I think your serve is the shot you improved the most in comparison with last season. During your first year, there was no easy game and you had to work hard for each of them. Now, you can win your service games much easier, which means more confidence and more energy saved for return games.
His backhand has improved so much it is incredible, he can hit so many hard flat winners, when I first watched he was just getting the ball back on the BH side and trying to use the forehand for everything.
Unlucky Felix. Looks like you got a but unlucky in your second match but Nico looked like a very talented shot maker so no shame losing that match. Just a few points here or there decided it as well as the long toilet break. Goodluck for your next tournament.
The dominance in match 1 is more significant than the awkward second match. It's not so easy becoming a solid player on the tour and your first match showed you are exactly doing that.
Hey Felix! I love your content and can't stop watching it, since i discovered your channel. i love playing tennis and my strokes and technic is quite good but my movement and conditioning is absolutely terrible and since i started playing higher and better opponents i am struggling with my gamestyle. what i'm trying to say is i absolutaly love your movement on the court and try to figure out what i can learn from you, but what i would really appreciate from you would be if you could share your traing split, your conditioning training and what you do for speed or expolsion! Thank you for your content, keep up the grind, waiting to see you in TV! :D
Felix just go to college in the states, it’s impossible to grind your way thru ITF qualies.. colleges will at least get you WCs into challengers and even ATP events in the states around the college
he simply isn't talented enough to go all the way on the pro tour, he would do well at the college level but unfortunately he becomes much too tight in the big moments
That match was so exciting and entertaining. Real protennis to me. You boths played very good. The margin was so little who wins the point, so the lucky ones were also very important. I think the calls were relatively even. Nothing to shame for you, keep it up! 🤙
Your UTR level is increasing, which is the best outcome any player could ask for. Keep going! The main thing is to figure out what you want to work on (whatever that may be), and then work solidly to get there. What we've all seen is a will to do the work, and you've really improved in many areas in the last year, which is obvious to all viewers. As long as you keep up the work, you will keep improving. Go for it Felix; I love the idea that people we know of from our local area (Sutton, and Surrey generally, etc) are really doing well. I'm also happy to see James Beaven doing well too. Happy that Henry Jefferson has made it to a US scholarship, just like Dan Siddall. So many players from this area are kicking goals, it's really great to see.
@@thefedhd1580 you really are ignorant. UTR is a measuring tool. What you're effectively saying is "I don't like to measure something that is measurable". And then you discuss it with university? You are looking so good these days Felix. Serve, FH, switching down the line. Bad luck with the umpire and mega-tactical toilet break. Keep it up though, we all love these videos.
Hey Felix. Played against your German club you are listed in yesterday. Was funny to see you in the Playerlist and I first couldn‘t belive it until i checked. Haha It would have been funny to see you on the court when we have Matchday. Aaanyways, good luck for the future and keep grinding!
Toilet breaks are not allowed before a tie-break, even if it's a match time-break. Toilet breaks are only allowed before a start of the set and match tie-break is not a set, it's a tie-break. It was a judgement error on an empire's end.
We see you improving as a player day by day, especially with that power serve and the strong forehand. Keep it up, hopefully in Kuwait you can get into another main draw. Vamooooos Felix 💪🙂 Btw he may was sick, but you got so Nishikori'd like Nadal in Río 2016 olympic games, unlucky
Tough match, just a few things swung his way, could call some of it luck, but like you were saying, if you can get out in front with aggression earlier than him in points, might not have been so close and might not be next time. He does have an amazing one hander and lot of topspin on the forehand
good work on the qualies. better than last season. yea a first set win in the second match would be good at your game level. one aspect of your game that you can work in this season for your game could be your shot placement and form consistency. you Cleary are working on developing the power, but you need a bit more consistency so you can capitalize with that power and convert points. for example, your slices in the second match were mostly at mid court (while your opponent is at baseline or inside baseline), meaning you are setting the perfect balls for your opponent to wail on them, giving him the upper hand in the rally. go deeper towards the baseline (no mans area to the baseline) which forces your opponent to be on the back foot, and a giving you more time to react to your opponent. and your lobs need to be deeper not perticularly too high. and you seem to be hesitating when your opponent is trying to dominate. don't panic. believe in your training. and you start to be aggressive in your shot selection in those cases. 70-80 percent of the time player at this level will stumble when their opponents mirror their change of pace. that is when you can take advantage. keep up the good work. and don't be shy to hit deep baseline shots and miss by a balls width rather than put the ball low and watch as your opponent hits a winner (this will impact your mentality more the first way). finally train more down the line shots for both forehand and backhand, with your reach you can convert those shots into winners more often. god bless.🙏
Great tennis court venue with all those palm trees. What were the conditions like? I hear Tunisia is a comfortable 17c on average in December. You played well, the match you lost was very close. Hope you get some time to rest and recuperate over Christmas.
love the camera angle. do you mind sharing your recording set up? if it's a tripod inside the fence, i am surprised the tournaments and opponent are okay with it.
Felix your game improved nice but most things you missed it . When you served yourd on court some slowly move in baseline improved some more. I am impressed by your some good back hand and forehand shots. I hope you definitely think about in this competition on overall you good tennis🎾. Those line 'calls' in the second match were obviously in error and given the seriousness of the match inadequate. Both of those that went against you were in error. Nico is a solid player and his backhand is good. It is great to see more one handers. His serve is decent also
a lot of your groundstrokes landing near service line and not deep enough. just an observation, the pros are nailing balls near the baseline more often
Definitely my thoughts in the start of the first match, way to short to often, if you improve that, you're gonna get a lot more easier ball to get forward and impose your offensive game.
youre a great player. Figure out how to use your forehand, and work on your backhand placement and I dont even know how high your ceiling is. But enjoy it man! Youre on a journey. That last ace call though... that was a terrible call...
He has a 1-handed backhand. How many balls did you get over his shoulder to deleverage him? From the highlights, he hit way too many forehands, and most of the backhands were between his hip and shoulder. You should beat this guy, even though he's a quality opponent.
Long breaks are cheating. If a player cannot play he should quit, if he is tired or upset he should continue right away. Only obvious injuries should be a reason for breaks for treatment.
Felix was definitely the better player, Nico looked slow and very poor once you put him on the back foot. Nico had a good serve and forehand once he had time on it though.

They should not play this super tie-break nonsense in the third set. It should be like the rest of pro tour in singles- best of 3 full sets
