@@Typical_Tyeus you can challenge people to melee duels, but pillaging is never the answer unless enacted first. Don’t try to twist this into anything other than indifference and greed, which you should meet with apathy and pivot away from if anything. I’ll be asking if anyone wants to battle my katana though
It's staggering to me that they have such well-developed characters, personality, story, lore, etc. for this game and absolutely no fucking ability to capitalize on any of it. PvE was going to be the canvas to finally express that. I'm sure that behind boardroom doors, there's a sad tale of ambitious achievement cut short by corporate bean counters. But after waiting so long, with so little delivered, there was a reasonable expectation that this was the big thing that we were all waiting for. And now that's gone like a fart in the wind.
It's similar to the developers were more in love with the IDEA of great and unique characters, but never actually had any idea of what they actually wanted to do. When someone wants to do something, they DO it. Watch Astartes (by Syama Pedersen). Made by a single person who wanted to DO something cool. Watch Arcane (by Riot). A FULL STORY made by a studio that wanted to DO something awesome. At this point, I'm fully convinced that there is no clear direction behind Overwatch. They don't actually know what they are doing. As demonstrated by the near-decade (7 years) of nothing being done.
Could you imagine playing as genji, hanzo and kiriko as they take back their home from the rival gang? Could you imagine reinhardt and brig having a real master apprentice strory arc resulting in brig taking up reinhardts hammer.... or the millions of possibilities they had for a fantastic story. Blizzard really did just start a chainsaw while holding it between their legs. Rip overwatch
Well, to be clear, these things can still happen; the story mode is still happening. It's just... literally everything else is gone. The replayability, the talents, progression, all of that is gone
@@Tsunder623 And there lies the problem. They say they're still going to give the story mode, just like they said they would do this. We can't trust anything they say anymore. If they're willing to lie about something this big, why trust them to not lie about everything else?
@@blahturretx7327 I'd also add on that the story mode will be drip fed through seasons; it'll be like watching a tv show that has new episodes every 3-6 months. How can we even get invested into a larger scale narrative that takes that long to go anywhere?
I never truly lost hope in the game until now. This is just such a slap in the face honestly, the expectation of PvE is literally what kept majority of players interested. I can’t believe that after 4 years they just go "well actually this is too much work" like?? I know many things have changed for the devs but man. How bad does it need to be for them to cancel the thing that the entire sequel is based on
@@gujonteitur4853 I feel like at this point, we can’t keep coping like this. I commend you if you have faith in the devs, but “no, guys, surely there has to be a good reason they’re not doing X”, has got to stop being an excuse for them.
@@gujonteitur4853 Like I said, that was my mindset for a long time, but I gotta draw the line somewhere you know? Every single time blizzard messed something up and everyone went "this game is dead !1!1!1!1" I was always the person who gave them the benefit of the doubt. And where did that lead me? I was disappointed over and over again, so I just don’t see the point anymore. I will probably still check out the story missions when they do eventually release, but I think this cancellation has done irreparable damage to the community. Like the guys in the podcast said, the game will struggle heavily with maintaining an active playerbase with a model like this. I just don’t see myself becoming truly invested in this game ever again, but hey I’d be more than happy to be proven wrong.
Blizzard seems to have been becoming more and more corrupt. When I saw the battlepass and insane prices of skins this (to me at least) was enough to show me all they cared about is money. And removing PVE is just another nail on the coffin. I hope this hurts them because they lied to us for years and made a 'new game' of OW2 for PVE only to say they aren't doing it. Then what's the point of OW2? Other than money for them? Hate video game companies who do this.

I wasnt even expecting a massive PvE like Destiny or Borderlands, I was thinking it be more like Payday or Deep Rock where the main focus was the gameplay loop as well as some progression systems making you hooked. The fact that its entirely watered down to archives 2 is so depressing. Whats even sadder is I feel like other than not having the actual assets to make maps and enemies, the workshop community will probably make better missions than the actual missions. FLATS EMONG AND SEAGULL HAVE ALREADY PLAYED ONE
I was most looking forward to coming up with the most toxic strategies as a team against the story mode instead of knowing I’d be killing the fun of the other team. Oh well ig
Deep Rock with skill trees and loot drops was essentially how they described it. Which, I've always loved Deep Rock and found it highly unlikely Overwatch PvE would be as good, so I don't care personally.
There are already customs with skill trees that you can buy after earning kills or whatever lol it’s just the scale and polish we were looking for honestly, but of course we can’t have what was promised
I think they should at least release that level to the public. An eulogy or a tombstone for us to remember. It’s definitely not the logical way to approach this. But it just might soothe some pain we were dealt. (Or pour salt on our open wound idk
@@EruditeFeline Hog still supposed to have some sort of rework cuz the nerf was a temporary fix. Still haven't heard anything about that lmao. The devs don't even have the pve excuse cuz that shiz was cancelled years ago.
I think Flats nailed it. They made a game and tried to be a competitive shooter, an e sport, a lore filled game, a story game, a casual game, a free to play battle pass game, a pve game, and just so many other concepts that it was bound to fail. The team never had a strong direction on anything really.
OW was never an E sports, if they didnt bribe ppl with tokens to watch their stream on mute while doing smth thats fun. The Views for OWL would be abysmal and still are.
It’s crazy how after nearly 4 years of waiting for the “2” in OW2, we essentially just got what OW1 would have been by 2021 if they didn’t stop updating the game
I would bet money that this decision is why Jeff Kaplan left. Someone like a game director doesn't leave for something little and not by coincidence. They made this decision, he didn't like it and left, but they've kept it under wraps this whole time so it didn't ruin the pre-launch momentum for OW2
Completely agree. There are many people putting blame on Jeff even though he was there for the fans and the game. His passion was there from the beginning. No one else had the balls to give balance change updates with a face cam to their community. Jeff was the shining beacon of hope for the game. With his departure also left the dream that was OW2.
Yeah, it was pretty clear he was leaving because he was firmly resisting a business decision. At the time, I thought it was the seemingly likely move to free-to-play and monetization systems that make 99 cent Loot boxes look charming and quaint. I expected all sorts of shit from the Kotick Unleashed version of Overwatch, but I truly didn't expect straight up ditching skill trees. Like, they couldn't even make skill trees for the heroes of the main 3 archives events? People love comp OW, sure, but it's an obsessively engineered game that feels great in the hands - people love to unwind and smash bots in it too! And they were looking at 40-50 talents per hero?? That number seem strange to anyone else? I'd have been super happy with "just" 10-20 per hero. Now we get 0.
@@pantslesswrock my thought exactly. When the F2P news came out, it seemed liked that was the reason Jeff left, but I think this is it. Also notice in the article when the reporter asks WHEN they made the decision to drop PvE, they avoided that aspect of the question and just rambled for a bit. To your point about the skill trees, 40-50 per character is a lot, idk why they felt that many were needed. And they also were probably factoring in all the characters currently in development that we don't know about. But they could easily just release characters to PvE in waves, the whole roster didn't need to be done to launch the thing. Also plenty of games with progression systems have generic upgrades for each character. They could've done a generic skill tree that's the same for everyone and then character specific upgrades, that way both trees can be half the size. more health, more damage, earn XP faster, faster ability cool downs, faster movement speed and bam if you do 4-5 upgrade levels for each of those categories that's already 20-25 talents for every character before your morning coffee. They had YEARS to work on this and I just solved their problem with 5 minutes of thinking
@@tiger7892 Yes!!! It seems so obvious it's pretty baffling. If I had to make a best guess as to why, here's the best I can do: They came up with a just killer, best in class large skill tree for 5 or so characters, even put in little hooks in the years-long planning schedule to test implementation while designing the rest. What we need to remember is that this version of OW2 was pitched to us second - the first people they pitched it to was ABK brass above the developer level. OW2 as it was advertised sounded like a great game, yeah, but it also sounded like a great money maker. The devs probably realized pretty early on the issues with implementing everything as pitched. But by allocating resources, ABK had already essentially "bought" OW2 into existence, or at least development. There's no takesiebacksies on that kind of scratch, and definitely not without people who worked long and hard to get their jobs in a creative field losing their jobs. Just saying "Sorry Mr. Kotick, a man who threatened to have his secretary *murdered* and definitely has the resources to do so, but we won't be able to deliver that amazing thing we promised and you gave us money and time to make" isn't gonna fly, so you keep trying, for years, to make something work, AND OH GREAT JEFF LEFT TOO and now your leadership with a single uncompromised vision is fractured. I really think this is the kind of thing where yes, Blizz had eyes that were a little more hungry than their stomach, but this could have been much more easily fixed back when they were independent and their bottom line didn't also effect the bottom line of everything from CoD to Candy Crush. A single company can put itself into debt for an eventual payoff longer than they will usually be allowed to when owned by a conglomerate.
@@pantslesswrock that. Number is ridiculous. He pulled it out of his ass. No one. And I mean NO ONE. Ever. Said hero's had to have 40-50 tallents. I'm gonna be real here. Freedo glazing over this fumble is exactly why this shit happens and why blizzard will do it again and again. A huge problem happens and all this community does is damage control on blizzards behalf. It's hot news for a couple days and everyone shuts up and goes back to queueing saying OH WELL.
Couldn’t agree more. Freedo has been simping for and defending horrible decisions made by blizzard for a while now and it’s infuriating. I know he’s not a plant, but I am 100% convinced that he thinks he can stay in Blizzard’s good graces and be invited to events/receive game codes from them if he keeps kissing ass. He does not represent this community.
I think he's just trying to look at the bright side. Not everyone actually cared about the PvE. Many people really just played Overwatch for the PvP. I feel fucking sad the PvE is basically gone, and hate Blizzard for teasing us for years at this point. But I can see where he's coming from.
Yeah when Freedo and SVB say "We HAVE to look at the bright side" I seethed. I know this is a really emotional moment for all Overwatch fans, but the reality is, objective truth isn't always the "fair and balanced take", there's a quote from the Newsroom that I really like here "If Republicans do 13 crazy things in a month and Democrats do 1, is the fair and balanced thing to concoct 12 additional stories about Democrats?" -- This is bad, full stop, we have no obligation to twist ourselves into a pretzel to create a "bright side" in service of being fair and balanced. It's disingenuous and unhelpful.
How about some cold-hearted indifference that could be spun into positivity instead? I never had any expectations of the Hero Missions or its progression system. None of the pre-release PvE footage they showed particularly impressed me, neither did the Junkenstein mission. I play many far more developed PvE games than anything I was expecting Blizzard to give us with Overwatch PvE. Conversely, Overwatch is really the only game I play online and one of the few that I think are any good. The way I see it, the PvE was always going to be rubbish and now I get more PvP content.
@@thomasp506 Yeah I feel like we all knew it wasn't going to go anywhere once they strung us along so hard for several seasons of OW2, I'm kind of surprised to see everyone break down *this* hard. Its been a looong time since we've gotten *any* new maps or heroes, and ive been having a great time w them. And at least we're still getting PvE lol, if anything I'm gonna enjoy it more now that every character on the team won't literally be the main character themselves, most of those abilities looked like they'd be pretty gamebreaking and boring to play with tbh
It literally JUST occured to me when I heard the news that Seagull was right on the GroupUp Podcast where he said he didn't think it was going to be a whole game and was just going to be little missions here and there. SVB and the others were all against him saying no way and that it would be a whole new game and revitalize everything. Once again Seagull is proven right, this dude may be psychic or something lol EDIT: This was actually on Freedos podcast with AVRL, Freedo, Flats, and Seagull! Not SVB's podcast my mistake!
I think Seagull had a more "realistic" idea of what PvE was probably going to end as where everyone else took the PvE announcement at face value for what the devs said it would be.
I think a lot of people saw this coming tbh. At least I did, I was thinking it was never gonna be as big scale as people were making out and hoping. I thought it would just be little missions, I was never under the impression that it would be a super massive drop of content as if a whole new game within OW2.
Bro Freedo is secretly a dev man, ain’t no way you can he this optimistic after this shit 😂 yeah we were optimistic about pve too and look where it got us.
Go to the end, he literally had an epiphany at the end of the call and got angry over the fact blizz sold a ton of stuff in OW2 because everyone thought it was essentially being paid forward to let the Devs make the PVE and it got cancelled, essentially bait and switching the playerbase. But yeah, rest of the call he was surprisingly chill about it
It’s no secret conspiracy darkweb shit. Dude is a Shameless shill, all there is to it. Grateful for the other Avengers here telling it like it is. There are tons of creators who have channels focused on one game but still criticize the devs/publisher for objectively disgraceful decisions

Freedo needs to hop off the copium. This is not a normal part of game development. Killing off a game, re-introducing it with more monetization all under the guise of a new PvE mode that's coming and basing the marketing off that, rake in the BP and store cash and then scrapping that PvE mode. This is not a normal part of game development man, this straight up high level scamming.
I haven’t even watched the entire episode and I can tell from comments and the small amount of talking he has done that he is there to boot lick. Being positive is good, not giving criticism while being positive is not. This shows his own priorities in this and won’t change.
It's classic corporate game dev. That's the unspoken assumption. Freedo isn't directing flame at devs for the sole reason that they are not always responsible for the poor corporate practice of disregarding the time, talent and resource it requires to ship a great game. Business side executives are hijacking the game messaging to hit their quarterly goals. That's why the seasonal battlepass is taking the front seat instead of having a PvE game. $$$. It's the annoying reality of today's AAA industries.
@josephreynolds2401 Nobody is blaming the devs but everyone always thinks "oh man bobby kotick is really sabotaging this game" when Blizzard themselves have been nothing short of amateurish. Imagine working 5 years on a mode, scrapping the og game for it, and then having nothing to show for it. It's utter incompetence.
@josephreynolds2401 tf ? That's not what i said ? I was saying how not everything is always purely the fault of execs. Sure, the shop and BP, that's execs. The absolute shit state of comp, the lack of content, this pve fuckup...Blizz leadership has been failing spectacularly with this. Why tf you using citations on something i didn't say ? I don't need a response from someone who doesn't even know how to use citations properly or puts words in my mouth. Stop huffing that copium mate. All the talent at Blizz has left and it's been very obvious with how the game has been handled. You can't blame everything on "muh execs bad". They've let the OW team work on pve for atleast 5 years and still they couldn't even manage to get it done. At some point you have to realize that the leadership within the OW team is mega incompetent.
I wouldn't be surprised if they end up doing one but I thank if it ever does it will be a good while away. Riot is working on a fighting game rn. I thought netflix were working on a new hero shooter lmao idk. I did hear something about a new hero shooter anyway.
Freedo never truly internalized that KFC/Blizzard got bought out and became the MIDDLE NAME ALSO-RAN between Activision and actual money maker King (btw, Microsoft isn't buying Call of Duty, that's just a nice perk - they are buying their way into the top spot of a mobile market that they never were able to succeed in, coincidentally just as they are cementing their dominance in game streaming) To be fair, if Nintendo had been bought out, it would have taken me years to accept it. Hell, I still haven't truly accepted that the overbearing whimsical reign of Iwata is over.
@petunia yeah I feel the same... My main tank and I stopped playing after season 2. We loved fooling around as a tank duo and while I can play decent support it just doesn't feel the same anymore. I really miss overwatch and the fact that the just nuked it in favor of whatever OW2 is just makes me sad
I agree. As a support main I miss the off-tanks who'd peel for me as the DPS is just as braindead sometimes in OW2 if not more while the tank can't really push AND take care of the backline. Disgraceful franchise, this game.
uh...........I got news for you. They switched to 5v5 to try and save OWL. Bottom line. The lawsuits are coming and when they do, it's going to be a bloodbath. Hearing rumors that MS is secretly hoping that the US blocks the acquisition
Activision has given definitive proof that they have no ambition to do anything but bleed once great franchises dry. Separating PvE and PvP absolutely sealed the deal that PvE was never gonna happen. Activision is too short sighted to realize that this game isn’t gonna print money forever when it’s already 7 years old and has absolutely no onboarding for new players. The skill tree isn’t really the thing I was excited about. I really wanted to play these characters, see them interact and have a place to play with friends of any skill level without pressure. That last one is brutal because getting people to try this game can really feel like tossing them into a meat grinder having to learn maps, modes, controls, mechanics, basic strategy and more all at the same time while people with half a decade on the same character absolutely mops the floor with them. On top of that the player retention will probably be significantly better when you can actually relax in the game, alone or with friends and de-tilt instead of quitting and playing something else.
Honestly yeah there's nowhere to chill in Overwatch. You want to play a casual mode and take it easy and end up with some sweaty tryhard reporting you for playing a character you're not as good at in freakin arcade. There is no space to decompress and no space to learn.

I would just like to say that I’m amazed at how blind Blizzard as a company are. You would think that one of your biggest IPs and its community would be top priority in making sure it succeeds but ig the higher ups don’t care. We’ve waited years now. Blizz have no excuses. If Capcom manages to fit in a PvE, openish world story mode and many different single player modes in Street Fighter 6, A FIGHTING GAME, then Blizz really have no excuses.
SF6 isn't a live service game. It's not like live service games are easy to make and we've had countless examples of that. Even the (arguably) top PvE game on the market, Destiny, constantly has ups and downs. We've seen Anthem, Avengers, Halo Infinite, Hyperscape, Battlefield 2042, Destiny, Division, etc. all fail or stumble hard. And for future releases, Suicide Squad and Last of Us Factions looks to be going that direction. It's not easy to make these types of games and Overwatch wanted to make 2 of them. Comparing it to SF6 is absurd.

In one of the articles Jared says something along the lines of "I believe the reason people are playing OW2 is because they enjoy the game." While this may be true for some, the majority of new players were drawn because of the PvE, the Overwatch universe. The higher-ups have SEVERELY underestimated the absolute giant cash cow that the Overwatch universe and PvE are, and it's sad that more resources were not allocated to Team 4 over the past four years.

Great podcast SVB! The twitch vod got me through half my shift so thank you. As for the news. At this point I'm not surprised to be let down again in a new way from Blizzard. My expectations are with Flats. What's sad is I am a blizzard die hard fan. Been playing their games for over 20 years at this point. I don't blame the devs. I blame the short sighted people above them. Pve has a larger playerbase. People who casually play pve games pay more than casually play pvp. Pve games always have an upfront cost. Most pvp titles launch f2p and sell skins. I doubt casual players buy skins to characters or guns they don't have any investment in. Even still $60-$70 purchase vs $10-50 bucks for a single skin. Yes, for those that are hooked the repeatable purchase of skins will easily surpass the one time purchase. The problem Overwatch has always had is it isn't casual friendly. It has too much visual clutter for an average gamer to process. Which is mostly why people bounce. Visual overload. Half the time I can't tell if I'm shot and I've been playing for 7 years. All in all SVB, I wish you the best in the future man. Really do. Hope you can find a game and grow bigger because your a real nice guy. I might disagree or completely believe the opposite of you but your always very considerate of the other person and thats friggin hard man. I know I've raged like a jerk in your comments plenty about OW. It was my frustration with Blizzard and you happened to be there and have an opinion and for that I'm sorry. Much love man, H.
THIS IS THE GROUP I WAS WAITIN FOR! Was thinking I'd have to wait till Saturday but here we are! A little sad to not see AVRL but WE GOT THE BIRD LETS GOOOOOO.
Yeah this is so depressing as a former PvE hype trainer…..so out of nowhere and such a slap in the face to all fans who actually have been paying any attention
I think something to just remember, just for personal sanity, is: if you're buying something, make sure you're actually buying it. Don't buy a founders pack for PvE cause the founders pack isn't PvE. Don't buy Cyberpunk to wall climb when you don't even know if it has wall climbing, regardless of whether the trailer from 4 years ago has it or not. This isn't to say you (the buyer) were wrong to expect it or that the company isn't being deceptive or bad, but it is to say, just buy the thing you actually want to buy and don't buy the promise, cause there's really no guarantee for that promise.
The issue with coupling the story mission to buying the battlepass is that it also means there won't be many people playing so the queue would be long, which also gets longer towards the end of the season. It not being replayable because there's no power progression only amplifies that because most people will probably only play it a handfull of times if even that.
Supposedly the hero missions will be singleplayer and you will have a scoreboard of time it took you to complete (is what they said but who knows what that even means anymore)
1:45:20 One thing they could easily add is something like the legends skull challenge thing from halo where doing really hard things inside the campaign unlocks you cosmetics, that would add so much easy replayability and goals to the PVE story (and we know they are great at cosmetics). I really hope they have hard challenges and rewards to the story missions that will ship.
If you are thirsty for a glass of water and you get fed the amount of a glass of water 1 drop every other month, that's not fulfilling our needs, that is torture
Blizzard had the player bases most valued resource: Our interest. If there is one thing that is harder than anything to get in our world these days its the interest of the player, and Blizzard just showed us that it was worth absolutely nothing. They dont mind lying, cheating and confuse us as long as they make the cash. This was the last Blizzard game i played and i wont be coming back again. They had me, now they lost me.
I hate to admit that Samito always rubbed me the wrong way. He was always outspoken and quick to criticize and opinionated. Great qualities i never hated the guy or disliked him just lacked much appreciation. I have been so wrong. My faults have been shown to me in this time of need. Sam is exactly who we need at this moment and i apologize for missing out on your amazing perspective. I am subscribed tho
My feeling is, if there is less than 1 or 2 hours of PvE content at a time then the players who like PvE stuff will just watch the streamers play through that content one time and then go off in the abyss again.
I had already given up on the original beta/alpha/season 1-4 dream and romance that the first Overwatch presented to us on a platinum platter. Not only did it have the potential storytelling, polish, art and characters of something prestigious and beloved like Disney or Pixar, but also the gameplay of some of the most iconic first-person shooters and celebrated video games of all time, all somehow captured into one nuanced and seamless package like pure magic in digital form. I want to remind everyone that Tracer can travel forward and backward through time. This is a character that exists in a game. That concept alone made an online shooter like Overwatch a must-play. This all was apart of the dream I believed in as a kid in school, because that was how it was. It was all that. The great Blizzard had done it yet again -- they had entered a new genre and redefined it with bold and interesting ideas and industry shattering passion, ideals, vision. And this New Era in shooters had so much potential to go even further that we all could viscerally see it laid out right in front of us like the Golden Brick Road with Emerald City in wait. However, despite all this, it was just an online shooter that costed $40-$60. Many people argued this, and despite its great innovations, it needed more than just new maps, heroes, balance adjustments, foundational updates, etc... Along the way I discovered each of you in the podcast and your channels, and sought out your content to improve or to just laugh at how wacky of a game Overwatch is. Each of you are amazing and thank you for all the effort you’ve put into the game when you got very little in return. You all are synonymous to the game in my mind, so I just wanted to say thank you for all you’ve done.

Man, people forget that this used to be all video game journalism was. He's not on the payroll, he's old-school enthusiast press. He has a genuine emotional relationship with the concept of Blizzard, who he has loved since childhood. He got to go from kid to fan to upper-crust meet n greets with the devs themselves, and it is hard for adult him to, even after all this, turn down the excitement that the kid still inside him has that he gets to do any of this. Also, if the community falls apart and people stop playing the game, they stop watching his videos and he loses a small but steady income stream. He ain't paid off, it's just simple psychology.
@@pantslesswrock so yes he's on the payroll. The community is already fallen and the game is done. But he won't give it up. He's ambitious but reality needs to sink in if he's really that fanboy you claim him to be.
I honestly feel the only way they can save themselves is just going forward putting all their attention on PvP and actually making it better. I never actually cared for PvE but the content drought in overwatch 1 was so unnecessary. I hope they just now go fully forth with making PvP better
I'd argue it's better to have made the PvE as the focus and leave PVP in a more maintenance mode. The PvP isn't hardcore competitive. Making it better won't increase the player base significantly. It would just reduce attrition. They need to balance it, make an occasional map and hero. I don't know what they are claiming but none of that is resource intensive besides the new hero. PvE would introduce a much wider player base, add an option for the competitive players to take a break and let them capitalize better on what blizzard used to be good at. Stories. This is just a clear 'Whats the cheapest option that will give us the best bang for our buck'. We don't have to work hard for PvP and we can go whaling. This is all short term gains that will likely prevent Overwatch from ever expanding. Leadership can make their money and jump ship while blaming the devs and the players then move to another company to ruin.
They way you make PvP better is by bolstering the eSports scene and making it actually interesting and engaging to people. Because that's what makes people care more about ranked and take the game seriously on a competitive level. And obviously balancing decently but usually balancing to make pro play varied would have a good effect on the ranked balance. However you can't really just make people care about eSports especially when a super large portion of the community is casual. Valorant doesn't have that many updates, content is put out probably at the same rate as OW, but for me that game doesn't get stale because there's always interesting eSports events on. Those are the things providing hype between content downtimes for me. In OW it doesn't feel like much happens between seasons, there are eSports but not many people seem to care about it.
They stopped working on pve 1.5 years ago. They released ow2 knowing pve wasnt coming and straight up lied to their community so they could lie and get the battlepass model without making a new IP. The same amount of updates are coming for pvp, you saw that joke of a roadmap.

I was disappointed over and over again, so I just don’t see the point anymore. I will probably still check out the story missions when they do eventually release, but I think this cancellation has done irreparable damage to the community.
Oh well ig
Yeah same, I was thinking something like Vermintide 2 with the perk trees and all that. Basically DRG and Left 4 Dead combined

It took them 6 months to make Brigs shield bigger. There's no way they were going to realistically make a fully fleshed out PVE experience

It's also taking them 3 seasons to do the sombra rework the talked about. This team can't even accomplish balance changes in a normal amount of time.

Do you know what game is all of those minus the free to play? Splatoon.
It’s crazy how after nearly 4 years of waiting for the “2” in OW2, we essentially just got what OW1 would have been by 2021 if they didn’t stop updating the game
You forgot the battlepass and cosmetic shop :)
OW1 was better than what we have
I would bet money that this decision is why Jeff Kaplan left.

@@DanielHodder7my dude live service is just a corrupted version of the mmo model and here's the thing the live service model can work but as a life extender not from the start of a game
@@michaelkeha That's just untrue. Apex, Rocket League, Siege, Sea of Thieves, No Mans Sky, Overwatch, Destiny, Fortnite are all games with live service plans from the start and they're still going on with huge numbers and a lot of success. Which is why we see new directions often fail like OW2 wanting to make TWO live services games within one.
The fact some people can't even afford shoes for 20€ and they ask 20€ for a skin is just stupid.

Oh no they never underestimated the game, they know they can do it at a cheep process.
They should’ve just kept running with the product that OW1 was. It was fantastic.
Oh freedo, you sweet summer child. No. Its the greed and executives making the calls. Thats it. Thats the bottom line. Regardless of how hard or how much the devs do. At the end of the day, the people who pay them so they can eat will always ask, quoting woolie and pat "yeah, but does it money tho?"

I don't think I've ever felt more empty to an announcement like this. Like, all this news came out and I just felt nothing. What could've been now never will be, unless management from the top-down changes. It's like Samito said, this is one of the biggest blunders in gaming history. Not even SONIC had it this bad, even after 06, because they were still producing consistently new content outside of the main-series. How many years have we asked for an Overwatch movie? Nothing. Overwatch TV or anime? Nothing. Spin-off games or a story mode? Nothing.

@@Gerwhaluntil you have it in your hands are playing it assume it's pure lies nothing more
1:45:20 One thing they could easily add is something like the legends skull challenge thing from halo where doing really hard things inside the campaign unlocks you cosmetics, that would add so much easy replayability and goals to the PVE story (and we know they are great at cosmetics). I'm seriously struggling to believe anyone is saying the Starwatch event was good. Did we play the same thing????
Same thing with writers strike. Quick buck over Art.
Which they can't, they already ruined it with OW2's changes and continue to ruin it now with garbage heroes like Lifeweaver.
OW has gone from my most played game ever to I only play when a friend wants me to. Greed has killed the magic and it's truly a tragedy
Same
i feel the same pain in my chest that i have from heartbreak and this is unironically the worst
ive spent more time with this game than any girlfriend or bestfriend. Even though its not been sunshine or rainbows im eternally loyal and i hate that about myself.
i got tattoos of the shimada boys.
Ive applied to blizzard internships.
This shit HURTS.
I grew up playing arena shooters, my favorite category of games are looter shooters and their character trees.
Warframe is my other game and Overwatch would be the unabashed 1st.
This was supposed to be the OPUS.
i wish i never loved this game so much for so long. it has caused me so much pain but since im addicted to it im gonna keep booting it up.
Fuck it really does feel like someone important to me just stopped being so important to me.
:(
Wtf
@@Holder_Of_Place bro i dont really watch tv or shows. rarely movies almost all my attachment to characters is from videogames and this is my favorite one.
im already playing less and less videogames and this is a major hit. thats why it feels so personal.
@Nic Otero I’m sorry
Things will get better for ya
Touch grass, get a life.
I think everyone involved in the development of this game doesn't care. That's it. It's evident in the balance, the updates, everything.
This feels like a slap in the face to all veteran OW players waiting for the PVE mode since it was announced. Shameless company
Does anyone else find it hilarious that “on fire returns” was one of the things they decided to put on the road map? Lol
imagine making a hero like lifeweaver who supposedly requires high team coordination and then ban stacking in the highest rating where team coordination should be the most. im just ranting at this point
Overwatch peaked for me in 2019 and 2020. Rest in peace
The only reason we are even in the situation of waiting and wanting more from overwatch is because of the PvE that was promised in the first place.
Not true. It was because overwatch 2 launch. They said every hero will be in launch and that they had 6 heroes already made and finished. But then they went with a battlepass schedule. Greed is the reason and lying. They never had these heroes and lied to everyone.
@@majorshepard2 overwatch 2 is because of PvE so your argument is my point.
@@EliWilson14 no. What we know pve got cancelled a year ago so before ow2 release. It was just to make a new monetisation model that's more predatory than the old.
@@majorshepard2 I’m aware it was canceled before the release of OW2, but the whole concept of OW2 was PvE. to destroy a game for 3 years straight just to make a sequel that never comes out with the content that you stopped developing the other game for.
