I have the absolute respect for Matt Heafy, I've been a fan of Trivium since Ascendancy and have followed them through all their eras and albums, in my opinion In The Court Of The Dragon is their best work yet It's Trivium firing on all cylinders! Matt always sounds so down to earth and humble and yeah I feel like he is honestly one of the best modern metal musicians going! I could easily watch him and Nik talk for like 2 hours aha
Ill admit when trivium started if they came on i would let it play but now i actively find them to start my play list they sound just as epic live too.
Whaaaat? Collaboration with Matt, Floor (Nightwish), and Hannes (Sabaton)?? I have no idea what that will sound like, but it will be awesome and I’m excited.
I do appreciate I commented when you had Jacoby on wishing for more videos like that where they were longer format for those of us who are missing stream and to see this channel kick off just made me so happy! You’re awesome ! 😄
This is honestly the perfect format for you and Matt to chat across. LOVE hearing more about the origins of Trivium's early albums. Thanks Nik and Matt
Great, laid back conversations here. Big fan of Matt since '05, and I saw Trivium's first shows in Ireland during the Ascendency timeline. They brought the house down in their Dublin debut, and seeing them as young lads up there wrecking the place like seasoned veterans was amazing. I remember drinking with Corey and Travis in a rock bar 'cross the street from the venue. Sound lads, good times. They have persevered through peaks and valleys since, and the stunning ITCOTD is their best album.
dude that is cool/very cool that you had Matt on your podcast Nik i bet Matt whould be a very cool and awesome dude to hang out with same thing with Will as well
man Matt is right, it took me days just to learn suffocating on sight from Ascendancy album, it wasn't the pace it's the fact I had stretch my fingers everywhere, talk about breaking your hands lol
I discovered Trivium during the Ascendancy days. I will say with no hesitation that The Crusade is one of my top five favorite records of all time. From any band. OF ALL TIME. I know it’s hated by so many Trivium fans, and obviously the band themselves, but I FUCKING LOVE that record. Thrash is my favorite “subgenre” and The Crusade was EVERYTHING I wanted in a modern thrash record. To this day, I can still turn on The Crusade, and listen to it from beginning to end without skipping any songs. 🤘🏻😈🤘🏻
I thought ITCOTD was kinda slept on by most people like I didn't see many channels talking about it or not being high ranked in albums of the year, which is surprising cus it was so fucking good. Literally one of my favourite albums in the last 5 years
This was inspiring, thanks Nik! Now I got a desire to begin to stream on twitch as a metal guitar player… consistency is key in everything and I now know that! Good luck to everybody, don’t give up on your dreams! 🤩💪🏼
awesome podcast, but only complaint about the video version is that Nik's background is a little grating on the eyes, so maybe something different, but maybe its just me
Gatekeepers are the bane of the metal scene or really any creative niche. Like let people do the music/art they want. The hate makes some talented and creative people just stop doing what they like...
*More episodes coming soon! Be sure to stream it on Spotify and other stuff I guess*
I think we can all agree that Matt Heafy is the most humble person in the metal scene.

@@Tybren I was a "In Waves is their best work fan" for a long time but man ITCOTD just absolutely slaps! also Shogun is a classic!

ITCOTD is a fantastic record. One of the best Trivium records start to finish.
Cannot wait to see Trivium in Sept. Colorado.
Thank you on both of you for your time
Shogun & Ascendency are my favorite Trivium Records
Didn’t even realize that this was a new channel. Immediately subbed

It’s a masterpiece. Easily right there with Shogun for me. None of the newer bands put out anything remotely close to it last year.
yooo, loved this! excited for more
Subbed as soon as i saw nik
