About St. Paul and The Broken Bones:
Grit, elemental rhythm, tight-as-a-drumhead playing, and a profound depth of feeling: these are the promises of a great soul band. And St. Paul & The Broken Bones deliver on those promises.
Half The City is the compelling full-length Single Lock/Thirty Tigers debut of the Birmingham, Alabama-based sextet, who have already created a maelstrom of interest with their roof-raising live shows and self-released four-song 2012 EP. Produced by Ben Tanner of Alabama Shakes, and recorded and mixed in the storied R&B mecca of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the album harkens back to the region’s classic soul roots while extending the form with electrifying potency.

Lyrics:
This ain’t the heartache that I thought I knew
This ain’t the party that I thought we’d do
You got your limit, baby I got mine
611-3369 You got to call me, baby
We ain’t the lovers that’ll tear it down
We ain’t the fortune all over town
You got your limit, baby I have mine
611-3369 You got to call me baby
I need you to pick up that telephone
And dial this lover’s heartache
I need you to call me
I need to hear your sweet voice
Let me let me let me let me hear you again
I need you I need you
I need I need you baby
I need I need I need I need I need I need you baby
I need I need I need I need I need I need you baby
I got to get you pick it up that telephone
Please please oh baby
You got your limit, baby I got mine
611-3369 please oh please baby
Pick up that phone
I need you to pick it up baby
I need you to pick it up now baby - เพลง
An add in Spotify brought me here. This guys had something, I could say just for seeing that 5 seconds add. Then I found all their music. Literally, I came for silver, but found gold instead.
We were testing some of those out and trying to spread the word thanks for coming over to give them listen 🙏🏻
Everyone in this band looks like a math teacher
Be that as it may they sound pretty darn good.
Perfect equation! Pure joy. 💙✌️🗽
That’s because they have mathematically created the perfect blue eyed soul rock
Technically you’re not wrong though 😂
I guess thats why they makin numbers
I first heard them on Good Morning America and for the first time in ten years my grandfather that is 83 with a tumor on his lung and cancer got up and did a little dance and laughed. And we needed that in our family because my uncle and also my father figure passed last week. So this is for the band now you guys are by now my favorite (band) and do thank you for that moment that I can now have of my grandpa
Bless your family bro that really made me smile crazy world filled with very sane real moments
Amazing
Thanks for sharing that. I got a little weepy and smiled. Love to your family.
You just made have goosebumps in Africa.
Great story. Prayers out for your Grandfather & your family.
Ladies & gentlemen, that's what soul looks like.
It's what soul SOUNDS like for sure, they LOOK like they buy a lot of sunblock and study real hard.
Huh. A lot fewer Black people than I excepted.
Crazy to think that this was somebody's jam a decade ago when it came out. They probably listened to it countless times. And here I am just finding it today.
Me too! Today is the first time I heard them 😮
Sitting here thinking the same thing with some serious goosebumps!
This used to be my jam when it came out. Here I am revisiting it. Good music doesn’t age.
Me too ❤
Love this Band, saw them three or four times pre covid in small London venues!
The closest I've ever been to church!
Hallelujah and Amen!!!...
Okay now this shit right here.
This is good.
so very true
i wish he would drop the band. He has such a good voice , but he should call his band the counting crows.
St paul and the counting crows.
Hey Justin, I believe that this band is just fine. He does sound like Always Green. Btw, I'm Chris's mom, from PT😉
I'm an old school R&B fan who has seen all the greats live over the past half century and THESE guys are the real deal. Amazing live act.
Stop lying on the greats. Good song, but the singer's performance was not good. I'm very curious about who you're comparing them to.
@@handsom3jam955ur smoking crack LMAO get outta here weirdo, this is blue eye soul right here🔥
I just up and caught up with them on Austin 🏙 City limits -- VERY unique and rocking out with the bluesy soulful sounds-- what's not 2 like ❤⚡️🎹🎶🎸
These guys are getting back on the road again don’t miss a live show if you get a chance they are great
Where... When... I'm there
Orion Amphitheatre grand opening in Huntsville AL tomorrow, grew up in Huntsville and to have this group come through and break the bottle on our new venue brightens my soul, cant WAIT
Now that's how you do it. No glitz, no glam, just straight SOUL. Can't get enough of these guys!
Literally one of the tightest bands. That guitar player doesn't show off much, but when he does... holy shit. Top to bottom, one of the best bands out there right now.
I'd be thrilled to be in their audience. Anywhere. Anytime
I must go see them when they come to Denver. Speaking of tight bands, check out Mo Lowda & The Humble, those guys are crushing it
Well, this song definitely earned its place in my "repeat till you hate it" playlist!
How can there be 526 people in the world who don't like this? Saw these guys live last night. They are fantastic.
I will always support musicians like this by buying their stuff!
indeed! they can have my 10$ actually I'd pay 20$ for their album. money well spent.
+Jamie Holmes Thank you Sir. Well said.
+stuart lanier See them live - buy CD or t-shirt. Mark my words: I saw them in a small venue - they will not be playing them any more.
alright Jamie
Bless you guys, as a musician myself...means alot to read that
Why hasn't this band won every musical accomplishment and award that exists yet???
Hey guys,
If you're a Soul Fan and liked what we filmed with St. Paul give Allen Stone a try if your looking for some new music. Just posted an old video with him today here: th-cam.com/video/gVEc7ToJyAY/w-d-xo.html
+OurVinyl We were lucky enough to see Allen Stone and St. Paul and the Broken Bones (debut) over Easter. Also Con Brio from San Francisco delivered a superb debut performance here in Byron Bay, Australia.
Saw him at Bonnaroo, he is incredible
These Alabama boys make me so proud, Good music isn't forgotten by our younger generation, thank God.
I gotta' say, finding St. Paul and the Broken Bones, quite by accident was one of the joys of my year. Takes me back to the R&B of my youth, I've listened to this album way too much, almost an obsession.
Soul is Soul it doesn’t belong to any race in particular. 👌🏽
In particular I think you meant :)
@@yotamsho8597 did you grammmar nazi a comment that was at the time 6 months old?

@@hellified5114 you just called me out for saying something about someone's comment 6 months later. you just did the same to my comment...
That was...amazing! Dude's voice is just... wow... #instantfan
Just saw these guys last night in Detroit. Most amazing show I have ever seen. Paul puts his entire being into every song he sings. They are a must see. Renews my faith in music today.
wow, these guys are awesome, would love to see them play with Alabama Shakes
+Adam Taylor Uh yeah agreed, that would be incredible...
You've got a good ear. Their debut album was produced by the touring Keyboardist for the Shakes. The played a tornado relief benefit with them down in Tuscaloosa not too long ago
Or Marc Broussard!
I immediately had the same thought
Agreed!
This band was incredible live. See them soon!
Pretty good channeling of the legendary '60's sound!
Where are they from? They're awesome!
Most are from Birmingham, AL
A personal favorite, love these guys sound~
Wheels of Soul tour 2020 with Tedeschi Trucks Band. Just discovered st paul today. Im getting front row like I did last yr it will absolutely RIP!
Proving again that music/soul knows not skin colour. You either have Soul Power or you don't. Good music is good music regardless of race or culture. If you have heart and soul then play your bloody brains out and share it with the rest of us who appreciate such things.
Preach it mate
Word
Mike Guinness amen
+Mike Guinness Truth my Brother, Couldn't have said it better myself!
That's the true true.
I don't always get goosebumps from music, but when I do..
wow.
the soul in this is giving me life
Oh My Gosh... If I didn't know better I would think this guy with the soulful voice was reincarnated through those like Otis, Tyrone Davis & I know that I heard a touch of that sweet voice of Marvin Gaye... Just listening to the pipes this ball of dynamite has takes me back to when real soul music was pure enjoyment... What a fantastic talent with him and his band... I just can't seem to get enough of this guy... God Bless to All
Gotta throw some Al Green into that mix with this dudes flow. This one makes me rock and sway. The slower pieces pull me in tight. Good small scale Americana and soul coming from Alabama again at last.
stclemmons1969 What a nice compliment about this group... Yes I think ol' Al Green should jump right in the middle as well... It is so nice to hear Alabama "Soul" & I might add what a nice sound it is... God Bless & Happy 4th of July
Gail Hitt Try Alabama Shakes if you haven't already heard them. Hold On is a killer.
I'm in Soul Heaven right now...
You got that right! Just when I thought music was dead, along comes these guys on 91.3 commercial free radio out of Akron Ohio. What I thought was a good black group turns out to be white boys jammin' Long live soul!
My son sent me this: New music, old school soul! As they would say in my family: "good stuff, Maynard "!
I was listening to St. Paul while frying some bacon and I tell you right now, no water spilled in that pan that day. The bacon I tell you popped listening to St. Paul!. Ker-POP!!!! These are the facts son.
This video came out in 2013 and i have no clue why this band has not had more light on their name. This is the music we need friends.
Well said, Cid.
29 people need there Ears Checked!!! Killer!! This guy might not look the part but he sure Sings It!! This Band Kicks!! Love this whole 60's - 70's Soul revival!!
i cant convey how much st paul touches my soul. this is everything good in the world put to a tune and vocalized.
i own a metal station ,i have to say love the st paul music, see Alabama puts out more then just great football
From B'ham myself and very proud of this group.....go...go...
Just heard them on Letterman and all I can say is DAMN!
I to saw them on the David Letterman Show.....Already ordered the CD. Great Group ♡
Saw them tonight in concert and they were UNBELIEVABLE.
Finishing a 14 hour work day, getting home, taking of your shoes, sitting on the couch on your front porch, having some vitamins and just listening to these guys.... soul shakin
March 7th 2018, 8:10 PM EST - as of this date and time there are 401 benighted souls who have given this a thumbs-down. Feel for them, their existence is bereft of soul.
I was drive-dancing in my car to this song today. Damn! Reminds me of growing up in the 60's and 70's - pure R&B! Love it!
I keep watching this over and over and over again...
and im always like "Damn, his voice does not fuck around. Those vocals could be weaponized"
Damn... haha.
Saw them in Nola and in Vancouver bc Canada. “ The Best “. Best singer since Bobby Taylor
What a great song to listen to on the first day of 2015!!!!!!
These guys are great, that singer's got some SOUL!
I was introduced to this group by my son who is in his early thirties and I am in my fifties I adore these guys. I left my music with a good beat and fell in love with R&B music several years ago after only listening to top 40 I didn't appreciate the sound I love to dance and I don't care who's around I try to sing along I can't tell you how these guys have lifted me at a bad time love it
Tamra Oswalt so glad you enjoyed it!
Tamra Oswalt Ha Ha Ive just been introduced to them by my son also hes 16 he felt id love them , he was right .
it's like a bunch of band geeks got together and decided to make a soul record. Nothin' wrong with that. They're album is totally worth picking up!
Play that funky music, white boys.
I really dont want to be the partycrasher but i think its best to not think about color or race in good music it always hurts the spirit
If these dudes are nerds then WTF are we!? These GIFTED musicians have more SOUL & TALENT in one finger than most ppl!!
their
Color shouldn’t be a trait.
@@vnar6706 It isn't a personality trait, however it most definitely is a physical trait. Just like eye color...
They played in Greenville, SC at the riverbank Ampitheater this past Sunday. What a unique sound. I had never heard of them prior to then. They are now a part of my playlist!
So glad you got to see them live! They really are some of the best out there
The Bonnaroo 2018 lineup brought me here. Can't wait to see these guys live next monyth!
Indeed a masterpiece, music, sound, performance. This I mean when I say q-u-a-l-i-t-y 👏
Fourth time back. And it won't be my last. Infectious soul.
👏 A soulful front man and a soulful band. ❤❤❤
I hate that I just found this by chance just now. This was wonderful to the ears. It more than just a good listen, it was an experience.
I heard this song while moving to my new house today and it made me smile so big, had me doing a soulful car karaoke, 611 is my lucky number!!
WOW! THE LEAD SINGER OF THIS BAND HAS A OUT A SIGHT SOULFUL VOICE. THE BAND IS OUT OF SIGHT. REMINDS ME OF ANOTHER ALL TIME GREAT SINGER WHOM I LOVE HIS MUSIC. THIS IS JOE CROCKER MOVES. ALRIGHT ALRIGHT
Wow, did I love that band! Where to start.... real horns! Love the brass. Kinda wanted a tenor sax though too. Loved the singer getting jiggy. lol! Loved these young cats all dressed up too. Loved the smile on the drummers face. This could have come straight out of the 70's. Reminded me a little of the blues brothers.
Could use a baritone sax, get that bottom end working. Fantastic band as is though, and what a front man... damn son!
Love, love, love this band! Can't wait to see them Friday night in Charlotte, NC.
I just discovered you guys this year and I have to say I'm apologize.
This talent should have every living being's attention from day one and beyond.
Talent is the word for sure!
This song is now apart of my life
OMG!!!! These guys are great! Singer sounds a lot like Al Green. I really like this ole Soul music! Going to spread the word on these guys!! Thanks for posting!
How am I barely now discovering them?!😱🙈 They are what the music industry needs. This is what needs to be playing on the radio, not trash pop/rap music. I wish them much success and no doubt that they will have it. Just absolutely amazing!!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️❤️❤️
saw them tonight, never have i felt such emotion from a band. remember these guys, they are the epitome of the revival we need
First iv ever heard of them, first ever song iv heard by them. INSTANTLY HOOKED
Keith Richards brought me here. Always good to hear new music that sounds like it came out in the 50s, 60s, or 70s. These guys are seriously talented!
+Tom Laving Saw them at Lee's Palace in Toronto. Dive of a place not worthy of their talents. The hint of urine in the atmosphere confirms this -- not that you asked - But
They did kick the living shiat out of the room that night. And stomped on its neck. Repeatedly. Unmercifully.
They are that good. Greatest live performance ever.
See them live, at all costs.
Up there with Muse for live performance.
It's interesting you say Keith because I discovered all of the black music from the 40's, 20's, and 60's thru Keith, Mick, and Brian. Otis R. is my favorite and these guys sound just as good as Mr. Redding! What talent!!!
James Fisher jimmy page introduced me to the blues if you want to get down to it
Man, these guys are PHENOMENAL!!!
his vocal is so powerful
Wow. auto play heard from the bathroom had to come who was that? omg Instant love...So awesome when this happens to me...All the time. Love you!!!! 2019 my first love..whoo hoooo
What an amazing voice!!
Oh, wow, what a blast from the past! I haven't heard music like this in years!
Beats the heck out of cRap! Saw them on Craig Ferguson's TV show.
Hot damn!...that's some great soulful singing! Reminds me of ole Baby Huey from the early 70's.
I'd love to live in a world where we don't need to associate someone's talents with their race. Just appreciate the music for what it is..
Just what we need more of this perfect
I'm losing my damn mind rocking out to this song right not. Holy shit.
Thanks for playing Raleigh, I can't stop listening to this album!
The band is really tight...really power band
this band sounds amazing i am definitely going to be a longtime fan.
This is LIVE, great stuff.
Just heard this on 670 the score. Awesome shit right here. Never underestimate the soul of a hefty white dude.
I just heard this on the radio and it blew me away. Wonderful stuff. Soul and R+B. Lord have mercy.
This may be my new favorite song
What a sweet video! Bringing that energy to an old venue that probably just aches to have music like this filling its halls once again...bravo!
Hey, not bad, and much props to the band for being inspired by music that actually doesn't suck.
Love this. Heard them for the first time on BBC Radio 2 at 1.00am driving home from work last night. This song blew me away. Brilliant.
Fiddle sticks !!! I am floored, love this song and the whole shebang.
OO WEE! Them boys got some soul!
I saw these guys at a festival, and the singer sang without a mic for a minute cause he was feeling it so good!. Old boy is LOUD.
Just listened to these guys on CBS this morning.. Awesome Job.
Super excited to check these guys out at ACL fest next weekend.
This is a HELLUVA performance of this song, I wish this same energy was on the studio version. The acoustics of the lobby destroyed the drums.
Well said!
Agreed, this acoustic versions are so much better!
We saw St John and the Broken Bones last night in Boulder, CO. What a GREAT show! Loved it!
Can't wait to see these guys Saturday night at the Mercy in Nashville!
Welp, you nailed my music taste on the head. I will now be surfing all of your videos and leaving comments of appreciation. Thank you for the recommendation. I appreciate you.
And thank you for the appreciation. That means a lot to us.
My ears hungry for real soul and real music thank you! You guys rock!
by far their very best performance of this song. Wow!
Wow... what a vocal!
Love it, love it, LOVE IT! Anybody still sitting still after 1:58 needs their pulse checked!
So very true
Haha awesome comment!
I also heard the Al Green influence. Think it's a combination of the horns and timing. Very good singer!
Just saw these guys this weekend at End of the Road festival - simply astonishing performance!
Loved this song!! These dudes sure have soul!!
Very Nice! Haha this find has brightened my day.
Just saw them on Austin City Limits... Wow. I am in awe.
Me too. It's what brought me here. I think he'd be even better if he could clean up his runs a bit and finda little more depth. Still enjoyable to listen to.
I love this band. All that feeling and emotion and the devotion drives me crazy...
I was beyond lucky to live in Hyde Park in Chicago in the early Sixties - Paul Butterfield, Nick Gravinitas, Howlin' Wolf and more. This child is their progeny.Thank you for giving me a little joy in the present.
