These two players both have improved themselves so much since Miya lost to Gluto in their last match couple of months ago. Always happy to see new rising stars like Miya in smash community beating the old kings🎉🎉🎉
Many Japanese who watch Smash Bros. have expressed their displeasure and disbelief in this tournament (other than MIYA winning).
When many Japanese players, not only A-cola and miya, but also many other Japanese players, were ranked highly in the player rankings, some non-Japanese Smash Bros. spectators and players said that it was cheating because Japanese players could participate in Japanese tournaments, and that such rankings were meaningless. Miya is just built different. Didn’t even think this level of G&W was possible. I love how everyone is now putting G&W in like top 3 best characters in the game but prior to that they put him in like number 15-20 😂. G&W is top 10 imo.

Beginning of Ultimate he was mid tier. Then Maister did well and most people put him in top 20. Now that miya is doing well that has elevated to top 5.
G&W just has a very tough time getting kills and is very light. He’s not carried like people say. This is completely deserved for MiYa

Exactly and the thing is... It's just a skill issue for some and for the others it's being too committed to a pocket character. Most of Japan are specialist and/or have a circumventing or cheesy pocket. That way they can focus on pushing mastering and maintaining piloting their mains to the absolute limits.
T is a perfect example. He was able to carry the most basic and straightforward Link piloting to a pretty high result. At that point in time Link was considered a mid tier. That led everyone to believe that that's how you have to play with Link to get results and that the item play (Arrow and Bomb) wasn't optimal and too difficult maintain. Prand Grix (another japanese Link main) went on to prove them wrong by showing you can pilot link consistently that way. All he was missing was T's understanding of neutral. Imagine if T could pilot like him. I can tell you without a doubt that Link would be banned because they'd find a flowy, hit potent, and defensively responsible Link too oppressive. Honestly he can be if the opportunity isn't a master pilot themselves.
The West thinks they have all the answers when but Japan made sure to ask the questions the West wasn't asking. Can I do this? I wonder how this setup would work? Do I have more options?

It's funny how they made the Steve ban tournament into an Atier tournament but ended up losing points to the Japanese team. Since they're going to go this far and crush Japan, I'm sure the Americans will take over the world rankings in the later stages.

Miya diapered everyone he played. He had top players sweating so hard at ledge for the majority of his matches. Even when he was in disadvantage which was barely ever he never let it get to him and by the end of the match he was overwhelming everyone. Looking like the best player in the world by a large margin.

Man, the only other GnW I knew was Maister and I thought he was good, but the way Miya optimizes his entire kit along with playing such an oppressive neutral made GnW look super scary. I didn't even think he had that kind of speed and movement.
At this point, stream viewers rant over any character, So i prefer Steve coming back to legality. At least is really good when Steve lose, but banning him makes empty victories.
In this particular tournament, I don't think unbanning Steve would have made a big difference. I doubt Acola was interested in coming to this anyway, while Onin doesn't plan to play at a major until port priority. A few other Steve players can make runs sometimes, but other times they lose in pools. So, idk, it might have caused two or three relevant players earlier than they did, but the top 8 would have likely been the same.

Miya is the most enjoyable gnw player imo and this coming from a gnw main. He’s so intuitive in a lot of small ways that I don’t ever see from other gnw mains. Made me realize that gnw isn’t as limited as I thought he was
This is what makes Japan so good. The West judges characters before seeing what they can do when piloted at a master level. Same thing happened with Acola. Before he start winning so many tourneys Onin Jake and Yonni were considered the best Steves.
It's time for the west to go back to the drawing board because that level of mastery takes specialist levels of training and re-optimization. That's why Tea only uses Kazuya to cheese a game on FD if he can. That way he can focus more on keeping his flow with Pacman as crispy as possible.

Honestly, I think Miya looked a little bit shaky at times during this tournament. Like, in the Kurama set, he used chef the wrong way like five times, and he SD in one game. The fact that he still won is crazy.

@raven-a BIG disagree, all of his aerials are phenomenal ( top 5 up air and nair in the game,) UNDENIABLE best up b AND out of shield option. neutral b is great (able to invalidate many fighters at ledge) so is bucket. best smash attacks in the entire smash roster. f-tilt that lasts forever. oh also top 5 jab in the game.
the only "bad move" he has is up tilt. d tilt is usuable and ok. Overall he is full of some of the best moves of the entire smash roster, no wonder he is broken. I have no idea why tweek and some other people downplay this character. even before miya, I feel like people should have realized his how much of threat he could be in the game.
That fair on shield into grab is such a bummer man😂. Also G&W disadvantage options are amazing against wario.

Anyone else screaming at gluto to stop drifting towards Miya when above him? Like I know it's so much harder than it looks, but he just kept trying to cross over above him or he'd be far enough to the side to be safe while falling and would switch his drift back towards the up air and get hit.. I'm sure it's built into his muscle memory at this point bc normally it would help mix up his opponent but man it probably cost him 1000 percent he could've avoided in this set.
Anyways still love glut, his smash 4 wario is actually what amazed me to the point i started religiously watching smash when I haven't actually played since melee

I love the irony about how Japan gets exactly what they want - dominance - by claiming to have a game that is made primarily for fun, with almost exclusive tourney representation by the lowest possible funfactor experience available to both spectators and other players.
