Just checked. They got the houses - lots of them. Also huge industrial sites. The quarries were never fully filled in and form part of a nature reserve.

Like his answer for 25 years,,now a massive retail park and indoor shopping centre.

The chalk pits never did get filled.. they just built a large shopping centre, Tesco and retail park in them which was all opened by 1990. The rest of the fillable land had an industrial park and a large housing estate built upon it.

Just overcrowded now. No amenities to support all the new housing that’s been built there 🤷‍♀️ Glad iv left

Used to play in those pits as a kid. Until Chafford Hundred came along and spoilt it all 😂
