I think she's said before that she kind of developed this tough persona/look because it was like a stereotype that was expected of a rock band front woman, but if you ever meet her or see an interview you'll soon realize that she's one of the sweetest. I've been lucky enough to see them play probably 7 or 8 times now and they're always amazing, her voice hasn't changed since they first appeared on the music scene in the 90s. You should definitely check out more of them.
Oh, and she sings opera, too. She performed with Pavarotti at least once.
They're one of the most underrated bands from the UK IMO.

p.s. She is Skin. Skunk Anansie is the band. She headlined Glastonury 20 years before Beyonce, like you say in a very white macho era of alt/metal

I'm always late ... sorry! Anyway, this song is one of my all time favorites, and Skin is the soundtrack to all my teenage crushes and my few serious relationships as an adult. Sheìs really cool, she's tough, but she is also very sweet and empathetic in interpreting our innermost emotions, the ones we feel 'secretly'. 🥰🥰🥰🥰Thank you so much Ang (and I hope you will want to listen to the whole album this song is from, it's gorgeous) and thank you Maila for the wonderful request

Do a reaction to Maxim feat. Skin (this singer from Skunk anansie) the song Carmen Queasy. It's from 2000, but still feels forward thinking and fresh, all these years later. She is one of my all times favourite singers. 😍
I saw them live twice in my teen years when they toured in South Africa. The best live acts I’ve ever been to.

Seen them twice here in South Africa - one of the best metal live performers ever! I love the way they are able to switch up full metal/ nu-metal with mid tempo rock and straight up outright balladry like this and make it all work on one album. You have to listen to all their discography - she’s in her 50s now and they’re still putting out new music ! And if you’re up to it check out the song that broke them internationally - Weak
