does it still hold up well? Asking because I'm considering it as my second guitar but I don't want to yet again save up a bit to buy something like my current strat clone, which has miraculously done neck and overall fine woodwork but the tuners are already loose, the bridge became impossible to intonate on low E and there's probably more problems to come since it's only been around 5 months of daily playing.
@@edutom97 thanks for the advice but it is a "if I won't get into guitar at least I haven't spent a lot" type of thing so it's at a half (if not less) of the epiphone's price and the plastic core tuners just rotate how they want. Sure I could upgrade it but with other small issues it feels like more trouble than it's worth.
I wish Epiphone would make more models with a plain top instead of a flame veneer. I am so tired of flame tops that I refuse to buy a guitar with a flame top. After seeing this video, I think I just might pick up one of these Classic models. It sounds great and looks so much better than the flame tops which have become so 'every-day' looking to me, while a beautiful plain top looks so unique. Funny that a few years ago, it was the flame tops that were rare.
Absolutely, I have this same guitar but honey burst and you can see nice grain n the single piece bird's eye maple. Everyone who sees it is like "that's a beautiful guitar"
I am not a Les Paul guy , my first guitar was a Les Paul in the early 80s and I have not liked them since. They sound great, I just dont like how they look or feel. Having said that, that sounded good to me. Cool thing is ,I found a new guitar channel to watch and learn from. Great work, subscribed!
Very nice review, I recently looked at the Alex Lifeson Epiphone with Floyd The guitar looked beautiful. But the Frets closer to the Bridge felt like spikes. I held two of them from Two different GC stores. Both felt horrible. I’ll be checking one of these out. I’ve had an Epiphone Custom over 20 years and it’s still my favorite.
I never liked Les Paul's until I tried one standing up with a strap. I was sold! Reason being, I always played them sitting down; I found them awkward and oddly balanced. But, standing up they're perfect. Just food for thought.
Mike, I very much appreciated your review of this Epiphone LP Classic. At first I thought this would be a review of the Classic models that I own. My first is a 2006 Epi LP Classic Quilt Top in Honeyburst finish from the Samick Indonesia factory. I also have another LP from the same series, it is a 2003 Epi LP Classic Quilt Top in Trans Red finish. This one was from the Saein factory in Korea. The series I am referring to is the 1995-2006 Epiphone Classic Quilt Top run that unfortunately ended in 2006. It was definitely considered successful, & produced many stunning guitars that were being made with premium features (not split coil), & a look that set them apart from the rest. If you, or anyone has further information on this, please post it! Thanks!
Thank you for providing this info. I love Epiphone Les Paul’s from the early 2000s. I recently bought two - 2008 standard honeybuns and 2013 60s Tribute Plus. Both outstanding guitars in every aspect. My first which I still own is a 2009 ‘56 GoldTop with upgraded P90s . Period correct control and switch plate colors. It is a fantastic LP. Now I’m on the hunt for the ones you identified .
I recently had to sell a Gibson Les Paul Faded T and I'm shopping around for a less expensive replacement. The Epiphone Classic seems to be the one. I like the slightly brighter sound of the Alnico Classic PRO Humbucker pickups. They sound close to the 490s that were in my Faded T. I appreciate that you really allow us to hear the guitar by playing some big open chords. Thanks for the review and demo. You've helped me decide.

One of the most awesome Epiphone's out there! Beautifully finished in Honeyburst and loaded with features: coil split humbuckers (with plenty of balls in full humbucker mode), tone push/pull phase shift (coil taps also push/pull acess), smooth action and amazing playability right out of the box. Like true Les Paul's it is heavy (right around 10 pounds) and Epiphone's got-it-right redesigned headstock, etc. I am happy to recommend this guitar to anyone (at a safe price comfortably under $500. and worth every dime. I've had mine about 4 to 5 months now and press your advantage by getting the Epiphone hard shell Les Paul case. Absolutely far out!
I already have an Epi 1960 Tribute Plus and Love it, I've been thinking about this to complement it and reviews like Yours are slowly making my mind up, thanks, Bro.

Great vid ..but I'm somewhat baffled to think why it can't be used for a pro as well as a first guitar buyer ..why does it differ to a guitar over priced like a Gibson to have the same performance as a guitar with a less of a status because of just the name.. I like this vid because it was clear to explain the tones and guitar but I do believe its for pros to buy as well as first time guitar buyer as it's a good enough guitar for all.
I’ve had my honeyburst classic since 2020 and haven’t done a thing to it besides change the knobs for gold bells instead of the reflectors. I upgraded from the plustop pro and it is a big improvement and really happy with the pickups and everything about it.
Interesting, I have the Plus Top Pro, .. a question. Did you find once recorded all your demo's sounded from Plus top pro sounded flat on some strings mainly 2nd and 3rd (G)

I have many Epiphone Les Paul models and they are all good guitars. I have that same one in honey and I love it. One thing I like about the Gibsons are the vintage frets. I don't pay 3 times more for the Gibson, there are differences but not that many.
I just got a new one from Sweetwater. Noticed the action was kind of high so, I checked the neck relief and it had none. Took off the strings to check the neck and the nut fell off. The truss rod was slack and the neck was back bowed. Basically, that guitar can never be setup correctly. I am starting to wonder about their 50 something point check. I don't mind too much having to tweak the setup, but the nut falls off? and the nut slot was not cut straight plus there was paint that ran under the nut from the headstock. I am certain they will replace it because their customer service is awesome but, seriously, whoever signed off that QC should be looked into.
Nice job Mike. I’m sure a lot of people forget, you can upgrade almost everything on an Epiphone. Tuners, but, frets, pickups, bridge and tail piece, switches and pots, output jack. I’ve got three Epi Les Paul’s, and all have been upgraded. Except the 60’s tribute I got about 4 months ago.
You can upgrade whatever you want. My 69 wired is perfect as is. These are good quality, playability is great, looks pretty good. For the price, plus if you wanted to replace anything, up to the person, you’d have a fantastic Les Paul, still for way less than a Gibson.
@@motorcyclemark2889 The pro buckers are epiphones version of burst buckers, but not the same. They’re not Gibson pickups. They sound good, but not as good. Nice guitar for the money. Personally, those split coil tones sound awful. IMO 😉Im pretty sure the back isn't one piece. It's why they put that tacky looking cheap 1960`s furniture stripe veneer on the back to hide the multi piece back.

Hey Michael don't worry about some comments.... I appreciate your review going to a lot of effort so gratulations are in order. If you can advise if these have treble bleed like the modern..... trying to decide between the 2 Thanks
Epiphone makes a fantastic Les Paul and SG too. Good review.
