    I had a lot of black beard algae problems a month ago. The beards had gotten about 3 inches long and looked super ugly. I planted some Hygrophila Wisteria Difformis last month based on this video. And the result has been fantastic. The Wisteria grew and continues to do so at a very rapid rate. They grow at about a half an inch in height every day. The best part is that these plants have roots shooting out of the stem which may look a bit ugly but they do suck up nutrients straight from the water column leaving the algae starving. It was a great feeling to see the black beard algae colonies literally wither away and float up to the surface.

    A few months ago I got some bogwood with java fern attached to it and alot of it has completely died off. There is a few smaller leaves still there but the ones that have completely gone never seem to regrow. I've tried liquid co2 and liquid fertiliser but nothing seems to work. Don't know if you or anyone has any ideas that I haven't tried? Thanks.

    I agree about Wisteria! I grow it in a low tech tank! Parameters: (40g - Nicrew ClassicPlus - AquaClear 70 - Weekly Seachem Flourish/Prime/H2O changes - NH4(0.15ppm) - NO2 (0ppm) - NO3 (40-50ppm) - PH(7.4) - kH (3ppm) - gH (13ppm). Have Cabomba, Hygrophelia Carymbosa, Anubias Nana Petite, Java Fern.

    i got hornwort in my pond that never do a waterchange almost 2 year now with only natural light , they ware crazy and the guppy seem fine and breed like mad.
    then i tried put hornwart in my aquarium inside the house with co2 and high light but they all died in 1 night. it got me a hard job to collect all the leaf scattering all over my tank meanwhile other plant seem ok..
    so my question is what is the cause of that to happen??
    do i need to acclimate the plant first before put in the aquarium??
    never heard of plant acclimate before lol

    • @colteng9721
      @colteng9721 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've kept it for years in three different aquariums and it seems to react different in each of them. The odd thing is that even when the same conditions are controlled across all three such as light and co2 it only grows in two of them, the one it grows best in though was always around 78°, heavy co2 with moderate light. In my 55 gallon it (had) a lot of water flow because I had 3 bala sharks and a few goldfish and it just melted away and made a mess every time I tried. Yes I do think acclimating would help the plant, personally I was always too impatient

    I know I'm late, but figured I'd comment in case someone else randomly found this like me. I just have a low tech 10 gallon and my bacopa australis grows like crazy... at least by small low tech tank standards :). I tends to grow about 1-2cm a week which is a lot faster than anything else I have, including wisteria. I started with a few strands loosely planted and now the back corner is full of the stuff planted as close as I'm willing to. I just had to move some into my new 5 gal tank actually, and it'd probably start taking over there too.

    Hello I just saw video and I have a few questions. I have a 55 planted, I use leaf zone, a 67k and a 10k HO T5 lights but I don't have CO2. I have cabombas and a few others that I forgot their names. im in the process of getting a 20 gal angle tank and I want a plant that will carpet my tank but no soil just small gravel. what do you recommend?? again no CO2 but leaf zone and enough lighting.

      Woojong I had the same confusion, I think they call hornwort, milfoils, and other similar plants as foxtails because of that bushy tip, but actual foxtail plants are bur like. Coontails is another nickname for hornwort as well, and thats what I figured out but I could be wrong

    Hi! One question: what would be the best method of removing excess plants that are starting to spread from the back of my aquarium to the front? I don't know the exact species (because i've got it as a gift), but it's some sort of a Sag that grows really long and really fast (and has deep roots). I'm feeling that if I remove it with roots all the time, I will be disturbing the substrate too much (too often).

    will this be enough for a low tech 10 gallon planted tank? 1st time planting but you could say i'm an intermediate in maintaining fish.
    i'll be buying;
    - normal ADA aqua soil 9litre (can i use the soil only? is 9 litre to much) how thick it should be?
    - Light (15-20watt? what voltage range you recommend because all the item sold rated by voltage) can i use 2 sets of light made for 5 gallon?
    - tongs
    - plants depending on the stock in the shop (recommendation?)
    - maybe a co2 system if i decided to go high tech
    - maybe a seachem plant fundamentals pack
    i already own;
    - a real drifwood 5 years ago but not sure about the type though (no more tanning the water)
    - a HOB power filter (5x circulation perhour)
    - heater, do i need it? (i live in the equator and it was an impulse buy)
    - several rocks
    - 10 gallon glass tank lidless
    - i have a few litre of ADA aqua soil but it's mixed with equal amount of gravel (4 year old aqua soil)

I was completely blindsided about how crazy it grew. I also heard, but haven't tried, that you can plant it on its side with the roots that grow off of it into the substrate and it makes a crazy and beautiful carpet.

So I started researching it and found your video. It's been in my aquarium for about 3 weeks and the new leaves are becoming broader/wider. Some of the plants are beginning to change. Still beautifully green, great roots, but I kinda want it to go back to the way it looked when I put it in the aquarium. Got any suggestions? I know this is an older video, hope you can help.
