  • An upgrade to the car audio system of my Toyota Matrix. I replace the JBL 620F speakers in the front doors of my 2005 Toyota Matrix with Infinity Reference ‎REF6522IX 6.5 inch coaxial speakers (Most of the video shows the Infinity Reference REF-6532ex speakers, but I switched them at the end) . The Metra 82-8148 Speaker Mounting Brackets www.amazon.com... and Metra 72-8104 Speaker Wiring Harnesses www.amazon.com... were installed prior to the making if this video. Install of the mounting brackets and wiring harnesses is shown in the video for speaker install in the back doors (linked below)
If you need door panel clips, the Toyota part is: parts.longotoy...
These are cheaper, and may work: www.amazon.com... but I have not tried them myself.

as well as installing sound deadening material in the doors • Small Cost, Big Improv...

Great video, i've heard those Infinity reference are decent with factory lower watt stereos, and still not needing an Amp. You mentioned ending up with the REF-6532IX, why IX vs EX?

I'm running them off my JVC head unit without an amp, and I'm happy with them. The EX are shallow mount speakers that were recommended by Crutchfield. The IX are the regular mounting depth that Crutchfield said wouldn't fit in my car, but I tried them and they did. The IX have a larger tweeter with a button for 3dB boost and handle another 5w RMS. I thought the IX sounded better so I kept them in my car.

i run the infinity reference 6532ix (with the +3db buttons pushed in) and they sound amazing. no amp either (yet), but no rush to get one either. i can definitely say they are a unique pair of speakers, and you can hear a night/day difference when swapping them vs your stock speakers. tight punchy bass, crystal clear highs drums and claps.. louder in general, great for sure.

@@noyoutubersstock stereo or aftermarket head unit? I'm considering just using stock stereo, as these work with low amps

@@MattGoodfellow stock stereo. might amp, only because the rear backseat speakers are underpowered in my car. they still sound amazing, i could live without having them amped.
