.

Can you do a video about MAOIs? I think they are very underrated and useful in some situations.
Yes, that would be good.
Wellbutrin was BAD for me.
Have you tried exercise? I was diagnosed with PTSD after I had an anxiety attack that I swore was a heart attack! I went to the ER because I honestly thought it was a heart attack. Then I started doing push-ups and other calisthenics, along with running and. Bike riding. It really helped me.
Until what weeks did you find that your anxiety was worsen because of bupropion?
I’m not a doctor but my son had the same experience went off asap
If you take Wellbutrin and also have anxiety do not go up to 300mg. I take 150mg of Wellbutrin and I have GAD. I also just started Buspar a week ago, and I take propranolol 60mg ER every day and take Klonopin 1 MG as needed. Works pretty good, but I do want to get off all the meds and just exercise and eat healthy, but I'm glad none of the meds have really any side effects.

In every video, there is mention of avoiding it for people with eating disorders, but no one says WHY. Can you explain?
It is because weight loss and loss of appetite are common side effekts

I’ve only been on less than 2 weeks., I feel chipper and giggles more
Dr. nice video dispelling activation of anxiety taking Wellbutrin. What would your starting dose be for someone with G.A.D senior adult?
I have been take wellbutrin for a month now and no side effects i use it for weight loss and depression and force But my psychiatrist is not happy that I've lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks.
Wellbutrin helped my anxiety more than any other medication. I also have ADHD, so I’m not sure if that’s related.
Interesting that Wellbutrin is often used with an SSRI ...
This guy is phenomenal...
Bad for your kidneys if it raises your blood pressure
I take Bupropion and the only thing that sets off my anxiety is that fact that you continuously keep looking to your right while talking!
I just got off Wellbutrin because it made my anxiety worse. I was having anxiety attacks and racing thoughts. Felt better like a week after stopping it.
Does anyone know if buproprion causes or exacerbates bruxism (teeth grinding/clenching) ??
Wear a mouth guard when sleeping ❤️
You may have a malocclusion from a high filling or crown. See a dentist. Avoid stimulants such as sugar, alcohol, nicotine, chocolate, tea, coffee, cocaine, etc.
I love this med! I had so much fatigue With depression it nearly crippled me. I have my energy back!
One thing ur right about is paxil helped with premature ej and made me feel like i was in god mode in the bedroom with my ex gf LMAO but then i put on 70lbs in less than a year with stretchmarks all over my body..but im here because im looking into seeing if bup is responsible for my anxiety..it really has been off the charts and im about to quit my current job because of it. Im also on buspirone but cant take it because it interacts with the recreational drugs i use
Do you think this help raise norepinephrine and serotonin? Mines are low on a saliva test and I have anxiety and low mood and nervousness all day and I also have GAD. I was prescribed this but haven’t taken it yet! Scared! I take l tyrosine and 5 htp and l theanine to help with this but I still have anxiety all day and insomnia as well. Any suggestions 🙏🏾
Stopped cuz I still had stigma towards medication then
Wellbutrin gave me absolutely terrible anxiety, restless, can’t sit still, makes me make weird faces and noises. No thanks. Getting tf off it.
Did the symptoms go away?
Same here!
Same! I also gained weight super fast!
Same! I tried it years ago with my SSRI for past anxiety and depression and it made me feel awful and like a nervous wreck!
Im 50 now and have had ocd, adhd, anxiety, depression and autism. I dont know if its good or bad but I've internally shouted at the internal voice I had so much that I no longer have a internal voice or dialogue. :shrug BTw, I am on 450mg of Bupropn HCL, 30mg Buspirone and 25mg Hydroxyz hcl. I think they helped...
I have found myself very sensitive to Buproprion XL. Even cutting a 150 in half impacts my sleep. Same with 2.5mg of Methylphenidate. Both very effective for bumping mood and concentration. But the insomnia sensitivity is problematic for me.
You shouldn’t be cutting the XL pills
don t cut them, you risk seizure
@@torgersen44 You can cut them. It's safe. I used to cut the 150mg to quarters and take 37.5mg and was fine.
@@drewu9157 no you shouldn’t. Are you a pharmacist ? It specifically says on the package not to cut them…
I take Buterin I’m restless and cannot sit still and I have racing thoughts and my anxiety is worse, but I overthink on it
Very interesting, thank you! Is Bupropion also a good first-line choice for depression and pain comorbidity?
I have depression, anxiety disorder and nasty lower back pain, I'm on bupropion 150mg/d and pregabalin 225mg/d and this combo works great both for my mental health and chronic pain. But I think it depends which kind of pain you have.
I took Wellbutrin for two weeks... I was locked and it felt great... it did keep me up at night though ... unfortunately, I suffered a panic attack and stopped taking it cold turkey... eight weeks later my head is still not right! Suffering from Severe anxiety... maybe I should have stuck with it!!
There's no way I could take Buspirone during the day. It makes me too lethargic. I take 45 mgs at night to help me sleep.
I have severe depression and anxiety. I was prescribed Wellbutrin. I took one 10mg dose and I clenched my teeth for ten hours straight. This was in 2012, and today I still clench my jaw and as a result, one of front teeth is now crooked. I have also developed facial tics. I deeply regret taking it and I will never take a man made drug again. It still pisses me off to talk about.
Ive never even heard of a 10mg in this drug. And most people experience clenched jaw while adjusting to any psychotropic drugs I had it too during the first few days, it doesnt last
Please help!! Im in Scotland and my psychiatrist prescribed my bupropion fir the past 8years or so..as id tried everything fir my major depressive disorder and nothing came close to being of use.bupropion was a life changer until in January this year we heard it had been discontinued .all i can find on this os that December 2022 GSK said they stopped manufacturing due ti the presence of Nitosamine impurities that were foumd and potential for causing cancer.so im unable to get it anywhere in Britain.this medication allows me to get out of bed and function each day with nearly no side effects other than occasional slight nausea. Please help with any info you have on when or if it will become available again?? As nothing else i can try that works in a similar way to bupropion.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP !! 🙏Kind regards James
What is the best med for cognitive issues brain fog and low energy ? I am going to try out wellbutrin
I was prescribed Bupropion 450mg.after 300 had no effect.
is this an ok dosage?
Wellbutrin works great for me 300mg a day but after 6 or7hours it loses it's affect I am scared to increase the dosaage what should I do
I take 150mg 2x/day. Maintains the levels more effectively.
It seems to be not working for me . I am in week 6 of 300XL .how much should I wait before really determining its just not for me
If that's not working u probably might be suffering from low serotonin rather than low dopamine as butrin is used to increase dopamine
Advices ?
Buspar gave me terrible anxiety. My doctor switched me from kalnopin to buspar, yet klonopin was the only thing that gave relief
What is maximum proper dose fo sertraline when combined with buproprion? as they share at least one of the isozyme of CYP450 (not strong inhibition)
I have heard vortioxetine must be reduced when combined woth buprion...i started buprion without doctors recommendation because i was suffering from low libido...after starting it my libido is improving
Dose you libido come down due to ssri?
@ajomshah1668 yes ssri reduces my libido but adding buprion with vortioxetine has made so much difference
@@worldoffunnblabla5367 how many days take time to improve?
What if you had an unknown seizure disorder as a child that resolved as you grew up?
