That last one (MoinMoin from Nigeria): I've only tried it once, at a big Nigerian graduation party. There was so much food! But that one thing really stood out. It was like a pudding made from beans, with the hulls taken off, I think it's pretty laborious to make. It had some seasoning, some chopped chili peppers might have been visible. It was good! I think anyone could eat it, and it will eventually become a World Food. I just this moment realized it can probably be put up in cans! I would buy that!
The cow poo soup was interesting. It was even more interesting that the guy liked it. I saw a vid about something similar in a SE Asian country. They didn't make it into a soup; they used it as the main ingredient in a dish, after a thorough cleaning, of course.
Weird food is in every culture. It's ok to politely decline eating weird food but not right to insult the food culture of other people and make a big issue over it. . These people are projecting 'holier than thou' attitude and think that they're holier, super clean and superior than people who eat weird food. No need to make an issue of 'weird food '. Don't like it then just don't eat it. Don't try to project your holiness and elevate yourselves above the Chinese or other people.
I don't understand why someone should eat weird food... what is the purpose? I live in China since 2008 but I don't eat something just because someone wants to offer me. Example I don't like spicy food, even just a little spicy, so I don't eat it when is on the table even if they keep telling me "oh don't worry it is not spicy, just a little, it is delicious, try it" or I don't drink any alcohol so I kindly refuse beer/wine/baijiu, etc I eat what I'm comfortable to try even something weird (example no problem with chicken feet as long as they are not spicy, or with frogs or snakes) and kindly refuse what I know I don't like or that I don't want to try. my wife is Chinese and she likes black fried chou tofu or durian, she can eat but I don't see why I should try it
Politely declining because you truly don't like it is fine. Nobody will blame you if you refuse to eat bugs or if you truly are not able to eat spicy. Trying to FORCE the guest to drink, especially when he has work in the morning - that's on the host. But saying that you're never going to try it and going back and trying to insult the host - well, that one can leave .. - after all, chou tofu and chicken feet AREN'T unusual (even IF people humor you by cooking it the way you like with frogs but no real Chinese people have heard of) Also, eating turkey is weird .. (half-kidding)
@@FoieGras sorry, I don't catch your point. What do you mean with "insult the host"? Usually when I have lunch/dinner with someone that doesn't know me I say immediately that I don't eat spicy food or I don't drink beer/wine/baijiu but of course they're free to order whatever they want; it happened that at the end I ended eating only plain rice, I don't mind or complain.
@@linphilip6389 it is not a matter of comfort zone (I moved 10k km from my hometown since 14 years, I have no problem leaving my comfort zone 😅) Simply we are lucky enough that we can choose what to eat, what is the point on eating food that we don't like or we don't find attractive?

i think GIN is cantonese. means awesome
The only thing remotely similar to "gin" in Cantonese that I am aware of is 勁, but the pronunciation is quite different.
Seriously? Bees…? 😂😂
