Mine was stolen a while back and it has completely sunk me. At ground zero with it sitting in my lot unable to fix it. It's crippled me and it sucks there isnt something out there to help more people dealing with this issue

Nice to live in Indiana where in my part of the state they don't do smog checks. If my catalytic converter is ever stolen i'll replace it with an aftermarket one I can find for $500.
Her in colorado oem is a must .however at inspection the motor shuts off.dont even look. Also they have a hiway drive by thing.

Thanks for the info. Just happened to me sat gpt jacked. Out here in Pasadena area. I just purchased the eBay part. 🤷♂️ I just need it fixed to drive not be so loud. I'll worry about the check engine later. Sucks thus happens 😕. But it's just not worth paying 3k for the oem part..great Info thank you
I feel your pain I've been there! Worst feeling ever, but you'll get through it. That's why I went this route, I didn't wanna pay $3,000 for a freakin replacement part when my car was worth maybe a little bit more than that, i actually just sold my car instead and ended up upgrading to a newer Prius, I'm always scared no matter what we I park my car in a public location.

100 bucks from AliExpress and free shipping. Arrived in about two weeks.
Definitely not OEM quality, but at least I won’t be stranded until the OEM part comes in the mail from Toyota. This backorder sucks.
Get one Made in Canada. They are the catalytic converter experts. They make OEM converters for most all cars Made in the USA including GM, Ford, Toyota, BMW, Honda and Subaru. They make Walker and MagnaFlow converters.

Took mine 3 times and after the second time it happened its all for free in Sweden...no self insurance cost or anything
Nothing is free, you pay for it with small homes and high taxes
But what are you gonna do when it’s time to smog, those eBay cats will not pass smog, they don’t need to even look at the cat, the smog analyzer will determine that the HC levels are way too high. HC = hydrocarbon, which is unburned fuel
You have to pay to "Pass" lol. That's the only way. Or if you just smog recently you have about 2 years till you have to worry about it so it can buy you time to repair properly. Firme...
I don’t know how it is in California, but in my state, the people working the smog check do not care at all, they plug their little connector into the OBD port, and the computer tells them what to say. They do not run an actual exhaust test. If you get a spacer for your O2 sensor the computer will say you pass all day long, you could probably rig your exhaust with HVAC duct and it would pass. As long as the oxygen sensor reports low particulates, you pass. They ain’t looking under there

Yes I purchased through Ebay and I was able to get it delivered, if you go through Amazon they will not ship it to your Cali Address, only Ebay.

Really? You ratted out the muffler shop and now you can't sell the Prius in California as it you have knowingly had the catalytic system modified. It's a crime under California law but also in all 50 States. It's a crime to alter the factory catalytic system. That muffler shop can get charged + loose their business license for installing a non C.A.R.B. compliant catalytic converter. The smog inspection shop will also fail you if they can't read the numbers.
Do what you want but don't implicate other folks in your TH-cam videos.
