This was a fabulous special. Patti never was one of those pretentious stars, because she always knew she was one if musics greatest singers even it took the world decades to acknowledge it. No ego she was never scared to collaborate with others and let them shine. One of the great Divas!
Cindy and Patti's version of Time After Time was brilliant!!!! Cindy is an underrated singer and they way that Patti brilliantly colored her notes echoing her was just breath taking!
Being a singer myself using Patti's "vocal style" as my template. I have to say that Cyndi SERIOUSLY held her own singing with her. Patti has such a POWERFUL voice there just isn't many singers out there that can gel with her especially during a duet. But i was VERY impressed with Cyndi's ability to do so. Very beautiful harmonization between the two divas.
Yall act like Cyndi can't sing or something. She's been great for decades, so I don't see how this is shocking, and she's a lyric soprano, she sings higher than Patti who is a dramatic soprano, the lowest soprano type.

I remember the day this came on right after The Cosby Show my mother went and bought a brand new VCR just so that we could record it and we watched it almost every Saturday for at least 4 years.
The Patti LaBelle Show (1985) is a outrageous TV special on NBC, it gotten so big back in 1985. I sure wish that Sid & Marty Krofft, the creators of H.R. Pufnstuf, Lidsville and Land of the Lost, they could've made it into a variety-hour show for Patti LaBelle, just like they did for Donny & Marie Osmond, the stars of the Brady Bunch, Pink Lady & Jeff, and Barbara Mandrell & the Mandrell Sisters.
Patti really gave Cyndi Lauper her wings that night...Patti put Cyndi on one and Cyndi felt it. Just like baking a cake, Patti stirred Cyndi all the way up...🎂🎈

Her voice isn't as big because she's a lyric soprano, Patti is a dramatic soprano, dramatic voice types olare big, but lower than the others such as coloratura and lyric
she is music royalty...you mention her name, and people are not just aware of who she is...but they understand why she's a living legend. Nobody sings like her...ask any professional singer out here, why no one sings like her, and they'll probably say "because they CANT sing like her".

I've found snippets of the show on TH-cam but you are the only one I've found who uploaded the entire show. I've seen Patti in concert several times and she never disappoints! This was a wonderful showcase for her and a few friends, and they really turned it out for the limited time they had. So again I say - THANK YOU!!!
