Doing children a favor here. When they made laws allowing learning disorders otherwise not recognized (cognitively impaired- historically called half wits) a mandated acceptance with further aid at colleges expensive to help them pass (unlimited time on exams, early release of test questions, open book tests, take home tests while other students received 30 minutes in class on a pop test), the college degree became worthless. Before it meant the college educated could easily pick up and learn any job on their own, now graduates cannot function unsupervised with small chance they get nominated for the Darwin award even or imprisonment for wrongful death. That is why jobs require work experience as most important thing on resume today. Unfortunately, graduates want the privilege of being seen extra smart and given higher ranking jobs they are not only not prepared for, but never would be ready for in their life. Because nobody told them that if you need others to do everything for you, you are not better than your straight A Deans list classmate, and you are not bringing anything to the table. Just toddlers throwing tantrums saying, "I want that!" Then urinating all over it.
Trying to get into school this Fall and it's obviously not going to happen now because of this mess...and I blame a braindead administration.
Thought I was crazy. I filled out my form 3 months ago and there has not been an approval of my application 😂
FAFSA is one of the most disorganized and uncoordinated institutions in the education system. As someone who lives in oregon when you graduate high school youre owed 1 or 2 free terms of community college. I applied for mine but forgot the password the FAFSA lady made up for my acc so i had to make a new one. Months pass and I saw my friends recieve their admission emails but mine never came. I set up an appointment to figure this all out and she told me because I made 2 accounts under the same name they cancelled my free terms out. I can not get them back because of her incompetence.
Reading that I only see you to blame for forgetting the password. I’m sure you’d also be able to call around to get that straightened out before making a new account.
Lessons learned, I guess.
Let me be clear - I’m not defending FAFSA, but it is what it is.

That’s why there’s very little to nothing for Americans it goes to the ones living in Israel and Ukraine. I do FAFSA's for HS students through our school system. When you get errors, usually it fixes it if you clear your browsing history on the computer you're using. Try that.

This is a hinderance for undergrads that are dependent (23 or younger)..if you are independent..it takes all of 10min..but here’s the kicker..schools don’t have access to the application so we can’t even discuss it with students that are starting after July 1st…smh..the joyous life of an FA Advisor 🤦🏾♀️
Make education free in the Information Age. Those who seek knowledge shouldn’t be burdened for the rest of their lives. That’s just a recipe for cynicism and resentment. “Go to trade school then!”. If everyone did that we could solve all the small everyday problems but the large abstract issues we wouldn’t pay attention to and would become intractable.

I’m imaging those brilliant minds in education that think the government can fix “climate change.”
To all the people telling kids not to go to college, what will they do when they lack career skills and they have to compete with AI? Should they take udemy? Should they read books on the subject? Do you put a book on your resume? Do you put "self-educated" on your resume?
To young people who are considering skipping college: Do you think you'll get the job you want in an ever-evolving society when you're competing with AI AND college graduates? Even if your dream job or career doesn't require a degree, you'll need to make money to support yourself at least until you get that dream job or business. And trust me, your dream will take longer than you expect to come true; add a few years to whatever you were expecting.
Don't be like Squidward on SpongeBob who stays at the same minimum wage job day after day, year after year, waiting for his dream career as a musician to take off (that wasn't me trying to talk down to younger people btw; I grew up on SpongeBob myself...). This was my life for years before I decided to go back to college. My point: you have to have a realistic plan.
A technical/trade school education and an associate's is a great choice. Less time and money spent, you can put it on your resume that you've learned the proper skills for the job, and way less debt that you can pay off in no time. It doesn't have to be a bank-breaking 4-year university education. If that's what you want though, start at a community College and transfer your credits to a university so you're not spending 4-year university money
I honestly don’t think college isn’t worth it anymore like it was when I went to school 🏫 20+ years ago. It was a lot cheaper back than. Now it isn’t even worth it!
